Sadly Salem, Canada appears to be moving inextricably towards an authoritarian future. Sadly for us authoritarian run countries tend to be protectionist, which would be very bad news for us in the short term. If we do lose I expect short term turbulence before the bod states their intention to ignore the order and effectively say come and get it to cineplex.

Aldebaran - just f you bought some originality to the forum it would be welcomed, the problem is you burst into the scene screaming about bankruptcy for reasons that literally countless others have been here screaming, most of which were and remain FUD. Your either new to investing, if so welcome and good luck, or your an old hand. If you are new please take time to research the rebuttals your points have received as they have more merit than 3-5year old scare stories. If you an old hand, then goooood luck to you as your way behind the curve.

I respect the fact that you have declared your position and honestly, fair play to you for that. Your correct that this is a public forum and all views should be heard, we always have the filter available right?! I do think though my position like many other have already been destroyed, I’m over 70% down, the worst so to speak HAS virtually happened, so for me the equation is simple, take my pittance and run or hold for gold……at this point I’m not risking much so I’m holding……. You’ll forgive me for not wishing you luck in your cine position.

I wonder why the media is making misleading headlines? As all LTH’s know the short positions in Cineworld have been steadily reducing over the last few weeks. Are the II’s trying to encourage retail investors to short the company so they can get out before the inevitable rise?

Guys we always get a deluge of ret.arded posters / derampers when there are a lot of shorts closing, a few days ago a fellow LTH posted that the cost for for shorts is increasing next month and that our SP should turn the corner after that date. Looks like they could be correct. To that end I’d advise not stressing over these trolls.

Also the mid term for Cine holders specifically looks bland because IMO the board is going to play their cards very close to their chest in order to minimise the worst case scenario for the cineplex situation. They are likely to “appear” to scrape through the forthcoming leverage test and not pay down debt to any excessive degree as they are playing the part of a “close to administration” company for the above reason. When that situation shakes out however I expect an aggressive tone and path to be adopted by the board, debts will begin to be overtly paid off and more noise / comms to be forthcoming.

Personally I’m bored to tears by this approach, i however have no control, i therefore have but one option….patience.

All of this is obviously IMO……very interested to hear if anyone else agrees with the short position comments above or has an alternative explanation.

I hope so, was just curious to see if it was something that had been briefed quietly to certain businesses so as to give a heads up. Your explanation makes sense equally to be fair.

Do you subscribe to the comments made below regarding short positions closing hence the low / Lowe Roy of our sp due to an imminent short position cost increase in the new financial year? Seems plausible to me but have zero knowledge of the technicalities of shorting.

At the local Audi dealership the are re-installing their covid barriers, signs and clear glass counter top dividers. I was here last week and none of these thing were in use or in sight.

My question to you is, have you seen a return of any of these measures? If so where?

I’m probably being paranoid but my spider sense is tingling and could explain our slow drift.

No need to justify your decision.

But equally no need to hover and project negativity to LTH’s who are already having a tough time. It’s no joke, this isn’t a game, investors are hurting and don’t need additional stress caused by people like you or others taking pot shots at their investments, bear in mind many people are very far below their average and can only see their money back if they hold and cine recovers, they know it’s a gamble, but like me (currently over 70% down) the only way to see our money back is to hold.
