I think you will get time to buy back in at 2/2.10. I got some at just under 200 but nowhere near what I sold at 240. Imagine there will be a spike of people trying to buy back in this am again.

Good start to the battle. Don’t think I’ve seen share buybacks as a response to legitimate accusations like muddy did against Nmc health.
I fully expect DT may have had tradings with some companies mentioned by QCM. No doubt they need to go through the archives and dig out what they were to form a substantive response to specifics. Again the way I read it…pre IPO and additional regs and monitoring that come for listed companies.

I imagine a barrage of mud slinging will start next week when shorts are all maxed out.
What they have presented is dated and seems pre ipo. The Italian focus and claim should not surprise any one who has done business there. At worst maybe a rogue country manager. It’s a 69 page diatribe … but you need to read it. There are some fast addressable issues DT could handle at pace.
We all know the challenge around growth and renewals…I expect that will be a soft start to the mud slinging.
Expect DT might announce enquiry which will need to be lead by one of the big 4 …. Probably not grant Thornton.

As the business matures and scales, is there not a point at which FCF takes a more significant jump. I was under the impression that why software business are liked is because of higher FCF margins. I think the last thing I read on crowdstrike was 16% and I'd have thought they have a way uglier cost base than DT.

You'd hope we will see some mild recovery. The 'funds' will have their various analysts digging through this I am sure. QCM are already named in US court case https://dockets.justia.com/docket/new-york/nysdce/1:2022cv09409/588863 . This relates to Cassava Sciences and I think it is claims they made about Cassava's trialling of an Alzheimer's drug. Something about them speeding up the process I think.
So to get this right ... the character all these shorters are following is the type that guns down science/research companies trying to find solutions for a terrible disease (albeit for their gain down the road).
Hopefully MArshall Wace are well distanced from this guy ... the Guardian article would have me concerned being in the same sentence.

I think Poppy is doing the right thing by not getting drawn in just yet. Leaders knock out with one punch and she’ll need a bit of time to get square. I wouldn’t have even put the RNS out…you need killer blow the kill the short.

aaah ... I said I'd moved on from the report but I can't. It's like David Brent popped over to Italy, took a few snaps, got drunk and wrote some tosh then thought he'd better make it sound a bit better and plagiarised some material from Shadowfall who wrote the same sort of stuff a few years back.

Already moved on from this report now. I'm sure there might be more fall out bit I got a tranche at just about sub 2. I think I was accused of be a 'ramper' earlier but I think people have now seen this report for what I took it to be.
Based on timing of declarations, QCM are in at 250/60 level for a fair chunk so maybe blended below 3. Good luck to them buying all those back with all the other shorters which may have followed their lead.

J2300 ... I don't think DT have to give rebuttal to this. If you can read, research and understand the industry space you are invested in, this is back to being a good long. I intend to buy all the way down as I assume the emotional reactions will kick in this afternoon.

I think it's a bit of a disgrace. I'm still absorbing it but I actually know one of the companies he mentioned and did transactional business with them way back. Met them at trade shows and all sorts. Now business in Italy is at the end of the day business in Italy. We all know what Telecom ITalia cost BT and I'm sure there's plenty of others out there. I think at the very worst his found a possible bad debt exposure DT may have which would be a drop in the ocean.
You don't get the cash generation doing what he's going on about.

Clearly this Gabriel has strong connections in Italy and having operated there, it really does not surprise me he has found some questionable (albeit dated) stuff to fire across the bow. Other than that its week, lacks detailed understanding of software sales channels, has over-simplistic view of Autonomy case and lacks any substantive figures. I could have done so much better myself and only have a meagre percentage of the money this guys worth ... oh how unfair the world is!!

That's before you even get to the presentation itself. I'd tell my son to do his homework again if he wrote a presentation with such a lack of professional appearance, character and grammar!

Look up QCM funds on Twitter and they have a dropbox link to the report. I think if you attach it, it gets blocked. QCM is all I have been posting about since Friday. There's no hack or anything.
I know how software gets sold and I know how hardware is treated and I know the Autonomy issues. Investors with QCM will lose their shirt I expect and MW will clear short.

OK - you can see the report. There's a link on twitter. Time to buy back in. What they are presenting is a re-hash of Shadowfall and superficially presented Autonomy case. Got to say, it really comes across as amateur hour. This guy clearly got lucky with a few and his failures are only mentioned in a handful of google reviews.

Yes but trainline tanked when the government in their infinite wisdom decided to announce they were going to set up their own ticketing system. I think it was that numpty Schapps. This is a bit different as it's basically an implied challenge to the business in some way from an activist shorter.

I did not think the court case is fixed for tomorrow. The dates showed 1st and 2nd Feb ... so tomorrow or Thursday. It was also titled default. So in effect this has just been caught up with a lot of other things in creating a post Mugabe Zim?

It's not just the two shorters we know about, it's all the ones under 0.5%. So you have the shorting algos playing in a greatly increased free float. The only thing to U-turn this within a week would be if an institutional investor calls out BS on the short and increases their stake.

The Romania thing is why I bought in at 0.20 … the market cap seemed to be low considering the upside of making this mine successful. I thought it had chance of getting comfortably to 1-1.2 if they could yield out of it.

Nova…you said 2p is cheap but that would be a market cap of around £30m ish. If they get the diamonds, that’s a one off…getting the mine up and running and fruitful sounds like a whole other issue. What numbers are there to back up value claims aside from the potential of this one off?

mW will have increased off the back of Quintessential. If there is a claim to be made, you’d also think MW would have some knowledge. MW have the resource to go way bigger than 1% so I am guessing they themselves are not convinced by QCM having something substantive to back up their short.
That said I think it’s ballsy to be buying back in just yet.

I had assumed this share price was down because it was hard to see the reality of a dividend emerging? If you fight strikes, unions and pay rises on the one hand…. makes paying a dividend a tough PR gig. Share buybacks just offer a softer option that the press don’t seem to go mental for.
