The Fed delivered the widely expected rate cut by 25bp to 4•83%. Powell said he will make future decisions on a "meeting by meeting" basis. The 500 and Nsdq closed at all-time highs while the Dow spent the day lingering around the unchanged line.

Of special note Nvidia ($149) as many predicted reached another milestone by overtaking Apple as the world's most valuable company. Nvidia's mrkt cap reached $3•652tn v Apple $3•438tn. Nine of the most valuable companies have mrkt caps of over $1tn. Tesla is knocking on the top 10 with a value of $953bn.

On the Dow 11 of the 30 fell with JPMC, Amex & GS among the laggards while Intel, Boeing and Home Depot topped the leaderboard. On the DJI, GS & Visa are seen as overbought by analysts. Bigest loser was JPMC down $11 to $236.

Hi oilheadgame....yup I'm still about posting an early morning review of Wall St moves. I'm long out of Genel these days. Got fed up with the corrupt Kurdistan Govt changing the goal posts every other month and not paying their bills!

Traders & investors outside the USA were decidedly less euphoric on Trumps win as they weighed the implications of Trump's victory, more concerned about his tariff plans that could reignite US-China trade tensions. Trump has called for increased tariffs on China and other countries which could lead to renewed inflation.

However most investors sat transfixed to their screens astounded by rocketing stock prices following Trump's win on Wednesday. Though many little known stocks soared by 40% & more big tech joined in. Tesla soared 15% to $289, Google added $7 to $178, Microsoft up $9 to $420 and Netflix $16 to $781.

Banks had a good day rising around 6%-10% and Vix dropped to its lowest level since Sept. The Dow closed up 1508 points to a new record though 11 of the big board fell. The Russell 2000 shot up over 6% seen as a beneficiary of Trump's business acumen.

Trump's victory is expected to lead to faster economic growth. Bond yields also surged, yield on the 10ytb climbed 4% to 4•28%. Bitcoin emerged as one of the days big winners climbing to a record $75,459, Trump being actively supportive of crypto currencies.

Fox news project Trump as the 47th President of the USA.

Trump on course to win the Presidency sends US mrkts higher. He leads in the crucial state of Pennsylvania by 150,000 votes making it almost impossible for Harris to overtake him. By no means a landslide win but better than many forecast. Harris has returned home unavailable for comment.

The Dow streaked 427 better followed by a 264 points jump on the Nsdq and 70 on the S&P. Of the Dow DJI top stocks 25 gained leaving Boeing, Chevron & Merck propping up the laggards. Trump Media & Tech ($48) jumped 19% after hours on the Robin Hood brokerage as Wall indicated he was in the lead. The Dow closed at (42,222) some way below the recent 43,275 record close.

A broad rally for equities was confirmed by data indicating the economy was on solid footing, though the trade deficit hit a two and a half year high it didn't dissuade investors from piling into stocks. Dow futures call a big jump for stocks today on the assumption Trump will win.

Latest betting stats from Betfair. A total of £185m has been wagered of which £125m is on Trump.

Wall St thinks Harris will win while the bookies and wider betting community think Trump will prevail. The S&P in the run up to election day has historically been a strong indicator of whether the incumbent Party's candidate will retain control of the White House and the mrkts are calling for a Harris win.

In other company news Boeing ($155) workers voted to accept revised terms ending their 8 week strike. Berkshire Hathaway (A $665,000) has trimmed its Apple stake again and now holds c.296m shares, sitting on c.$325bn of cash. Buffet has been a net seller of equities for the 8th consec Q as he thinks the Govt will raise cap gains tax.

Nvidia ($135) which overtook Msoft as the 2nd most valuable global company will replace Intel in the DJI averages index. This is a significant milestone for the company whose meteoric rise has amazed investors worldwide. Apple's lead over Nvida is now a tiny $30m.

On the Dow index Home Depot, Salesforce and Cisco led the 9 risers while Dow inc & UH propped up the laggards. Intel which will lose its place in the top 30 fell 3% to $22 down 53% this year. The Fed is expected to cut its lending rate at the next meeting due on Thursday 2:00pm ET. Traders think a 25 bp cut is on the cards.

Morning all.

Looks as though Harris will have to win Pennsylvania (19 votes) to win the election. Chances don't favour her. Current odds are Trump 52% Harris 48%. If you fancy an upset bet Harris to win the electoral college by 286-252.

Asian mrkts are tracking Wall St higher this morning following positive nos from the Street on Friday. Geo political tensions in the ME and US election uncertainties are keeping most investors on the sidelines. Trump remains favourite to win across 5 betting platforms at 57% v Harris 42%.

Despite data showing weaker than expected US jobs growth in October optimism over the outlook for rates remain cautious. Most expect a 25bp cut in Nov with a final 25bp cut in December.

Stocks in HK and Shanghai are little changed but have moved better in late trading consolidating the advances made in the second half of the year. Taiwans Taiex remains the best performer in Asia, up 28% this year followed by HK 20% better. The Nikkei is closed for Culture Day holiday.

Stocks in Sydney ended 46 better at 8165 as financials and energy gained. Oils were better but techs mixed. Mineral Resources ($37) plunged more than 9% after MD Chris Ellison was found to have used company resources for his own benefit. He will lose incentives of $9•6m, repay $3m and make charitable donations of $1m for the next 5 years. He is to step down immediately.

Morning all.

In some polls Harris is ahead but still a flip of the coin. I'm not bothered or impressed by either candidate but I think Trump might be favoured here over Harris who as a lifelong Democrat supports Biden's indifference to the UK and let's face it better the devil you know.

Putin will be pulling for Trump to be elected on the basis he will go easy on the Ukraine situation and they will hold a grand summit in '25 giving them both a palatable way out of the impasse. Putin will be looking to save face and Trump can brag he single handedly solved the crisis.

Trump is still the favourite with every leading bookmaker at odds of (4/5). Harris is out to 6/4 suggesting Trump is a shoe-in to be sitting in the Oval Office come Thursday.

I very much doubt our idiot Foreign Secretary Lammy will be getting an invite from Trump anytime soon, having labelled him a "woman hating neo nazi sociopath." And Starmer who only has eyes for Europe will be down the list, indeed if even on it, to break bread with Trump.

So much for the UK/US "special relationship." We can continue to be Trump's bag carrier in any ongoing effort in the ME, Ukraine and all points further East as our influence in world events wanes by the day.

Four months to chose the next Tory leader is a nonsense. Even the chaotic Labour mob got Starmer in double quick time after winning the 2020 leadership election when Corbyn resigned.

I guess Badenock the bookies favourite will win Sunaks parting 'poisoned chalice.' Time is on her side though the mood of the party in the shires is not. The plotters who shafted Liz Truss will be worming their way into Farages affection.

Given the rise of Reform who are more attuned to Joe Public's mood under Farage, leaves the winner facing a uphill battle to persuade absentee Tories to return to the fold as most of them lost their seats during the election rout and may not fancy another election slog.

Tories are 2/1 to win most seats at the next election. Reform at 7's and Labour even money. None of those appeal to me though Reform are the most popular bet among punters. The leap from 5 seats to winning 326 seats is a herculean task and one that odds of 7/1 in no way represents value.

Nothing in it in terms of volumes traded buys just edging sells by 67,100 to 66,800 on 266 bargains dealt over the week. Shares at 980 put on 30 having hit a intra-day high of 1020 on Wednesday. Another week passes by without any news updates for holders. The last communication of note was in July'24.

The major US stock averages ended the day near lows particularly the techs which tumbled 498 points as investors rushed to bank profits. Meta and Msoft wiped out the S&Ps gains for the month despite both reporting nos that satisfied many. On the Dow 13/30 gained as Intel, Apple & Boeing led the laggards.

FAANGs had a bad day but buyers returned after hours seeking oversold stocks. Amazon ($197) stood out with a $11 gain after reporting a surge in revenues to $159bn in the 3Q, followed by Msoft up $3 at $409. Apple cont down losing another $4 to close at $221.

In other economic news fewer workers applied for unemployment benefits indicating the nos of layoffs remained low and a report said the measure of inflation the Fed liked to use slowed to 2•1% in Sept.

T/bill yields fell to 4•27% from 4•30% but well up from the 3•60% level in mid Sept. US crude gained $1•33 to $70•50 while Brent surged $1•23 to $74 still 4% down on the year.

Gold trades at $2750 as investment demand remains strong though some traders think gold is overbought and a correction is coming.

Wall St ended lower on the day after the Nsdq had powered to an intra-day record high but fell back later on as nos from AMD and Qorvo down 10% & 27% respectively disappointed investors used to big tech smashing forecasts.

Further dampening sentiment holders of Super Micro Computer stock were shocked by the resignation of company accountant Ernst & Young. Shares slumped 35% to $32 on the session after EY raised concerns about the firms financial reporting.

Msoft was the main casualty despite beating forecasts in its cloud businesses the shares lost $16 to $416 on the day prompted by the co saying its 'cloud' business growth will slow in Q2. Investors are growing wary of techs vast Ai bets on the future ever providing an adequate return given the competition dominated by a few huge players.

The "Mag7" which now represent $12tn in mrkt cap a massive 20% of the S&P have been on the skids these last 3 months, collectively falling 4% since July. Disappoint the mrkt at your peril.

Yesterday the Dow fell 91 as 18 of the big board 30 lost led down by IBM, Intel & Nike. Heading up Visa, Amex & Merck. Boeings $21bn cash raise has stemmed the haemorrhage of cash for the time being, shares added $1 to $154. The deal marks the largest ever fund raise by a US company excluding deals where no new shares were issued.
