Traders & investors outside the USA were decidedly less euphoric on Trumps win as they weighed the implications of Trump's victory, more concerned about his tariff plans that could reignite US-China trade tensions. Trump has called for increased tariffs on China and other countries which could lead to renewed inflation.
However most investors sat transfixed to their screens astounded by rocketing stock prices following Trump's win on Wednesday. Though many little known stocks soared by 40% & more big tech joined in. Tesla soared 15% to $289, Google added $7 to $178, Microsoft up $9 to $420 and Netflix $16 to $781.
Banks had a good day rising around 6%-10% and Vix dropped to its lowest level since Sept. The Dow closed up 1508 points to a new record though 11 of the big board fell. The Russell 2000 shot up over 6% seen as a beneficiary of Trump's business acumen.
Trump's victory is expected to lead to faster economic growth. Bond yields also surged, yield on the 10ytb climbed 4% to 4β’28%. Bitcoin emerged as one of the days big winners climbing to a record $75,459, Trump being actively supportive of crypto currencies.
