Stock to end down on the day? Could well be, my mate a seasoned trader reckons it's odds-on. Nah, no way at all! Flat to a small rise imo.

Shares up 85? Hmmmm, very smelly to me! (Glad I wasn't a seller this morning!). Heh Ho all's fair in love and war. Afternoon all.

Heading into the half way stage trade vols & deals are considerably ahead of last weeks though buy and sells are evenly matched. Shares (930-970) had a better day but still well behind this year's intra-day high of 1130 back in late July.

The H/Y nos are a few weeks away and I'm expecting revenues of c.£55-60m and profits of £9-£10m with Eps of 45p or better. Due to the companies embargo on newsflow its guesswork.

Those nervous of what Red Reeves has planned have likely arranged their affairs already so the shares could go on the bull tack later today.

US stocks closed mixed yesterday with the NSDQ Composite scoring its 28th record close of the year. The Nsdq ended up 146 at 20,551 for a 22% gain to date. Tech giants Meta, Msoft, Apple & Amazon all report later this week. AMD and Snap report after the bell.

Google ($181) rallied 6% in extended trade after beating forecasts with record Q3 revs of ($88bn) helped by growth in digital advertising, cloud services and its Ai powered ad solutions. The stock off its $193 high is up 23% this year.

While the Dow underperformed falling 155 it's 6th losing day of the week as only 7 of the big board we're in the plus column (Boeing & Salesforce), it's still 12% ahead this year but lags the S&P's 22% rise. Propping up the laggards with near 2% drops Coca Cola & Home Depot.

Economic data reported this week include 3Q GDP, the Oct jobs numbers on Friday and the monthly house prices index. Crude held steady at $75 a barrel, Gold rose to $2779 on US election uncertainties and the 10y/tb traded at 4•244%.

Morning all.

Topping mrkt headlines was the news Nvidia briefly overtook Apple as the world's most valuable company. However as the week progressed Apple regained its top dog spot at $3•548tn, $102m more than Nvidia. Only 8 companies in the global index have a $tn value.

Wall St closed higher yesterday ahead of a packed week of earnings from mega caps in the week before the Nov 5 election. Sentiment was further boosted when Israel deliberately avoided striking Iranian oil depots and nuclear facilities by targeting military bases after pressure from the US.

Around 170 S&P cos will report this week including most of the "Mag 7" that have driven mrkts to record highs.

Google, Meta & Apple rose ahead of their nos due later this week.

Boeing, one of the most famous of the DJ Top 30 dipped $5 to $150 after it announced a stock offering that could raise up to $22bn in a bid to shore up its finances and preserve its investment grade credit rating.

The company is offering 112•5m shares in common stock priced at $143 per share and $5bn in convertible securities both of which have been oversubscribed. Boeing joined the DJTop 30 index in 1987 and has never fallen below investment grade rating. Any downgrade would push up the cost of capital for Boeing.

Morning all.

Everyone is younger than me Roger! I may not be able to tap dance down to my local but I still have my marbles intact. Be interesting to see if sellers have finished selling MSi stock.

Nearly 90 trades went through today not far short of the whole of last week. Buy /sell vols looked to have favoured buys by a fair margin but as we know means diddly.....

Evening Roger we had a bookmaker in S.London called Jennings, any chance the same outfit? Just realised they didn't sell bottled beer! They took a few quid off me over the years!!

Yea the days of proper AGMs are long gone. The last one I attended was Sphere Medical in the City which turned out a bust a year or so later leaving me with a big hole in my pocket.

If Doncaster wasn't such a long way and expensive I'd like to have attended the last couple. Perhaps next year?

Still all these events are going to get zoomed or Skyped so you won't even have to get out of bed!

And to think I once travelled to Glenrothes in Scotland for a Rodime AGM all the way from SL. Jeez I can barely get past my local pub round the corner from me now'adays!

As soon as MSi goes sub 900....won't be long now, I'm gonna rush in an buy 1 share to add to the the other one I've been holding forever.

Now you may think I'm being flippant? Trust me I'm not. As a once addictive goer to AGM meetings I had to present evidence of my holdings so as to attend and partake of any freebies (sadly much diminished since the glory days of the '80s) where i used to meet people much more interesting than self and sessions lasting080 well past closing time.

I used to keep a scorecard of the best AGMs to attend. You won't be surprised to learn Breweries were the best by a long way followed by THF thats (Trust House Forte) probably long gone now and

Grand Metropolitan who owned Mecca Ballrooms, bookies and Bingo before they became the boring conglomerate Diageo. They were pencilled into investors notebooks as must attends.

While my memory is failing i do remember an AGM at the Cafe de Paris in Leicester Square where blow up dolls curtesy of Paul Raymond were displayed, but all I got was 'blue cheese'... Come to think of it perhaps it was a Playboy/Ladbroke event?

I did bump into Mr Raymond a few times, a very sociable fellow who used to hang out in his famous Raymond Review Bar located in the centre of Soho which had a seedy reputation but attracted the likes of John Mills and Pgeter Sellers. He invested millions into property and London Theatres. Forbes magazine listed him as a USD billionaire. He died a good few years ago as a recluse after his daughter died of a heroin overdose in 1992.

Scare tactics by the jobber fraternity seem to be having their desired affect as investors worried about IHT flee the Aim mrkt. C'mon ffs most investors with a small holding in MSi ain't gonna be worried about IHT let alone cap gains.

Of course if your a successful entrepreneur a higher rate of cap gains tax will deter you if you face paying more tax when you sell your shares and discourage investors in your companies. Any tax raid by Thieves on Aim will stifle investment in some of the most successful firms that are left to face a hostile Govt with no interest in promoting small co shares or investors supporting young growing companies. This Govt will screw you until the pips squeak.

The lack of clarity around the Government's plans on IHT is undermining confidence in Aim the very business they were once (years ago) setting out to restore. No longer. Aim is now seen as an easy target to milk and devil care the hindmost.

The sheer lack of understanding is mind blowing until you realise its the same old tax and spend useless bunch of misfits in charge of our livelihoods and the economy which could see us relegated to the also rans of Surinam, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.

Hi Tav. Listing on the main mrkt would cost and we know the board don't like spending money so selling out to a larger company looks a good alternative. However who would want to buy us given our other bits and pieces?

Aim counters are being sold off disproportionately to others imo ahead of the budget on Wednesday. In MSi case the shares at c.900-940 could be earning 100pps by the F/y nos in late June. That would put the stock on a lowly 9x earnings. Regardless investors in MSi cont to sell.

Last time I looked the average p/e for the Aim All Share index was 11x earnings down from 20x in 2021. Granted a company of MSi standing, making profits, paying dividends (usually a good sign of quality) and founders retaining significant stakes wouldn't be included in that illustrious group but come on 9x?

Worth noting that companies listed on Aim have seen the average value of daily trading of shares fall 15% in 23/24. Markets benefit from high liquidity which is not the case for many Aim companies whose share prices reflect the current malaise in volumes, sentiment and the roller coaster rides.

That obviously needs to change. But where is the change to come from? Clearly the mrkt is unwilling to rerate many Aim stocks however attractive the fundamentals.

The recent addition of the proposed £5000 tax free isa allowance in addition to the £20,000 has had little impact.

Very much a case of damned if you do and damned if you don't.

It's a mixed picture across Asia this morning after stocks in N.Y fell last week.

However the Nikkei is powering ahead at the mid'day break recouping losses from earlier in the week. All sectors are posting gains led by index heavyweights, exporters, techs and Autos.

At the close the 225 was 686 better as the ruling LDP lost their parliamentary majority though the PM insisted he would stay on. Expected rate rises are now on hold until the political uncertainties are resolved.

In Sydney the mrkt is moving above the ASX200 level as iron ore and techs pull the indexes higher. Heading down golds and energy are limiting gains. Oils and Banks are lower. WiseTech Global shares soared 22% on news CEO Richard White is stepping down from the board into a consulting role. White will retain his $1m a year salary.

Analysts don't expect the leadership change to affect the companies near term earnings outlook.

HK and Shanghai are slightly better after their recent run up following the People's Bank of China pumping investment into property and local businesses in an effort to get the public to start spending.

China reported its worst Industrial profit nos since the pandemic, plunging 27% y-o-y in Sept. China's economy grew by 4•6% in Q3 its slowest rate since 2023. Beijing has a target of c.5% economic growth for 2024.

Starmer the uncharmer and Rachel Thieves are getting a right hammering from the press this morning over the term 'working' people. How pensioners who have likely been working all their lives and may have modest savings in the form of old privatised stocks and a few bob in the bank don't qualify is beyond me.

But then I'm not a millionaire politician with earnings over £400,000 getting free glasses, suits and other freebies who has no idea what a pensioner looks like, let alone one who has to struggle to meet the never ending rise in the cost of living applauded by your Govt, who said "prices won't rise under a Labour Govt." Which has to be an all-time first.

Remember 'Starmer the uncharmer' becoming flummoxed when asked to define a 'woman?' Wtf would he know about that or a Pensioner plight for that matter sitting in his Islington mansion hideaway surrounded by Pravda doctrine.

No surprise he blanked and bumbled his lame answer as he was completely out of his comfort zone. Swanning around with Commonwealth Ministers when he should be at the despatch box answering questions pertinent to the British public doesn't cut it.

Meanwhile Thief-Reeves strutts around No 10 eyes on the prize knowing full well the uncharmer is done for and the economy would survive any medelling by a 'know nothing' back bench Chancellor in hock to Union Barons. She has the prime get out of jail free card!

Yet, she was soon spotted quaffing Bolly at the Ritz with assorted Angla Rayner hanger-on's and has been's for a night of unbridled.....I hesitate to say passion, but you know what I mean.

Can Starmer believe his luck,

that a lame duck Tory Govt botched Boris's silver salver gift giving him the Presidency on a plate? Of course not. He thinks he won the election due to his economic blather which conned the electorate into thinking he was on their side.

Never in the field of human conflict have so many people been screwed by so few.

Wall St closed down on the day giving the mrkt it's first losing week since early Sept. This has added pressure on stocks where t/bill yields hit 4•12% making stocks less appealing.

On the Top 30 only 7/30 rose on the session led by Intel ($23) which is down 55% this year. Propping up the laggards McDonalds ($293) fell again following the outbreak of E.coli poisoning tied to its Q Pounders. Bigest loser on the day Capri Holdings owner of Versace and other luxury brands fell 50% after a Judge halted the purchase of the company by Tapestry.

UGG footwear one of the better named stocks now owned by Deckers ($168) rose 11% after raising profit forecasts and topping revenues thanks in part to the strength of its HOKA running shoe. The company raised its f/yr guidance for revenue growth by 12% to $4•8bn.

The Dow fell 1162 on the week mostly due to election worries where Trump remains the Street's favourite, the 500 losing 57 points. However the Nsdq posted its 7th consec wkly gain of 119 points taking its ytd gain up 21%.

A strange end to wk 43 trading with sell volume and trades much higher than a usual Friday. Whether the upcoming Budget is scaring investors has to be considered as a factor along with taking any profits investors have made. Shares down 40p.

No doubt Thieves intends to clobber investors by increasing cap gains tax & inheritance taxes and may reduce allowances. Whatever its going to be painfull. Rumours of cash and share ISA's being scrapped or revised seem wide of the mark to me though ending stamp duty would be a start.

Oct 30 is Budget day so seems prudent to await events.

Reeves set to clobber shareholders & landlords whom Starmer deems to be non working people. This Labour Govt classes anyone who risks their own money to make a profit as pariahs and woe betied you if your a scrounging OAP.

From memory I'm taxed on any investments I make be it via stamp duty, cap gains if I'm lucky enough. No wonder pis are deserting the London share mrkt in droves. Peel Hunt have done an analysis and reckon by 2028 the small cap mrkt might well not exist.

At least 75 companies have left or are close to leaving the London mrkt this year. This represents £94bn leaving London exchanges most held in firms listed on the 350. If Shell or BP decided to move to NY.....then London would be seriously damaged as a place to invest from a global perspective.

However one should note that US nos are skewed by the mega valuations of Apple, Msoft, Nvidia, Amazon and others. Down among the 'also ran' global companies, are still valued higher than London equivalents. Few of our Ftse firms would feature among the top 100 global companies let alone the 200.

For instance the global no 3000 has a mrkt value of £3•3bn while our no 110/582 has a similar value and our top valued firm AZ (£185bn) is ranked no 45 with SHELL (63), HSBC (94) and ULVR no (99) the only others in the top 100.

Goes to show in the 'pecking order' how low London valuations are compared to their global counterparts.

Intel, McD and GS led the "losers" not risers!

I'm up for a meeting but be prepared to pay London rip off prices with some West End pubs charging £10 for premium lagers. Of course we could go to a Wetherspoons for an easy on the pocket beer. The Captain Flinders is nearby for those coming from the North.

Disappointing nos from IBM & Honeywell pulled the Dow lower on a mixed to better mrkt day. Of the top 30 stocks 19 fell led by the aforementioned and Verizon. Intel, McD & GS led the risers. Most investors and traders are wary of opening bets in the closest election of all time.

Nevertheless the mrkt was cheered by strong nos from electric car giant Tesla. The company is forecasting bullish sales growth nos of 10%-20% for next year. Tesla stock gained $43 to $257 boosting its mrkt cap by c.$140bn to $832bn becoming the 10th most valuable global company. In earnings terms Tesla ($7•9bn) ranks 168th on the global most profitable list.

US stocks continue to be held in check by upcoming political events and election uncertainties as Trump and Harris flip flop for electors attention. Wall St is betting on a Trump win and a French trader has built a massive pro Trump position of $28bn on the political betting market Polymarket. Latest odds Trump 33/50, Harris 6/4.
