By the end of the week investors ran out of puff trying to drive the shares below £10. The bearish sentiment surprised me so close to the H/Y report when the bulls should have been out in support. But as ever day traders rule the roost these days and where a 5p gain on a trade is seen as an opportunity too good to miss.

In my experience investors are more often wrong than right, so sellers this week could be repenting at leisure though personally I don't think nos postulated by pharmhall and Roger will move the stock. I'm of the opinion the shares will fall back to the low 900's on uncertainties about future revenues. And if the nos disappoint, well look to the 800's or lower.

An increased dividend will have no effect on the sp unless the company have secured more contracts which is a MSi state secret. The "keep the buggers in the dark" might work for the board but does little to engender investor enthusiasm or support. Mind you little does these days.

Not all of us are obsessed by the sp and are we making money? Some of us want to see the company grow and become a valued business employing more people in the local area and getting a global reputation.

I take the massive uptick in trade volumes today as a one off and best ignored. As I said before i think short-termers will regret selling too early, but i guess that's the way to stay ahead of the game. Shares fell to their lowest since late Oct so hardly disastrous.

Impossible to track the buy/sells as they changed or disappeared without notice. I wasted most of my afternoon trying to make sense of the conflicting nos to no avail. According to LSE total volume on the week was 164,018 (c.69,000) yesterday) 6x last weeks aggregate. Shares tanked 115 on the week to £10. And I'm not in the slightest bit bothered.

Trouble is most of MSi is shrouded in mystery.....never good for investors trying to calculate a sensible valuation.

Took my own advice and added....

Very much a "who'd want to be holding these over the weekend" scenario as sellers come out of the woodwork. By 9:00 am 28 bargains went through the ticker (5102 buys/13,153) tanking the shares 70p. A good opportunity to add if you have any spare.

On Wall St stocks came under pressure late on after showing a lack of direction for much of the session. The major averages slid into negative territory after spending most of the day bouncing back and forth across the gain line. Dow futures see a weak start for stocks at open calling for a 160 drop. The DJI is down 239 points this week.

Investor hopes for a 25bp cut in Nov were dampened when Powell said rate cuts were not a top priority. On the economy jobless claims dropped 4000 to a seasonally adj 217,000 for the week ended Nov 9. Layoffs have remained historically low which is underpinning the economy.

Stocks ended the day just off lows. On the big board 18 finished in the red led down by Salesforce, Cisco & UH. Going up Disney, Chevron, Apple & Nvidia ($146) holding top spot on the most valuable company leaderboard. Among the S&P 11 major sectors Industrials was the bigest decliner with some of the bigest drops from defence companies, RTX Corp

and General Dynamics.

Motors suffered a bout of profit taking, Tesla ($308) fell 6% when Reuters announced Trumps transition team is planning to kill the $7500 consumer tax credit for EV purchases as part of a broader tax reform legislation. Rivian Autos dropped 14% to $10•25

on further consideration of the $5bn tie-up with VW.

Although the Dow eked out a small rise on the day of 47 mrkts generally paused for breath as the Nsdq & small caps lost ground. The Republican Party won the race for the HOR achieving full control of the levers of Govt which should make it easier for Trump to push through some of his more radical policies.

On the mrkts 12/30 big board stocks ended lower led by Nvidia ($147) who will report 3Q nos on the 20th. Boeing and Cat lost 3% & 5% leading the laggards. Heading up Amazon, Chevron and Home Depot.

Individual stock highlights included Spirit Airlines ($1•31) slumping 60% after a report the low cost carrier was preparing to file for bankruptcy protection and would delay release of Q3 results. Rivian climbed 14% to $12 after VW raised its stake in the EV car maker by 16% to $5•8bn. A lifeline to the loss making company as it prepares to launch its midsize R2 SUV motor.

US consumer inflation accelerated in Oct to 2•6% from 2•4% while the yield on the 10ytb rose to 4•45%. In the crypto mrkts bitcoin surged above $93,000 after Trump pledged to make the US the crypto capital of the world. Gold ($2554) cont to fall as bullies of the gold stuff withdraw to the sidelines.

Yea sold Ferranti to buy Plessey one of

my better decisions! I remember the ruckus at the time and selling before the collapse. Didn't have a lot invested I think a grand. Shame as many investors believed the company had a bright future. Bad management was its downfall from what I remember.

Blimey I had Ferranti and Plessey back in the day!

Morning all.

Some US tech stocks have crazy (to us) valuations. Can you imagine MSi at 100x earnings? Off the scale! Between these 2 extremes would seem correct. In MSi's case perhaps 30x earnings? That would be at the high end but achievable imo.

Of course we're going to need earnings nudging c.130p which would equate to a share price of 2130 way above the current depressed price. That would value the company at

c.£350m which looks ambitious in the near term.

Nevertheless in 2026/7 if sales to the US Navy/Army and other nations are above expectations the sky may not be the limit......particularly if Trump has not solved the Ukraine crisis with his mate Putin.

Mrkts await news of Trump's policy proposals re tariffs and key US inflationary readings later this week. Investors are optimistic that Trump's policies such as tax reductions & deregulation will boost corporate earnings.

However they also see an uptick in inflation amid increasing tariffs which will complicate the Fed's interest rate plans.

Yesterday stocks closed on a firm note lifting the Dow, 500 & Small Caps to new record highs even as the Nsdq settled flat with techs subdued. Nvidia has had an inauspicious start to its entry on the Big board but retains the No 1 spot as bigest global company ahead of Apple.

Of the top 30 stocks 15 lost ground led by falls in Boeing, Merck & Apple. Honeywell, GS and Amex topped the leaderboard. Tesla shot up $35 to $358 helped by Trump's America First policy, his closeness to Musk who will be given a senior position in a Trump government. Its been a meteoric few weeks for Tesla as in late Oct the stock traded at $219. Its now the 8th largest global company measured by mrkt cap valued at $1•123tn.

Oil prices declined on bearish sentiment and WTI slipped under $70 hit by demand worries from China. Gold is sharply lower amid a surge in the US dollar index to a 4 month high. Metals traders are also concerned about weakening global demand. Gold is down $130 since Oct 31st.

Morning all.

Some decent buy interest today could simply be investors see the stock as oversold and worth adding? As we know it doesn't take much to move the price......either way. Might just be jobbers messing with investors trying to generate some volume?

Asia is a sea of red this morning despite the positive cues from Wall St on Friday where the major indexes closed at record highs.

China's fresh stimulus measures have left stocks in Shanghai and Hong-Kong underwhelmed. There was no plan for local consumer support and the $1•4tn will be used to restructure local government debt. Lan F'oan Finance Minister said the govt was "studying" additional measures to recapitalise the big banks and strengthen consumption but did not provide details. The Hang Seng is down 340 and in Shanghai the Shcomp trades flat. Both mrkts will close 2024 ahead on the year. At the moment HK is up 19% and Shanghai up 16%.

Tokyo at the mid session break is off earlier lows now trading up 18 towards the close. Motors and Banks were sold but major exporters Panasonic and Sony were being bought. Bigest losers among heavyweights were Kawasaki Heavy and Sumco both down 5%. Bigest gainer on the 225 was Kurukawa Electric up 15%. The 225 is up 18% ytd.

Sydney closed 30 down at 8226 having been 50 lower at the morning bell. Iron ore miners and energy stocks slipped on lower commodity prices and a weaker gold price. Fortescue Metals lost 5% while oils and techs followed the down trend. With c.6 wks to the year end the ASX200 is ahead 9%.

Other Pacifica mrkts SK, Taiwan, KL, Indonesia, New Zealand are all down. Singapore up 8 as banks pull the mrkt higher. KL and Singapore are ahead on the year by 11% and 15% respectively.

Hi Roger your comment...MSi are 'in a bit of a niche by themselves' mirrors my 'may have found the perfect sweetpot for staying'.....

Pharmhall sums up the problems facing investors in

MSi.... 'Its off everybody's radar' and therein lies the problem. You may know a certain Warren Buffet started off with a ragbag set of companies in Berkshire Hathaway and look what he did!

Currently Ukraine, Russia, Israel, Poland and the USA spend more of their GDP on defence than the UK. Starmer has said the UK will increase spending on defence to 2•5% of GDP within weeks of Trump taking office. Currently we're at c.2•2%.

No doubt designed to keep the UK in Donald's good books for the next 4 years and hopeful of getting a break on tarrifs.

Hi Roger. I tend to look at revs firstly, an easy metric to understand as without turnover no nothing. However you need profits with decent margins. Last I looked net margins were c.12% a bit skinny imo but roce at nearly 25% is acceptable.

I think MSi would be a good fit for Cohort but we need to sort out whether we focus exclusively on defence or cont as a mini conglomerate. I think the days of MSi continuing as an independent company might be coming to an end but how they go about keeping the status quo I don't know.

I doubt Cohort would be interested in our other divisions and may consider our defence business not big enough to bother with. Makes me think MSi could soldier on by building a bigger all round Co. Unfortunately this will take a few years to reach meaningful revenues of say £500m+.

They may have found the perfect sweet spot for staying independent.....too small to attract any bidders, too big to reorganise? I'm sure others cleverer than I might have some ideas. If so bell me.

Stocks closed at new record highs yesterday as the mrkts ended their best week in a year after Trump's resounding win.

The blue chip Dow traded above 44,000 for the first time ever during the session and the 500 hit its own milestone climbing above 6000 briefly. It's taken the Dow just 12 weeks to gain over 1000 points as all 3 major indexes logged their best week since Nov 2023. On the big board 9 of the 30 fell including Nvidia, Amazon and Caterpillar. GS ($589) was the top Dow performer up 14% on the week.

Investors generally view a Republican controlled government as more favourable on expectations for deregulation, the potential for more M&A activity, and tax cuts to boost companies profits.

Stocks associated with Trump performed well. Tesla ($323) in particular had a outstanding week as it became the 9th company in the $1tn club. Shares gained 8% on the day and over 30% on the week. Axon the police and military supplier jumped 29% to $603 and Trump Media added another 15% closing at $32.

Little buy interest in MSi this week as weak holders take the opportunity to sell ahead of the H/Y update in 6 weeks time. Yesterday only 9418 shares changed hands with just 1500 buys recorded. Shares changing hands were the lowest since wk 38.

No'one is expecting block busting results in fact I've heard some investors say profits and sales will be flat. I find that hard to believe unless you have been privy to boardroom meetings.

Anyways vols and trades like most Aim stocks were impacted by Red Reeves expected inheritance tax grab of 40% which didn't come to pass. Stocks held for 2 years will be subject to 20% death rate tax, considerably below the standard rate tax of 40%.

With the ftse All Aim trading 40% below its level of 3 years ago their is a decent margin of safety for investors. So there is little reason to hold some of the lower quality Aim shares. I'm sure high quality Aim shares with growth potential will be on investors buy lists next year.
