Average p/e for the UK defence and aerospace industry is c.20x earnings. That would put MSi nos about right if we make 50p this half.

It's all very well ignoring your fan base of investors but you better produce the results! Small investors matter little in the wider scheme of company business as we have no influence. In MSi's case were not even an irritant.

The H/Y nos due any moment have record results to beat from last time. Most expect the company to top those. By how much is the question? I'm in two minds, veering to the lower end of expectations.

If MSi expect investors to work in the dark then I'm going to take a pessimistic view. Revs £60m, PBT £7m, eps 42p & div 4p. I shall be more than pleased if the nos are nearer pharmhall's forecasts than mine which should see the sp holding at least 4 figs.

At one time I envisaged the shares at 1500. That's for the birds. Unlocking value here is giving investors a major headache which may not be soothed by miserly dividend pay outs. Once touted as a rising Aim stock of the future MSi is now in danger of losing its shine.

The Dow hit another all-time high yesterday closing up 440 for the 4th consecutive day extending its winning streak to 6 sessions despite Trump announcing a 10% tarrif on Chinese imports and a 25% tarrif on Mexican goods.

However the Street embraced Trump's Treasury pick Scott Bessent considered a moderate and a " business" as usual man.

The star performer on the day was the R2000 small caps which hit an all-time high eclipsing the record it set 3 years ago. Investors believe Trumps policies will be pro small companies. Trump Media stock which has a strong "fan boy" following treaded water at $30 down 35% this month.

On the Dow 24/30 companies stock prices rose led by Boeing, UH & Nike. Going down Nvidia ($136) which lost its top mrkt cap spot to Apple as it slipped below its 20 DMA. Only 3 companies have a value above $3tn, Msoft being the other one.

Vols on US exchanges was 16•9bn traded well above the 20 day average of 14•9bn.

Morning all.

Asian mrkts are trading higher this morning following positive cues from Wall on Friday. The Nikkei 225 is notably higher surging 600 by lunchtime led by financials, heavyweights & techs. Recent data showed inflation in Japan slowing to a nine-month low. Profit taking trimmed gains on the 225 which closed up 506 dragging other Pacifica mrkts higher in the run up to the New Year.

In Sydney the ASX200 is moving to all-time highs with gains seen across most sectors, though financials are a weak spot. Of note shares in SG Fleet Group rocketed 24% after Pacific Equity Partners made a takeover bid at $3•50 for the car leasing company. The ASX200 closed up 24 at 8418.

Traders remain confident the Fed will cut rates in Dec by 25 basis after data showed consumer sentiment improved less than expected in Nov. Key US economic data will be released later this week inc readings on consumer price inflation.

Gold's recent 5•5% safe haven rally ran out of steam as traders booked profits on worries the Ukraine war is getting out of control pending Trump and Putin meeting in January.

Morning all.

Escalating geo political tensions between Russia and Ukraine continues to weigh on global mrkts after Putin threatened countries that have provided arms to Ukraine. He said their new missile could be deployed against America and their allies.

On Wall St the Dow posted a standout gain of 462 points. Of the top 30 stocks 22 closed higher led by IBM, Home Depot & new entrant Sherwin Williams. Nvidia closed slightly lower at $145 despite projecting 4Q revs above Wall's estimates.

Google ($169) fell 5% to a 4 wk low after a Judge said the company must sell its Chrome browser and take other measures to end its monopoly on on line research. Others facing EU investigations inc Amazon ($198) who are alleged to favour their own brand products on its on line market place.

Shares of heavy machinery maker Deere ($437) gained 8% after upbeat 4 Q profits and Ai company Snowflake ($171) soared 33% after raising its annual profits and revs 3Q forecasts. The stock has fallen 29% since going public in 2022. Vols on US exchanges were above average at 15•32bn traded.

At the rate were going Cohort might regret not buying us at these knockdown prices.

Where's the UK's Iron Dome system to protect us from Putin deciding to send a rocket over London? Well we don't have one. Given the size of the UK it seems we don't need Israel's type of ground to air defence system.

The UKs Bloodhound Defence system has been mothballed in museums and we are only just waking up to our lack of defence against air attack. The defence command paper acknowledged the challenge of protecting ourselves from attack is the most acute for 30 years.

A commitment was made to procure a ground based Missile Defence Radar for the UK. Since then that commitment has been pushed back to 2029 despite US approval in 2022 for the sale of such a system.

We may not need an Iron Dome but where's our defence against Putins rockets?

Wall St fear gauge index jumped to 19 before easing to 17 after a report said Ukraine fired a long range British Storm Shadow missile into Russian territory.

The Dow gained 139 led higher by UH, Amgen & IBM. Heading down JPMC, Visa & Home Depot. Investors were focused on Nvidia's upcoming earnings nos and 3Q nos from bellwether stock Target. Nvidia saw selling ahead of the nos reported after the bell but Target missed Wall's forecasts posting it's largest earnings miss in 2 years. Stock fell 21% to $122.

Others to feel investors wrath were Tesla & Amazon. Nvidia nos disappointed investors falling $5 to $146 despite another record quarter reporting net income of $19bn ($17bn) and generated ($35bn) in sales v ($33bn) The company retained its lead over Apple in mrkt cap terms but is well behind in earnings.

Morning all.

Heading into the second half vols are well down on last week with only 19,000 traded (Sells out pace buys 2:1). F/Y nos are 3 weeks away and this time last year the shares were trading at a new high of 970 up 130 on the day. Over the week c.230,000 shares changed hands.

Stocks on the Street moved to the downside early on but showed a substantial rebound over the course of the session climbing well off lows, though the Dow remained in the red.

News that Putin had lowered the threshold for a nuclear strike in response to Ukraine firing 8 long-range missiles into Russia unsettled investors. Stocks pared losses after Foreign Minister Lavrov said Russia will do everything possible to avoid a nuclear war.

Eighteen (18) of the big board fell led by Nike, 3MCo & UH. Heading up Walmart, Amazon & Boeing. Tech shares gained ground awaiting Nvidia ($148) results today. News that Super Micro Computer had submitted a plan to Nsdq HQ to avoid delisting boosted the stock 31% to $28 and Netflix hit a new record high of $871 after the streaming media co said 108m people watched the boxing.

Adding to investors optimism GS forecast the 500 to reach 6500 by the end of 2025 and the optimistic guidance from Walmart who raised their sales & profits guidance for the 3rd consecutive time this year. Confirming the US consumer was alive and well spending in the higher ticket range. Stock closed at a new record $87.

Morning all.

Another LRT from Friday this time for 1382 shares at 1080 was recorded today. With the shares continuing to fall I don't suppose the investor in the above trade is best pleased as he's losing nearly 100p on the deal.

To confirm that 12,262 trade was a late reported one from last Friday.

A chunky 12,262 at 1040p worth £127•52k went through the tape earlier. Someone showing confidence in MSi even if small lot sellers are ever present. Good to see.

Most MSi investors believe the H/Y nos will be ahead of last years record nos. I go along with that.

Sentiment seems to have turned against the company, some of it self inflicted as a few think the the board are not bothered about pis or the share price. No surprise there when your in control, you do as you like.

This gives shorters a free run at the shares so I'm expecting further weakness today in the share price. I'm prepared to add if the shares fall below 900.

You should note that all the Trump markets euphoria has all but been wiped out and the news Ukraine has long range missiles is adding to the possibility of Russia overreacting.

I find it strange that sleepy Joe is still making decisions regarding Ukraine. This might severely hinder any deal Trump may have with Putin to end the war. Trump should tell Biden to "do one" and quick.

Markets across Asia are higher this morning boosted by strong gains in China and S.Korea. Despite the indifferent day on Wall St HK rallied 200 from 6 days of declines. In contrast the Nikkei 225 is down 425 in late afternoon trading. Autos, exporters, techs and Banks are all seeing sellers. Mrkt heavyweight Softbank is off 2%. In the currency mrkt the USD is trading in the 154 yen range.

In Australia Sydney opened down but has regained losses to trade above the 8300 level as major miners BHP & RTZ are sought after. Gold's are seeing buying interest with Newmont and Evolution up 3%. The ASX200 closed up 15 at 8300 some 9% better this year.

Gold has rallied from the recent sell off on investor perception the gold stuff is too cheap. Currently trading at $2588 gold is well below its recent record intra-day high of $2790. Brent trades at $71

after the USEIA reported an inventory build of 2•1m boe. On a ytd basis Brent is down 8% while Gold is up 25%.

BAE Systems has drawn up plans to build an artillery factory in Sheffield as part of a multimillion pound investment.

The ftse 100 defence giant announced it will spend more than £25m to construct the 94,000 sq ft site used to manufacture its M777 lightweight howitzer. The weapon was previously used in Iraq and is in service with the Armed Forces in the US, Canada, Australia and India.

BAE said it would create 50 high skilled jobs in the area. This news follows previously announced plans by BAE to spend £300m updating its shipyards in Glasgow. It is also investing another £220m in a factory in Rochester, Kent, alongside £200m earlier marked for its munitions business.
