The flight I wanted on these dates are FULL. The second flight on these dates at a time I didn’t want at rock bottom prices are £186. Add bags and seats etc for 4 pax and there is not much change out of £1400. Cheap, I don’t think so.

Believe it or not gear up landings happen.Obviously in the check list it is a priority but some clever pilots know it off by heart. After bouncing the aircraft along the runway on the belly and engines it is a given that problems were about to surface. The engines obviously got the aircraft off the ground again but were too badly damaged to keep functioning. The aircraft has a sound safety record and I would lean towards pilot problems.

I entered quarantine in SA yesterday after travelling from the States. I am in a hotel and will remain here for two weeks. Not a problem as I work from home all the time. I have no gripe as only SA passport holders are allowed into the country and it has been in force since day one of the lockdown.
Now WTF the UK is up to is unbelievable. The clown Johnson has surrounded himself with even bigger clowns and made a decision that makes no sense. As everyone knows more than one million passengers have entered the UK from anywhere in the world without even a temperature check. Now it is likely there will be a rush of UK residents to arrive before June 08th and avoid the lockdown. Arrive one minute to midnight on June 07th no problem, a minute pas midnight quarantine. Madness.
Now an Airbus A320 came down yesterday which is tragic. The good news is the FAA need not get involved as the Cornwall clown has announced it was a mechanical fault, or so the wife says. So not all the clowns are in the government.

When I return on Friday to South Africa I was hoping to somehow get to the UK. I just called BA and was informed that regular flights from Heathrow to Jo’burg and Cape Town will commence 02 July. Now I don’t know what aircraft and configuration they will be flying but what is noticeable is how much the price has shot up. I can’t see them using the A380 although for social distances it would make sense. Hopefully cheap oil is here to stay.

I have just had a very interesting trip from Jo’burg to Seattle. The airports I came through were a breeze and it was a pleasure walking in the direction you wanted rather than being swept along with the masses.

Daytrade. Just to clarify. My “moaning” relates to what should have taken place and not what should take place in future. When lockdown was introduced in the UK no person without a British passport should not have been allowed in. Travellers with UK passports would obviously be allowed landing rights but then quarantined for two weeks. Now is not the time to bring in this semi quarantine rule, it is too late. As for me personally I have duel passports and would not hesitate to travel if I could get a flight.

I am puzzled when and if the two week quarantine is going to apply to passengers landing in the UK. Are they having second thoughts as they should or are they going to just sneak it in when least expected? Policing it is an impossibility. I need to fly to the UK soon and either way it would not put me off.
I am of the opinion that the airlines have taken hammer blow after hammer blow and it will only be better news from now on.

I fully agree with laallee. It shows how good the companies selected for investment by Smithson really are to have held up so far during this massive storm.
