The Wizz Air aircraft that flew from Luton to Tfs. over the weekend returned to Luton last night. It carried anyone who wanted to return to the UK. Obviously not too many. Tfs airport was a ghost town and and the only aircraft operating was the WizzAir. On arrival at Luton no checks and straight through.

The aircraft had 50 passengers onboard. All returning Spanish nationals. Each one quarantined on arrival.

Nobody can believe it but a Wizz Air aircraft took off from Luton at 18-02 bound for Tfs. What happens when it gets there is going to be interesting.

I watched O’Leary yesterday morning and I thought what a bunch of sense he spoke. The only point I wouldn’t agree with him is that from now until this time next year they will only lose one third of the 2019 numbers. I would guess at half.
What are IAG and Rya supposed to do carry the same number of staff with no aircraft flying and really dig themself into a deep hole which is unrecoverable. I would have got rid of a good deal more as recruiting after this crap is over will be no problem.

Everyone who got sucked in with the Wizz Air announcement that flights would be allowed to fly to the Canaries early next month, a voucher is on its way. I have received the plan and various phases for Spain. Only at phase 3 will movement between Spanish provinces be allowed (approx. June 08th). At phase 3 most establishments will reopen but only a 30% capacity will be allowed. If you don’t want a voucher don’t book a flight to Spain before October.

Here’s one for you Dougie. Ryanair have sent out an email saying vouchers for cancelled flights will be issued and in 12 months time they can be exchanged for cash if required.

As expected the unions are crying and saying this was a bolt out of the blue. What planet are they on. Don’t they know there is a bit of a problem going round the globe and they should be immune? My only problem is that it is 6 weeks later than it should have been.. The airlines that survive have tough years ahead and some won’t make it. Better to suffer some pain now to make sure there is a future.

This will help and should have been done 6 weeks ago. BA in the next 10 years will not require the number of staff it employs today. Pilots will be ten a penny from now on, MRO will still function on fewer aircraft and if as expected things pick up after this is all over they will have no problem recruiting.

dust. I can assure you that no non Spanish airline with passengers will touch down in the Canaries in the next 2 months minimum. Wizz will have no problem flying to a UK airport as 15000 passengers a day are doing this.

If this sp can hold up around present numbers once they start flying again it will spring to life. In fact there could be a shortage of aircraft. Since the beginning of March holidays have been put on hold. Most people who go to the popular spots in Europe will not be going until later in the year. Everyone will have accumulated leave and will be dying to use it. I get daily reports from the Canaries and all I read is how many people are in the blocks ready for lift off day. A bad Canary winter is much better than a good UK summer.
Can someone explain what the French being killed by a heatwave has got to do with EasyJet?

I merely pointed out that while a sort of lockdown is being adhered to in the UK it is being made a laughing stock by allowing 11500 untested travellers to land at airports, some from very affected countries. WTF attitude has got to do with that I don’t know.

Tomorrow 15000 travellers from all over the world will land at UK airports. There will be no testing, no quarantine. You call that lockdown

The only thing that has saved Boris from a good roasting is that he unfortunately got the virus. The government needed to act a good deal earlier and be prepared but weren’t. Even now the lockdown is a watered down version compared to countries who are determined to get this sorted. In excess of 100000 passengers will embark from aircraft at UK airports in the coming week. Some fu****g lockdown.
SAA has now finally gone to the wall and will be no more. This was a prime example of how not to run an airline.

I live in S.A. and no passengers are allowed through any of the airports. Compare that with the number of passengers landing at UK airports last week. 105000 from all the places around the world some with much higher number of infections than the UK. Next weeks number will be similar. Now looking at these numbers 200 Bulgarians pales into insignificance. The UK government seems to missing a few tricks.

bernithebiker is correct. A Ryanair aircraft was chartered by an Irish farming company and brought in Bulgarians last Monday. It makes a mockery of the present situation and proves that money talks regardless.

I like this RNS and the doom mongers won’t. I agree Norwegian are teetering.
