They're only losses when you sell, and this 7 month downtrend that a lot of stocks have been on since March will eventually trend back up. When you're nearly even you may take a different view.
A week is a long time in the markets I'm learning, so this time next week things could be very different. Good luck

Just read Hargreaves Landsdowne analysis of the update reported on 30th July, and they quote " the group are not in danger of a cash crunch anytime soon with 10 billion liquidity available"

All of the above since July 1st.
But this includes me adding as much as I could to lower my averages until I ran out of powder.
They're not having my shares at all right now so these are not losses until sold.
Just hold tight and try not to look as much.

That's just a broker who is hazarding a guess based on Easyjet, trying to show his bosses he's on the ball. Probably on a shorters payroll too.
It's not even 6 weeks since the last financial update, surely things can't have changed significantly since 30th July?
And if they did mislead in those results less than 2 months ago, is that not accountable through misreporting?

They had 10bil + liquidity as of July, one would think that's enough to see them through until transatlantic fully opens, currently thought to be November, why would a RI be needed?
It was dropped yesterday due to Easyjet, dropped today due to broker suggesting there is a risk of RI,
Imo BA the UK flagship airline is not going to disappear, when that idiot Biden realises that covid is here to stay and we have to learn to live with it, things will improve.
If Trump was still in power IAG would probably be 200+ by now.

Granted you're not going to make a quick inpatient buck but if you ride it out , nursing a paper loss like me or in profit, you will probably be rewarded well.
A lot of shares were in freefall last year and they didn't continue to fall, from November to March most rose. Peaks and troughs.

When micro updated the market in May and stated they expected revenue decline to 1.4 (5%) and sp rallied 10% that day, then actual decline in results was 1.43 (4.6%) and got hammered. I know profits were affected as stated in results but I'm still confused as to what exactly the markets didn't like/expect?

Fair size (0.19%) short increase yesterday, first one in about 3 weeks, maybe they're betting on more movie delays. Well they had a touch today.

Was just thinking selling micro to lower my cine average. Was well diversified in that ISa previously, and I'm well diversified outside of my ISA but got stupid with this one and ended with 2 shares !!

It's about time the directors had some skin in the game.

Thanks for that. I too had a nicely balanced portfolio in that ISA prior to 1st July, but when micro got hammered I sold a load because I thought micro was too cheap and would bounce back ( but it hasnt) quickly.
I'm just thinking of trying to trade between them for a day or 2.
Probably best to do nothing.

Got myself into silly situation where I have 60k cine shares bought at 86 thus 15k down and 9000 microfocus shares purchased at average of 510 thus 9k down , both in an isa without being able to add money until next year as maxed out my allowance.
Cine we all know about but micro is a 3 year recovery stock that got absolutely caned by 20% following results on 1st July, City didn't like drop in revenue.
Micro is currently 4 quid and although I'm confident it will eventually rerate and be a great stock, will take a couple of years.
I am thinking about selling the micro to be able to double down on cine and therefore reduce my cine average to 73. That woukd mean all eggs in one basket in that ISA.
Just wanted to get a few views on what anyone else would do.

What about all the people that usually die from cancer, strokes, cardiac arrests, influenza, which far outweighs even the worse death days of covid.
I've got no time for it anymore, it's a s--t of an excuse now, the figures released in the papers last weekend showing deaths and hospitalised people for all conditions showed covid is almost bottom of the list. Enough is enough, we don't all feel sorry for all those other people that always die.
Any excuse for markets to capitulate, fear to be spread by the media, if 200 a day die in the UK, so what , more die from car accidents.
