OWAN. I will ask but I think it was because BHP want to be friendly s/h and it was a friendly discussion with NM. Thus it was the only way NM would let them in. BHP clearly didn't want to go hostile and 100myn at 45p was his price, plus all the restrictions. I suppose BHP could have launched a tender offer for shares but that wouldn't have funded SOLG for next years drilling.

Quady. The slide wasn't easy to read, so will need to look when it appears on their website, but it covered all the various feasibility studies and financing and covered 2019 and 2020. So I would assume that they could start digging holes after that, but its a question I would be happy to pose. Also you could ask via the webinar on Wednesday.

The other thing I should say was that the room was almost full, maybe 100-120 people. When NM finished, a round of applause and then 80% of them left, incl me. I had a look in at the next presentation and there might have been only 20 people there.
Like a lot of exhibitions, SOLG and DGR have a stand where attendees can quiz the staff. Steve Garwin and Santiago Vaca and others are also attending, so if anyone would like me to ask some questions on Wednesday I would be happy to do so. Stupid questions and comments I will ignore.....

Just back from the conference. Don't know whether the presentation is available yet, but similar to last weeks, with one additional slide showing the timeline of the work needed to get to mine development. So quite a lot of work is already happening behind the scenes. If NM is faking it, then he is doing quite a good job of looking like he means it and what he presents could be ripped apart if he doesn't understand how to take a prospect to production.
A couple of other takeaways:
PEA -'confidently expect it to be very robust'.
Strategy: 'continue to strengthen shareholder base'
Ultimate value of project will way exceed current sp basis numbers coming out of the various feasibility studies.
11 other different targets excluding Cascabel. All 100% owned. (I thought originally it was 10 incl Cascabel).
He also emphasised the La Hueca prospect and one other which I think was Cisne Victoria. He termed these as the 'next generation'.
Met Anna, who said that they had a very full agenda with plenty of institutional meetings. Sadly she said she couldn't say who they were with, as the relevant instos preferred a low profile.

Anyone else going tomorrow? I have a pass for all four days, though I am not sure I will be attending other than tomorrow. NM is also presenting on Weds but that is wearing his DGR hat.

It's perfectly ok to make anyone an insider but that will prevent them from trading till the news is public. So if BHP were insiders on that news they aren't now.

I am also going to Mines & Money next Monday. Not sure how easy it will be to grab NM for a few mins but will try. Will start composing some questions!!

This is incredible, but I mean that in the literal definition. Ie it defies credibility. Why have SOLG drilled 19 great holes but all the other huge mines are represented by just a couple or in some cases just one? Is it that they have all drilled a massive amount of holes but only a few are great (unlike SOLG)? Or is it that they only needed to drill a few holes as the deposits were much nearer the surface and didn't so much 'proving up'? Or one of many other reasons that I haven't thought about? Its concerning me that I/we aren't really understanding this part properly.
If it is as first impressions, then we are sitting on the worlds greatest ever deposit of Cu/Au, and I haven't heard anyone say that, and I would need a lot more evidence to believe that, though of course would be delighted to listen!

According to their website it doesn't start till Tuesday and NM is on for 10mins from 10.10.
However he is doing 20mins next Monday at Mines & Money.

One thing did cross my mind is that Cu and Au are quite good hedges for each other. They will rarely move together in same direction. Cu being the ultimate economic bellweather and Au something that likes the markets in turmoil. While both can rise in the long term we may see one strongly outperform the other.
It seems incredible that we might own 17 of the top 40 and we have only just started. The other companies will have to start a chart excluding SOLGs holes as it doesn't seem fair. Like the Beatles in the 60s!

When I last spoke with Anna about this she said she would try and get it updated for the Mines and Money conf in London. I will re-check with her that this is still on the cards.

I did in fact take my namesake out just now and came back £10k richer! Last few days have been the other way round. I am no chartist but a small rally from here would look quite nice I would have thought.

Despite what we might think of the short and long term prospects of the company, short term movements can be random. Looking at the trades of ydy there were loads of really tiny trades, so while the vol wasn't huge the market makers were deluged with orders on one side. I presume they marked it down looking for buyers and didn't find many. I had a nibble but there seems to be a buyers strike.

There is an article in aljazera(?) about indigenous people in Ecuador marching against mining. Specifically mentions a Chinese mine, but that might spoke the nervous. Some of the many trades were really tiny.

Odd when NM has virtually signalled the PEA, in the same way he did MRE2.

Picked up 50 @ 35.50p. Wonder why someone gave them to me?

I cant see any circumstances where SOLG would give BHP permission to buy CGP. What would be in it for them? SOLG would just have a very large share holder with a large stake, blocking any further corp action by a third party. Any t/o prem or battle would disappear. They would become BHPs puppet. IMHO of course!

Excellent spot Sav. I did think there must be something like that. The short term performance of the sp could have been adversely affected if BHP bought SOLG. With nearly 25% of SOLG and 36% of ENSA there wouldn't be much incentive for BHP or anyone else to do anything and the sp would just drift.
As they cant do this it opens up the opportunity for a third party to come in and that would get things going nicely. This is perhaps the only way a third party could be involved barring a full blown bid.
Another master stroke by NM IMHO!!
