I had assumed that Newcrest were in it for the epithermal gold. Maybe if there is a break up of the assets, Newcrest can put their hand up for all of the gold rich parts?
As for share consolidation; its a complete waste of time and money and has no effect on the company. Maybe if the shares were 2p, but not 40p.

Also we still have 20myn options that expire at the end of the month. I don't think that any of these are held by corporates such as Maxit. I think they are all by management and staff and as such are more likely to be exercised and sold than exercised and kept. My guess is that we stay around here till these have been dealt with.

My rationale for NM selling to BHP now, was that he was concerned that if he didn't let them buy in on his terms, the alternative was a hostile bid at (say) 80p, which most of us here think grossly undervalues the potential for the company and the sp. This way he has locked them out of going hostile for two years and in that time he hopes that there will be a lot more prospects drilled up and a properly costed feasibility study on Alpala. Such that if BHP do go hostile in two years they are doing from an sp that might be somewhere between 1 and 2 quid.

Innocent questions are fine. Abuse of them isn't. IMHO.
They have plenty of exposure to the upside. Not sure how much they have actually risked in financial terms (what did they pay?), but plenty of reputational risk, which for some people is more important.
We await the next RNS or presentation with interest. Be good to get the options overhang out of the way and some drill and assay results would be nice...

Very good point. My take would be the more senior appointment the quicker things will move. The more technical appointment the slower. Agree?

We wont be promoted. SOLG needs to have a premium listing to go on FTSE250 and it only has a standard listing. When I asked Anna last Friday if there were any plans to have a premium listing she said there were no plans at the moment.
I think that is a mistake.

In addition to Anna saying that Cascabel might not be the biggest project in the company, Jason Ward's presentation today is worth a look. In it he talks briefly about some of the other prospects and leads. Some pretty exciting stuff there too. Hannam's US$75myn for everything other than Cascabel may prove to be ridiculous. IMHO!

We are still waiting on 64 TS. My guess is that it may have been held up by negotiations with BHP (not sure why though). So I wouldn't be surprised to see it in next week or so.

If this is true and you use the Hannam analysis, you can get to some pretty interesting numbers. Guys, don't pick a number that is just a few pence higher than here - do the analysis and I think you might be surprised.
The bull case is that start with Hannam big number, MRE2 is 2.5 times better than MRE, Cascabel is not the best prospect and there is a dog fight over the assets.
The bear case is that the government expropriates the assets!!

I have bought another 50k and will do again if I get it below 40. When taking the newsflow into consideration I would guess that this is relatively cheaper at 41 than when it was 23 ahead of the first BHP deal. That might take some understanding, but it is relatively cheaper.
I also think that the market may have missed Anna's comments on Cascabel etc. All IMHO naturellement.

Anyone seen Anna's presentation at MinesandMoney Toronto? Some huge, bold statements that will make you get quite excited I think. EG 'Cascabel might not be the best prospect in the portfolio'....

I haven't been able to work out the significance or the relevance of the 246myn number either. Just need to play around with the numbers a bit more I suppose.
My take on todays price action is that besides the unsurprising profit taking, it seems the market is slightly negative on the lack of a bid from BHP, but I am not sure that's right. It probably increases the chance of some corp action from Newcrest, or even a third party. Having said that would another company come in when two miners already own 25%? Possibly not.
I think this news should embolden the instos to get buying as they now have significant industry confirmation, plus all the technical news and an upcoming MRE. Maybe they wait for MRE but they keep making the mistake of waiting! I am tempted to add at 40p but already have over 1/2 mill.
Hats off to NM. He has played his cards as well as anyone could have. Mind you he does have 5 aces.....
