I dont know how many times I have to say this to however many bbs, BHP cannot go hostile unless and until there is a 3rd party bid, or the standstill agreement expires.
If NCM went hostile all they would achieve is that the deeper pockets of BHP would win. Unless Glencore, Anglos, Freeport or some other huge entity comes in, BHP will win. So why would anyone do this?
A carve up is a remote possibility. The point about the govt is a real issue. If the country love SOLG they wont want to see the back of them.
