Some of the journalism we have to read is so full of errors that it causes me to think about everything I read.

Presumably BHP and NCM have just bought a load of shares so they can establish some nice tax losses. Or AG must know more than the largest mining company in the world.....
Or maybe there is a third reason?

Thanks Shippy. Thats more than I thought but much fewer than I would like to see. A few market makers and nominee types which dont count. Also too many at the <1% level but I guess they have to start somewhere.

Somewhat naively I thought the reference to Can$ was because the press release was aimed at the Canadian audience. They didnt ref Can$ in the RNS ydy. I could be v wrong though.
I dont think that 'many of the shares are held by large instos' at all. In fact I think that there is a serious lack of insto involvement.
In some of the tables shown ydy the large banks quoted as holders are just nominees for people like myself who hold our shares at Barclays and HL for example. Would much rather see Fidelity, Schroder, Henderson, Jupiter etc etc on the list.

I am with BBG. If any price is good for NM and he is off to the beach, then so am I. However I would rather that be later than sooner.

I hear what you say addicknt about the veracity of standstill agreements. However my take is that BHP will be friendly towards NM, partly because that is my understanding of how they operate, partly because I dont think they will want to rock the boat with the govt, but mainly cos they had the opportunity to go hostile when the shares were 25p a few months back and ducked it.
My hope is that all the parties are circling their wagons whilst not wanting to fire the first shot and all the while the sp keeps rising. The first bit is happening, the second isnt!

I dont know how many times I have to say this to however many bbs, BHP cannot go hostile unless and until there is a 3rd party bid, or the standstill agreement expires.
If NCM went hostile all they would achieve is that the deeper pockets of BHP would win. Unless Glencore, Anglos, Freeport or some other huge entity comes in, BHP will win. So why would anyone do this?
A carve up is a remote possibility. The point about the govt is a real issue. If the country love SOLG they wont want to see the back of them.

I agree with most of what has been said. Its definitely good for the short term sp, but I fear the beginning of the end for the company. This could see the company gone for about a quid, unless they can offload Cascabel/Alpala and keep the rest. Shame as I had it as a 2-5 yr play for £2-3, not a loss of my company in the next 12 months.
Also hugely disappointed that instos havent wanted to take out this seller.

My take:
That NCM are allowed to top up doesnt allow BHP to bid now, so no change in circumstances there.
The fact that we think the sp has been held down and didnt respond positively to this news would suggest that the seller hasnt finished.
NCM will have to advise the stockex through an RNS and so will the seller(s) unless there are so many sellers so as no one goes through a % point in the reduction in shares held (unlikely). So we should see a sellers RNS too.
Nice move by NCM as even if they cant afford to buy SOLG they do have a bigger voice in how it pans out. If they lose out, they should make a nice profit on their investment.
If the seller hasnt finished, maybe BHP would like to buy the rest as part of their top up rights?

I am not sure why people keep posting their innocence and then say that they want to draw a line under it all and then post something mildly inflammatory. All that does is stoke the embers until we have another conflagration! Best way to stop all this nonsense is to ignore it. And as this is my last post on the subject, it will be what I will be doing from now on.

I agree with FTJNY but I will give Strider one last chance or he will join the others in my filter. Sad as he has made some good contributions recently but any more of this nonsense is just too annoying for words.

I have never read such utter rubbish from Chaser. How can any sane person say they know nothing about the company yet then in same breath have a precise opinion about its value. I think this bb is better than that, so he is now filtered.

Actually there is something that looks distinctly odd. Masses of trades between 200 and 500 shares, all buys. I cant imagine there are that many people who want to buy or sell £100 of stock. Weird.

I bet its those damn mm's manipulating the price higher.....

Schlemiel. Firstly I want to thank you for all your postings and the incredibly interesting info that you find out there. I am not sure others would have found it. I certainly wouldnt have.
However your work seems disproportionate to your size of investment. I am and many others have 'lost' a hell of lot more than £10k in the 10p fall. But that is the way of things when you invest in a small miner. Nothing goes up in a straight line for ever. This is a long term play, bit like mining.
I am not saying this to gloat or to tell you how big my investment is but to try and help you have the size of investment that is appropriate to your wealth and risk appetite. Too often PIs get bullish at the top and bearish at the bottom.
What I do in theses situations is take my namesake out on a long walk and have a good think through all the possible eventualities, all my investments and what if scenarios. One important thought is can you afford to lose a lot more and is there a price that you will have to be a forced seller. Can you afford to wait (say) two years.
I fear that you have too much, but (selfishly) I dont want to lose your good work and excellent newsflow. Keep the faith till at least the PEA and then re-evaluate.
Investing is for the brave and small miners that have no cash flow is for the very brave.More than happy to chat to you through other mediums.

We are seeing quite big volume at these (recent) lower prices. I would take this as good news in that we are getting rid of the weak holders (selling on a fall) and introducing new buyers on dips. But I bow to the greater knowledge of the TA experts, of which I am not. Thoughts?

Is anyone inferring that algos bother with a company with the liquidity of SOLG?

I have used this pullback to pick up another 50k. Of course the PEA will look even better when converted into £ with the weak cable.
