Presumably this is the other side of the AZ conjecture a few weeks ago that they may spin off their China business…..

Yes there may well be higher withdrawals from drawdown arrangements…..but i doubt this will create a significant reduction in AUM (and therefore fees/ income)….

SWS is just garbage……you will see they run stock articles and change the name and a few numbers……they do not reflect any actions / excpetionals because they dont do analysis….just simplified narratives and choose the story their algorithm things fits the data.

Apparently HK government has been speaking about setting up its own FDA / CNMPA regulatory authority……with the idea of accelerating access to new medicines.

I assume there was some announcement around midday HK from China that resulted in the Bios all jumping 7-12%? Any ideas 1pencil?

Cant say specifically about DB, but brokers have their own views……and sometimes they like to be a bit provocative to generate some deals…..

I just treat them as views but unless you understand why they have set a certain price target you are none the wiser than choosing a different tipster on the horses.

The house brokers often will have a head start on results day and they have a client to support so will try to say nice things….The announcements themselves always try to tell the best story possible so check what they said last time and the time before and what competitors say…..

Finding a winning sector and buying each way bets is better than trying to find the winner.

Heavily influenced by the Rand falling…..and the well publicised electricity grid and water issues. RSA in something of a mess…..and is making itself a subject of Beijing and Moscow….uninvestible in the current climate.

Looks like an over-reaction to me….(based on the news of the trial progress which is good in one respect and not statistically significant on the other)…the trial is continuing and it does not mean it will not result in approval of a better treatment.

I think the Chinese would prefer an in-market consolidation rather than a sale to Takeda / AZ/Lilly etc…..CKHH might trade their 36% down to 15-20% of a bigger entity and there would likely be significant cost savings in overlapping pipelines

The MMs will make sure there is a frothy price today but once it settles, the question is at what price will the next funding round take place at?

They will need more cash….the last round has seen large existing investors increase their stakes and it would suit them to pump in more cash at a low price and big discount.

Our interests are served by little discount….I am hoping it will be at 150p or higher rather than 90p price…..anyway once the final raise is out of the way, the commercials will be the driving force of the valuation and this can become more investable rather than a punt.

After market +33%, tbh hoping to go back to 145 level of not too long ago.

I have not seen this type of authorisation before, but on the pharma side, the FDA can give approval subject to additional testing (or in this case real world experience). I would hope the FDA would be brave enough to go down such a route rather than heaping delay upon delay.

I do fear a complete response letter is coming…..

Surufatinib ph 3 said to be ready….. unless competitors have raised the bar, they should start this…a global partner may want to see the results before putting pen to paper.

While the markets keep crushing small and particularly Chinese pharma sure it just means that big pharma / Chinese backed state operators will be able to buy private operators cheaply.

I expect those needing to raise cash will be easy pickings for predators…..good job for HCM it is looking like it is funded through to cash positive….looking to see them make progress with further deals

They may not get much cash upfront on any surufatinib deal, but they may transfer significant costs of a MCRT to the third party which will also help…..amdiz and sovlep to follow next year

Re Takeda’s cash - p10 of the corporate presentation confirms $400m cash was paid on the closing of the deal.

I wonder how HCM is going to measure it for release to the P&L this year - if the PDUFA date is met and is positive, that is probably ahead of what they were thinking when announcing the deal.
