Today’s gain was unexpected.
I only have 500 shares here as I consider it a high risk share....I watched it a couple of years ago as it sank from its highs and then bought and sold earlier this year....
I think this will go well ahead of the Next HY trading update...in early Feb.

This has now surpassed my target price to trade out, but is now demonstrating that I am not a trader as I think I will hold a little longer. The strong upward movement has not ended yet.

There should be a lot of news releases coming or new data posted on the co website....
I am interested in the composition of the new investors.....I assume they will mostly be the existing shareholders, but how many will have upped their holding % and which ones will not participate.
Also acquisition announcements should be delivered.
Market cap now approx 112m, need to put the new money to work.

They should do.....as well as smart meters they are targeting carbon reduction (care) assets, this is infrastructure such as batteries.....
They sell the shovels to the miners....

Overall efficacy is ok.....a cost effective strategy is give Astra/Oxford to Under 55s. Keep BioNTech Pfizer and Moderna for the more vulnerable.
This all or nothing approach is not efficient given AZOU costs 10-20% of the mRNA vaccines.

It is a steep incline upwards.....still going, would not be surprised by 700 in the next week. Whether it will then retrace as quickly as it has risen or will keep on going to 750 we will have to see.

Calisen is also on the rise, so it does appear to be a sectoral thing with more to come.

The new plant is Part of a long term plan.....
It will take a good 12-18m to get the phase 1 site certified for manufacture...by then there should be a number of products being distributed in China, US and Other markets.
HCM is thinking several years ahead....which I like as it shows confidence in the future of its products.

They were planning on getting mortgage funding to build the plant. If they want to do that they had better get it done while they have cash in the bank....otherwise down the track they may find they have spent a lot of the equity raised to invest in the pipeline on real estate and need to raise more funds.

We can over analyse the exchange rate issue.....as a GBP owner we have to accept this company will be paid mainly in RNB, USD and EUR. As it grows it will have need to invest in the markets generating these sales.....the currency only becomes a company problem if it has to remit to a central pot to pay dividends and I can’t see that happening for maybe a long time.

RMB a profits will go into manufacturing and new China development, US profits will go into US studies for globalising drugs and building distribution. I would not be surprised to see a western manufacturing site (US or EUROPE) to assure regulatory standards in western markets.

Easy to burn 300m pa on such investments.

As part of the separation from Pru, MNG agreed a deal with Rothesay to reinsure the benefits for approx 25% of the annuity portfolio. This reduced the risk on the balance sheet which was otherwise heavily weighted to longevity and credit risks. As it is a reassurance deal, MNG needs to hold about 100m of capital in case Rothesay fails (and the reinsurance falls away). The Rothesay deal also contained a court process for the business to transfer to Rothesay. This will allow MNG to use the 100m for something else.
Last year the court rejected the transfer for certain reasons relating to customer preference. The court of appeal has allowed an appeal meaning the court process gets repeated but with some guidance that overrides parts of the original judgement. Hopefully the deal will get approved the second time around.

Buy more.....it is the oncology drugs that will drive this company higher.

This is a USD stock so we can’t avoid the exchange rate risk.....the last time I went to NY I got $1.65 to the pound that was 2016 before the brexit vote. With UK printing record sums of money the rate could go back down as quickly as it has risen.

The rest of the India business is worth some 1.2bn what will the BOD do when they have spent it?
Hope the “core” business is performing well otherwise might as well shut up shop.

Does it matter to MNG shareholders?
Yes it does....analysts (informed by the company) estimate a 100m capital release (nearly 4p per share). It is part of the management plan to generate 2.2bn of capital over 3 years. So nearly 5% of the total.
Important to management v definitely.
