I think it will take a while for the sp to react to improving market conditions...news catalysts around trading updates and capital days may create spikes of activity but being at the bottom end of the FTSE 350 is quite a precarious position for Fund Managers to place large bets.
M&A is possible, but you would have to question why it has not happened already....however a PE outfit could take it private and then sell it to trade in a few years.....not sure trade will want the scrutiny of a takeover at present which could lead to questions about their ability to take on Just for a cash payout.

Someone is going to take advantage of this low sp to bulk up in Africa..£.4bn probably gets a sale....and looks like a bargain in 2-3 years time.

BBD I suspect you are right that there are limited direct holdings by Chinese /HK investors in Pru, but they are likely to hold funds and they might sell the Pru for liquidity purposes.

Anyway, the Pfizer news has changed everything for the western markets.
It will be interesting to see whether the Asian markets react similarly. After all they have a vaccine available now.
I expect a decent rise in Asia tomorrow and then some profit taking in Europe.

Being a non Covid stock has been relatively calming over the last few months.
Today we have the flip side, Covid stocks going crazy and prices of non covid stocks falling maybe as people sell these and chase today’s high risers. I expect many of today’s rises to reverse in the next week, but this will remain in the buy zone.

Hopefully surufatinib gets approved this year. It would be a pity if administrative and resource issues mean it does not. As CH said recently that the NDRL is only open to drugs approved at the Start of each year.

2021 should be a great year for HCM with surufatinib and Savolitinib coming to market in China, surufatinib in the USA, and fruquintinib getting the full effort of HCM behind it.

In the meantime there continues to be progress in the next set of products entering Clinical development.

Most insurance (life and combined life and insurance) takeovers are an equity exchange without much cash because significant capital is required within the business. Hence there is often not much spare cash in the bidder and little appetite to take on debt for acquisitions which may prove to have underestimated their liabilities.
It is how Aviva has been created.
The RSA business being a short term general insurance business Should balance premiums and claims much quicker than a life assurer (less capital needed) hence deals can be done with cash.

If Aviva wants to realise the value in its insurance it needs to separate it from its life office.....btw it spent a good deal of money putting them together over several years so this would be a U turn.

Maybe AB will try to flog the insurance business....or atleast separate it so it can be accurately valued by the market within AV.

CKHH is about to sell its telephone masts for 10bn EURO.
It seems unlikely they will need more cash from HCM sales any time soon.
They would have the firepower to acquire HCM in full....but I can’t see that happening.

The trading update should be positive....as the vets have been operating in catch up.
Good news they can stay open in the latest period of restrictions.
I also expect a few more branch closures to be announced as a useful cost management exercise.
The SP has recovered over two years...reasonably priced at present.
Buy if it goes back under 1300.

New drugs are delivering significant growth.
Forget the vaccine work....buy for the innovation and growth in this revitalised portfolio.

The cancellation of Ant IPO means there is a lot of hot money in brokerage accounts at present....now is the time for a HK/Shanghai listing (if they are ready).

Still don’t understand how a cash positive company is down 15% on September values when its fundamentals seem to be improving.
Getting heavily over sold in my opinion.

I wonder about the effects of the Ant IPO (now pulled).....there must have been selling of other stocks to fund demand.....now the IPO is suspended all that money due to invest on Thursday will be looking for a new home. (AIA was up 6% today in HK)
Will we see a lot of selling when the IPO is reinstated? Who knows but I would not bet against it.
