Recent developments in the #marine sector have shown that the industry is charting a course towards a more sustainable future, with the EU and International Maritime Organization at the forefront of creating new initiatives to encourage the adoption of low-carbon fuels.

Quadrise is proud to be working alongside biofuels specialists BTG Bioliquids and Euthenia Energy to progress the development of sustainable biofuels for the shipping industry.

She will also be in Greenock around the 21st back to Liverpool and then Portbury around the 25th. She will be passing my shores shortly if the timing is right then I may be able to get some picks

If you've ever had a "sugar rush", you'll know that sugars contain high energy in their long molecules. When sugar is oxidised or burnt, the molecules break down, releasing energy. I am hugely over-simplifying the chemistry here, but in essence, that is the role that pyrolysis sugars, derived from woody biomass, will play in Quadrise's Pyrolytic bioMSAR. Sources are abundant, low carbon and offer a promising route to a net-zero sustainable marine fuel that is commercially competitive. Watch this space.

I think the B100 offering must be attracting some investment or funding, the UK government will back Net Zero and so will the European union, plenty of talk of funding in the shipping sector also, I mean its nuts to think there's not something or someone with deep pockets backing this.

Already have a B100 net Zero product going for engine trial later this year.

Jason mentioned at the AGM possibly that they and BTG had jointly applied for patents for the blending of components for what is essentially bio msar zero, if this is where this collaboration is taking us then we should sail straight into blue chip territory as Jason also alluded to

If Jason pulls his finger out and gets this trial started, once completed roll out could be huge with Cargill and a ready supply of fuel

COP 28 showed how industry players can come together and drive change. This is clear from progress in the Green Shipping Challenge, which has seen:

- Amazon, Patagonia and Cargo Owners forming the Zero-Emission Maritime Buyers Alliance;

- Bilateral agreements on green shipping corridors;

- National regulation and action from US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Norway, Japan, Denmark, Belgium and others;

- Introduction of a training framework by The Maritime Just Transition Task

- Force to equip seafarers with the necessary additional skills and competencies to reduce the GHG emissions of the shipping industry.

- Doubling of green shipping corridors which are routes between two or more ports where zero-emission shipping solutions are demonstrated and reported.

One such collaboration that I am particularly looking forward to, is Quadrise’s work with Cargill, MAC2 and MSC to demonstrate our low carbon emulsion fuel technology on the vessel MSC Leandra.

Historically, over 99% of the energy demand for international shipping has been met by fossil fuels; and emissions have been rising over the last two decades.

There is a long way to go. To meet the International Maritime Organization (IMO)’s latest targets for decarbonisation, adoption of low carbon fuels for shipping needs to rise from 0.1% to 13.3% in just a few years. Biofuels are probably the most ‘technologically ready’ of existing alternatives. They are relevant today as a drop-in solution, and they will continue to play a role in the longer-term transition.

Phase 1 is commencing this month (January, 2024) by a third party operator, with upgrades to existing roads and well pads, with the drilling of the first of three initial wells also planned to commence as early as this month.

The operator of the project will be Heavy Sweet Oil LLC through contracts with Valkor Group, an oil & gas process EPC company with years of experience in designing and deploying systems for the processes and civil engineering for environmental, oil and gas projects including heavy oil, carbon sequestration, and developing systems for maximum efficiency and environmental sensitivity.

A3: Our low carbon low sulphur fuel project in the US is with Valkor. Since AGM back in November, they’ve since inked agreements with a couple of listed entities Ecotech of Norway and Trio Petroleum in the US to progress their oil sands and drilling initiatives respectively.

So, our current expectations are that the drilling permits will be approved in the next few months to allow them to commence drilling in Q2, and we also expect that they’ll be raising the project finance required for at least one of their projects to kick start the site license and supply agreement that we have already in place with them during the second quarter of this year.

From Jason, just one project financing will kickstart the licence agreement with Quadrise, maybe an RNS on the Utah project soon

Upon successful LONO trial completion and entry of a long-term fuel supply agreement, the parties plan to seek to initiate commercial MSAR® and bioMSAR? bunker supply operations to the marine sector by Cargill through the MAC2 facilities in Port of Antwerp-Bruges on a permanent basis.

From the marine update RNS, there will be POC on both fuels and LONO on just Biomsar before rollout of both fuels, nice to get this clarified but there was some suggestion in the past that the interim LONO results from Maersk may be enough data for Msar to become commercial, bonus if this is the case

Quadrise’s collaboration agreement with Cargill and MAC2 Solutions for its upcoming alternative ship fuel trials is "highly encouraging", says house ShoreCap.

Cargill is a global US$177bn revenue business and this update is a significant step in Quadrise’s journey to commercialising its fuels, said the broker.

“We believe Cargill is a very attractive partner for Quadrise, which could lead to future opportunities, given that Cargill has a fleet of more than 500 vessels and has considerable scale in global markets".

ShoreCap reiterated that the opportunity in the marine sector with shipping group MSC alone could be worth a multiple of Quadrise’s current enterprise value in potential annual revenues.

The chicken and egg scenario has been a massive problem for Quadrise over many years, trying to sell or trial a product (MSAR) which doesn't exist. Lack of availability held up the Morocco trial, stretched out the Maersk trial, and due to Cepsa getting pi55ed off with waiting for Saudi to pay their electricity bill, Cepsa pulled the plug on that supply.

Having fuel manufacture available at a bunker hub could seriously open allot more business for Quadrise. There's been no mention of fuel for the Moroccon trial but someone will have to manufacture it and it could well be the same source as the MSC trial fuel, Cargill and Mac 2, the visit by the Moroccon client to QED towers could well be a joint meeting with Cargill for the supply of Msar and BioMsar to their site in Morocco.

I got the feeling from Jason”s interview that he’s had a kicking having missed the December tripartite agreement signing, everything now is the next few months, to buy him some slack.

Nice find h/f, the more parties involved with Valkor, the more chances we have of securing our funding.

Ill stick my neck out and say that the tripartite agreement definitely involves Shell as the Oil Major, our fuel is definitely to be manufactured and bunkered at Rotterdam and the RNS is being completed and worked through with the No/Mad and will be released no later than next Monday if not this week.
