I think his comments are being wrongly Interpreted.
He is saying if a partner is found and p1and p2 results are shown to be good then we can develop this Vaccine within 1 year.So he us speculating but with confidence.
P1 has not been done yet but some pre clinical results look promising judging by comments and the ores coverage is fantastic

The articles are being readily picked up and as SCLP have contributed and “ endorsed them” by retweeting and providing comments then looks like next week could be very good.
Interesting to see if there is an RNS on Monday with further comment but am happy if anything comes out or not.
The good thing is that with the great financial backing we have with RM and Vulpes then we know the appeal for a big pharma partner to help develop Covid 19 into p3 and beyond is a genuine one.

You are totally correct in terms of being an independent academic expert and they do not usually mention specific Company's by name as it can compromise their independence.
I have experience dealing with many of these “ experts” in terms of doing KOL talks etc including having met Janet Daly and they are in the main very keen in maintaining their impartial status whenever they are appearing on any commercial platform.

The work of the VTF and choice of Kate Bingham has been imo a great success and yes you can always link “ cronyism” and the need to do more to many aspects of “ Govt” policy especially the early stages of the Pandemic when decision making was fraught with difficulty.
The support of a range of efforts to provide the U.K. with the best possible chance of securing effective Vax supply and/ or the best balanced choice of approaches has been total.
Govt funding is there to remove financial obstacles to the development of appropriate candidates at the right time it is not there to pay for the whole development and as BS says it was a similar amount at a similar stage for other Vax and they were already more developed at the start hence earlier backing.
The securing of a large pharma partner is important not only re the finance,it is about scaling up and providing much needed wider logistical and commercial support.
If SCLP do not succeed with their Covid Vax it will be due to the science not lack of Govt support

Like you I think that RNS is of much greater significance on several levels than many realise.
These “ partnerships” and been chosen as a lead player is not only validation but fantastic for contacts.Pfizer is a major competitor in my day job and I know how good they are and know Merck from my time with them.
The wider industry in terms of partnership and collaboration very impressive during the pandemic is one which I think Orph can really benefit from.
This not only means they are the go to Company for HC trials but as a wider supplier of CRO services to major pharma specialising in Vax and infectious disease.

Thanks for posting links and had picked up on the US one re incentives for HC trials.
We know that Orph have mentioned about developing a Pneumococcal HC model as know Pfizer are very involved in these Vax and think this has been referred to before by CF.
Dot you think this Liverpool one could be licensed in by ORPH as again I am sure CF said in one presentation this maybe an approach moving forward rather than developing them in house
