In general Company's seek FDA/EMA Approval as it opens up access to wider markets.
If it is an aim of U.K. Govt which makes sense to attract continued pharma investment then am sure it will be part of a package.
The real benefit will be in accepting rolling submissions and shortening the Approval process not in the trial process but by reviewing the data.
However it has to be careful that in cases where early Approval is not critical it is not seen as shortening the process purely for political purposes.
This could not only damage ots excellent reputation but increase the overall costs of getting drug Approval if EMA and FDA seek to impose additional barriers.

That is why we need the news about the delivery system so we can more accurately predict the timeline.
Assuming this does not take too long and using every option such as HC trials if necessary then I would estimate very late Q3 at the very earliest but much more likely Q4/21 or even Q1/22.

Understand how the differing approaches can interact and plenty of food for thought.
From SCLP point of view consider prime thing is to get it into clinic ASAP and hopefully with all extra resources they may at best be able to get it Approved in a years time.
Sure using it in Combination with other Vax will be for future consideration and of course close co operation between commercial outfits is more difficult than between integrated outfits.
I know we recommend a single booster to one of our Vax re flu strains to account for 2 new antigenic field strains but one of our customers gives 2 injections mainly as a commercial decision although it is likely to produce a marginal boost in immune response

Plus SAEs how do you allocate “ blame”.
I know about the importance of maintaining strict Vax protocols and many of the issues that arise from using different Vax and whether you boost with a one or two shot Vax to improve antigenic protection against different viral strains

The important thing is the collaboration and the need to get the best preventative programme whether single or Combination.
But you have to do trials and you can’t test everything and that is why this is so important.
So if you have an initial course of two same Vax or one of each then how do you interpret which one has worked best but if you want to give further booster how long do you wait normally one year so they will have to be done in 2022 when I think the priority is to have best protection ready for Winter 2021.
Yes you can do HC studies to accelerate development but whatever the main priority is to get Covidity into the clinic ASAP hence the delivery mechanism announcement is such an important piece of news

Hi Burble just so I am clear as I do feel this is a very important clarification.
Are you saying an initial dose of Covidity and say a boost with another ie AZN Vax as part of an initial prime and booster course like I think you are indicating or a normal prime and boost using the same Vax and then followed by another booster Vax.
I say that in the knowkedge that Covidity will be a two injection process

Yes interesting point about mixing Vax and first I have seen mentioned in SCLP context.
Only real reference to mixing has been Oxford and Sputnik and presume they are talking about initial prime and boost then a further boost with different rather than different primers and initial boosters.
The latter would be a very interesting development for other Vax and possibly SCLP

Really sad new about the new variant and the tighter restrictions and although new mutations are expected we do hope that the first generation Vax will cope and work well vs the new variant.
We all knew the world needs 2nd generation Vax and the news about choosing the best candidate was an excellent step forward.
So looking forward to news on the delivery system next.
SN14 is the DNA plasmid candidate. In parallel SCLP are developing a peptide based nanoparticle delivery system for this plasmid in collaboration with the University of Nottingham, which would be more suitable for mass immunisation as compared to the electroporation delivery method (which would likely work, just not practical).
Once we have that news and yesterday’s announcement gives it an additional importance the move to the clinic should be accelerated.
That is what imo likely to be the most important result of the current situation until we know more details of the new variant which will be the number 1 priority amongst the scientific community.
We will win this battle but will take a lot of sacrifice in the coming months and let us remember the words of Sally Adams and others at last weeks event who said the most remarkable and best feature of the scientific community in fighting this pandemic has been the collaboration.
It is this that will help us all succeed and moving forward it is important this effort intensifies as much more important is to win this with a variety of weapons in the armoury not trying to predict which one may or may not prove to be the solution

Ray of course you are correct about being combined with the Immunobody platform.
The main point which Burble articulated is to differentiate between the candidate ie SN14 which is specific vs Corinavirus variations and the platforms both IB and Avidmab which have the ability to extend the protection vis other non Covid related infectious diseases like Flu etc

Hi Bill,Burble will know better but I think the comments related to SN14 are specific to Coronavirus and yes may cover other variants such as MERS, SARS etc and mutations of Covid 19 as it targets the Nucleocapsid which is probably more core than the Spike GP.
I think the comment re infectious diseases refers more to the Avidmab platform in increasing the cell Avidity

They were the main points raised during that 2nd generation Covid Vax event I attended so targeting multi antigens, targeting T Cells and CD4,CD8 and B Cells and N protein as well as vNaBs and Spike glycoprotein.
Plus DBA Vax are so much less complex that the RNA based ones to scale up and manufacture and cheaper

Sorry for OT North Sea Tiger but more interest may be the announcement from SCLP which has chosen its Covid 19 Vax candidate.Once they do their P1 then that could well be the third candidate for the HC trials for the Govt contract as they are likely to give spots to U.K. based and backed Vax candidates and 2nd generation Vax
