June 2021. Dividend reinstated. Share price had climbed to 580p by then. It had climbed without dividends. Look at the charts.

Post dividend, it has been a steady decline. I think that says it all.

GLS is owned by RMG. It does not have to be sold/spun off. Despite Thompsons assertions.

So, these cost saving initiatives shouldn't include the dividend, because they need investors?
Who invested when RMG took a 2 year break from paying dividends, if that's the case?
I think the dividend will be cancelled. If it's not, then the word hypocrisy springs to mind. You can't plead poverty and then pay out millions. IMO.

And back to GLS. Why would RMG sell off GLS when the company was bought to get a foothold internationally? Not forgetting of course that GLS was bought before privatisation. 1999 i think. And wasn't it from Rico Back?

An excellent watch.
The thing i took away from this, is the time it takes. From government agreement, to funding, to building.
It would also appear that ACP's preliminary figures for mine build stack up very well.
Would you agree that we are 1-2 years behind BKT? A longer hold than anticipated.
I wish Matt Bull would do a similar face to face.

If Thompson is to be believed, wouldn't it be prudent to cancel next months dividend? And every dividend going forward.

We'll have to disagree there. Are you fully supportive of Thompson? You've been quite vociferous here about bonuses and dividend payments, that you didn't necessarily agree with. Two of the things that have led to the first ballot and possible subsequent strike action. In regard to the whopping pay rise.

While the exceptional pay rise got the expected turn out and result, i believe it to be secondary.
T's and c's are where the real problems lie. Put the two together? Not a good mix.

You may be aware that i'm building up a strike fund, courtesy of RMG. I'm looking at a grand by the 26th. So, eleven days paid for. Not great, but a start. It's odd that because of failure to recruit, i've managed to build this small pot up. And without working over my time.
All of my workmates feel the same, so the long haul it is.

Do you think Thompson will still be in a job at the end of September, if these first 4 days of strikes go ahead?

I would hope that the 28% know exactly what they are, in effect, voting for.

Why can't letters, unmeasured items, SD's and early tracked items go on delivery early in the morning, and all the items that miss that morning delivery go out in the afternoon. Using the same vehicles from the early morning delivery. Delivery spans would obviously increase, but the working day wouldn't.
I have seen how many LAT items flow through to my parent MC. Not many at the moment.

If what i was told is right, it's the long haul. It would have to be a quite spectacular agreement to have these vans, either laying around or using up juice, when they would not be needed. RMG are paying casuals when they are not needed, so anything is possible, i suppose.
I haven't seen any date agreed for the meeting. So, i would assume that a date would have to be mutually agreed. Not necessarily a big issue, if nobody has actually called it off. It's just been suspended until next week.

News reaches me that the hire vehicles brought in for the agency casuals to cover IA, are on a 6 month lease.
This is from a mail centre manager, not a COM.

Doorstep collections have gone through the roof in my office, and drop offs into CSP's have reduced significantly.
We are now up to 2 yorks per day of consumer collections.
Factor in photo on delivery, deliver to neighbour or safeplace, and the time on delivery is increasing. With this not so new idea about bringing flat pack boxes to the customer, it will only increase that time.
I actually think that the whole collection on doorsteps is an absolute goldmine for RMG. But at the expense of letters and untracked packets. So everyone, and that includes the public, better get used to an even worse service than we provide now. Because there is no way that RMG will give you any more time, to perform what is now becoming a daily and time-consuming task.

Monday 29th is an official holiday, and i'm working Saturday 27th. So i'm hardly striking over a bank holiday. Nor are any of my workmates in delivery.

I'm reliably informed that this was posted on workplace. Why Thompson feels the need to let "the team" know this via social media, is beyond me. I haven't heard anything from the CWU negotiators though. Which i find slightly odd. Could Thompson just be bumping his gums for the sake of it? I hope not.

Good news if this is right. And i hope that all issues are covered, not just the pay rise.
I still don't think there'll be a resolution (i'd love to be proven wrong), but at least the direction we are heading in is positive.
Less than two weeks to IA. But the managers strike was called off a couple of days before action. So still plenty of time.

Let me tell you where i am on this management restructuring etc; and the points you mention.
The pay offer? Please see one of my previous posts. In short, 38K-43K this year , role change. 46K next year and 49K the year after. The old DOM role pay was protected for 2 years, so when year three came around it was a pay rise.
Additional hours? Some maybe, but the majority? No chance.
Role changes? I've already said i see no difference. But that doesn't mean there isn't.
VR? Loads applied in my area, some got it. But now there is an apparent shortfall here, so they are re-hiring. Another waste of money.
Re-applying for your job? It was basically an assessment. And believe me, some awful managers passed.
Surplus list? Doesn't exist.
Moving to another area/function? They tried to locate managers as close to their homes as possible. So not necessarily a bad thing.
All of the above is from one or more of my white-collar friends.

Now compare this to my 2% pay rise and the changes RMG want for posties.
Not moaning. Just a comparison for you, through the eyes of a blue-collar worker.

But you can't work in a delivery office. Certainly not one like mine.
Why do you think that a lot of managers voted for IA?
My understanding is that it was the new roles they were expected to take on. Nothing has changed, that i can see.

I've been called worse.
But we are not allowed to use any derogatory terms or be in any way confrontational to anyone at work. I'm sure you know that as a manager. I adhere to the rules and am extremely courteous to everyone at work.

I've got lots of management friends. I converse with them. I've even socialised with a few. And yes. I tell them what i think. Personally, i don't care who does what or how much they get paid. I don't get paid for that. But management do. It's alright for you lot to call for changes, but you are the very people who are paid to implement things. And you can't or won't.

Lost contracts? Speak to Thompson. He knew this would happen. I'll tell what he'll do. Straight to workplace and try to convey a message to people who don't actually agree with anything he says.

A question for you JBT. As a manger, did you vote for IA?
