Firstly, i didn't say 8,000 managers. I wouldn't know how many managers there are in RMG or indeed whether any increase applies to all or some.
Secondly. You need to revisit the RNS that speaks about people costs. Your figure is wrong. Unless of course there were two different figures given out by RMG.
And finally, i was making a point about how much that the managers pay will be going up. Not necessarily gospel, though. NOT including the recent bonus.

More concerning is the business RMG will lose.
We all know it's going to happen. As we get into October, mail increases significantly. Including packets. Can you see any business wanting to use RMG if they don't know where these items are?
No doubt Thompson has a fail-safe plan in place to deal with this.
But first, he has to convince the senders.

I tell you what i did notice. The amount of staff asked to work there day off. Plenty of them.
Plus we have agency staff. I couldn't tell you how many though. We initially started with 3 and on Tuesday there were at least 6.

Not sure about your office, but the chaos in mine is shocking. The amount of special deliveries just lying around the office, you wouldn't believe. Dozens of items left in vans. Nobody knows if they have been attempted or not. No scans.
I spoke to a MC friend today, and he says that the distribution area is full. That was at 6.30am.
After 2 days IA next week, and the ever-helpful agency staff on nights, it will be worse than crimbo.

And yet another national agreement broken by RMG. The payment if your rest day falls on a bank holiday has been withdrawn. Now, that is what i call petty. Grievances have been submitted in my office, and i hope that all affected by this, they do the same.

I'm not sure if these figures are used in the daily traffic. I imagine they would be. Letters are down though, from when i started.
But another point you raise is valid. We do have less posties. We do have manual sorting. And we do have more parcels.
We also have doorstep collections. And photo on delivery. And soon to arrive, bring a box. All time consuming.

Every person within RMG now knows about D..K.
There are thousands of shareholders still holding their initial allocation and continuing to buy, through the monthly savings scheme. And believe it or not, they do take an active interest in what happens.

If somebody was to drive 70 yards, it would be quicker than walking or running the same distance. More efficient for the business.
So, in this case 70 x 2 = ??????. I'll let you work it out on your calculator. But twice as long.
I agree letters are on a downward trend, but they are not quite finished. I assume that you are not an employee by that statement.
Junk mail is done for? One of RMG's most profitable streams of work. They push this as hard as they can. Extremely lucrative. And while contracts are down in summer, they always are. A bit like mail, in general.
Somebody else is delivering parcels??? NOOOOOOO!!!!! Have you told the press? You can get great money from a headline story like this.

Somebody on here called posties thick the other day. It appeared to be a generalisation, and everyone is entitled to their opinions.
However. Can you believe that some staff in my office turned up for work an hour before their actual start times, the day after the strike? So maybe that term applies to some.
That's why work to rule has never, and will never be used as a bargaining tool.

While you may be right, there hasn't actually been any news to the detriment of the company.
So, yeah, things aren't panning out as many, including myself, had hoped for. But on the flip side there hasn't been any bad news. Or any news at all.

Something you may like to know. Prior to privatisation in 2013, Royal Mail made £450M profit, including GLS.. And the forecast this year is?? Stockopedia says £250M? You say GLS £350M? So, RMG - £100M. But if you take away the dividend next month, and add it to stockopedias figure, things look a whole lot rosier. This privatisation thing has really worked out!

Letters are declining, i agree. But if my delivery span reduces because of the amount of mail i have, surely it's better to increase the size of my delivery. Letters and parcels separate. It works for me.

No idea. But i've already said that. If anyone can shed any light on the government standing, it would be welcome.
So, until that happens, regardless of what the current government think about RMG, IA or anything else company associated, that is who ends up owning it, if things go wrong.
Funding will come from GLS. Despite your assertions that the financial side is kept separate from RMG, things will change. And if GLS is sold, then it will land at the tax-payers door.
