You've echoed what i'm going to do. I'll get a bit battered and get an Indian takeaway.
Just to show the general feeling in my office. The majority of staff were actually hoping there would be no resolution today.
They accepted they were going to lose 2 days' pay, and thought they would just enjoy the long weekend. And had made plans for it. I never thought i'd say it, but they seemed almost happy.

And talking about redundancies, after the recent management cull, three times in the past two years. There are massive posters asking for new managers. This under the watchful gaze of Thompson. What a manager. What a TEAM guy.
Make loads of redundancies. Pay out millions. Then pay out more re-hiring. And the shareholders here are happy with the great man's performance.

I'm starting to hope that D..K and VESA do take over the company. I hope that GLS does get sold or spun off.
The shareholders here hoping for 4 quid a share will be very disappointed. They may get a few dregs in the new company.
In the meantime, RMG is renationalized and becomes a burden to the taxpayer, many of whom are on this board. You and i can then go back to providing a decent service, as more vacancies will be filled. Courtesy of the taxpayer of course.
And the best thing? We will still have our renumeration package and the majority of our current t's and c's.

So how are they going to cover off the cost of these extra hours? I get that they want to stiff the posties for "X" of pounds per week. I get that they will try to claw back money on sickness and overtime. But this will not cover half of what i've mentioned.
Plus, the service will be worse than now. Something that the shareholders outside of RMG clearly do not care about.

Oh dear. Let me give you an example of where this starts to go wrong.
On any given day we will have 48 (ish) staff in my office.
How many hours do you think are given to RMG by staff coming in early and not taking meal breaks?
We won't even mention what happens on delivery.
The very best-case scenario would be 30 minutes per person, on average. 24 hours per day. 144 hours per week.
Now if my office want to take back those hours, we can. If every delivery office does the same, do you know how much that will cost RMG?
I'll let you do the mathematics. You can borrow my abacus from the 1970's if you like.

He's punishing the very two groups of people he should be looking after.
And he gets paid handsomely for this. As well as raking in bonuses for not meeting targets.
I also understand that the 1K-1.5K payments for attendance by mangers up to the end of October, is in fact part of their target bonus for next year. That they will never meet.
Still. At least he has workplace to fall back on.

You want me to take what will effectively be a pay cut and a complete overhaul of my current working week (not needed or justified IMO), just to increase profits that will ultimately pay you a dividend.

How odd that a white-collar worker has just echoed the sentiment of probably 90% of posties.
There is nothing hostile in my posts, just facts. But you do agree that the up-coming strikes strike a chord with you.
Why should i agree work "X" amount of Sundays when this is the day i generally see my grandchildren, if the great and the good are not expected to do the same. I work 5 Saturdays out of 6. Do you? NO! But if your t's and c's were to be changed dramatically, to include weekend working, you may well throw your toys out of your pram.

I'm not sure how many non-ops managers there are, but that would equate to in excess of 300 quid each for that Saturday. So, on a yearly basis that amounts to 75 grand a year.
Why would you not just turn up. You'll deliver about 30 items. Chat to other managers about something, deliver for a maximum of 2 hours, then go home.
Maybe you should champion us posties striking more often. It's obviously beneficial to the white-collar brigade.
Is Thompson turning up next Saturday?
