I've said that Thompson wants us to strike. What the overall picture is, we can only speculate.

And RMG rejected the request.
They could have said we'll give you 4.5%, put it to your members. But they said a flat no.
Both the same is the point i was making.
The silly thing is, that if RMG had dangled a guaranteed one-off payment with that 2%, the majority of staff would have accepted it. I definitely wouldn't have. But the voting process is there for a reason.

In my area we have 3 suggested (soon to be enforced?) parcel hubs.
I don't know if there is any other purpose for these hubs other than delivery. I could be wrong.
So, IMO, these hubs will be used to capture and deliver what we call LAT's. Items correct for delivery the following day but have been received into the network too late to meet the posties in the morning.
On a recent mail centre visit i was shown how many yorks there were for my area. There was 4. That's it. Overtime is paid to carry out this work.
I do accept that later acceptance times for guaranteed next day delivery will increase this figure though.
What i don't get is changing everyone's hours to facilitate the delivery of these items. It's not necessary.
Delivery of letters do not matter to the managers, from the delivery office anagers right to the very top. But they are not allowed to say that.
You can have your localised hubs, later start times and you'd have willing staff to deliver too. And that would "probably" include Sunday as part of your rota.
I really do not understand Simons thought process.

While no figure was quoted when the CWU asked for a pay rise in line with inflation, it was considerably lower than now.
Wasn't that request rejected? So, the hierarchy have by the same token, rejected a request that they didn't know the figures for.
Thompson has clearly stated that this enforced pay rise is final, so we will be striking.

Absolutely not. But if you and your colleagues are happy to accept this, it is your choice. And it's still 140% higher than us posties. I wonder if our Simon had given us a pay rise in line with inflation, when it was asked for by the CWU, would we be striking soon? (Not including the upcoming result for the t's and c's ballot).
I think CPI was at 5.5% at the time. That is what i believe RMG base our pay increases on.

As a PLC all employees, excluding white collar workers, are not allowed to have a voice.
We are meant to eat whatever sh*t is thrown our way, and be thankful that we have a job.
The majority on this board wouldn't last 6 months in a posties job.

Let's drag up the fiasco of paying VR to thousands of managers over the past 2 years. Only to be hiring managers again. As part of their dispute resolution process.

I know this resonates with many working for RMG.
And regarding getting mugged? I had that same conversation today with someone who delivers to an affluent area.

You're doing the job. And can see the many problems going forward.
Personally, i'm not concerned about the money, it's what is proposed going forward that is concerning.
I still can't get my head around local parcel hubs. Are these meant to be delivering parcels? Late parcels? Why do you need to shift all staff start times later, if you already will have staff in post to capture these items?

So, going back to agency staff.
3 attended today, 4 hours each, and took out 31 parcels.
I think Simon is going to need a bigger workforce.
We've also got 7 extra vans on hire.
If this goes ahead it will be disastrous. Over to you Mr Thompson.

You clearly have had difficulty reading my post.
A like for like basis on the agency staff in my office, assuming volumes all attempted delivery, and agency fees of £20 per hour.
So, lets assume your agency figure of £100 per 6 hour day. £17 per hour. Still over 20 grand per day assuming 3,000 items.

Let's halve that too, in line with IA. Still more than you'd pay your posties.

You can dress this up any way you want. These strikes, if they go ahead, will be extremely damaging for RMG.
The sooner Thompson realises, the better. (I'm sure i've said that before).

If you're going to buy more if/when the price drops, you should be championing us. Not posting abusive messages.
And why would this lead to you being frustrated. You should be jumping through hoops. Don't tell me you're concerned about the service we provide. Or indeed the fact that we may all lose our jobs, as many here have alluded to.

And if it was a threat to posties who are shareholders, wouldn't the same apply to other shareholders?
