If you read my earlier post about the agency staff in my office. 16 items, paid for 8 hours, agency rate about £20 per hour = £ 10 per item. I could be wrong with the agency price, but i won't be far out.
Let's use my figures then for tracked and specials in my office. Circa 3,000. I can get a more exact figure tomorrow if you wish.
So, on this basis that all items are attempted, that's £30,000!!!!
On a normal day we may have 45 staff, if we were ever fully staffed. That's about 6 grand. If you factor in paying double, sick, light duties etc, you're looking at 9 grand as an exaggerated figure.

I do however agree with your last paragraph. But in my opinion, it doesn't start with me starting later. The sooner Thompson listens, the better for all concerned.

I agree that these IA dates could be factored into the share price currently.
But if you think that for one minute that agency staff will carry RMG through these strikes, you are seriously mistaken.
And if you think that RMG will make money because of non-payment of strikers, they will pay out more to the agency.
Do you know how much RMG pay the agency per "worker"?

If that's your perspective from actually working for RMG as a postie, then all i can say is that your experience, IMO, is isolated.
If it's your perspective from a manger working for RMG, do something about it. It's your job.
If this your perspective as a shareholder, you really are as clueless as your posts would suggest.
You cling onto GLS and VESA, like many are doing.
You are aware that GLS was bought in the late nineties to get a foothold internationally?
Why would any CEO now sell it off, after it has been established?

Just a quick update on how things will progress when we are on strike, IMO.
RMG have supplied offices all over the country (but i can't say all of them) with agency staff.
We had 3 in our office. Thursday and Friday last week and 2 yesterday. These casuals are here to deliver parcels only, NOT letters or unmeasured items.
So on Thursday they all watched a 1 hour (ish) video and got paid for 4 hours each. At 20 quid an agency hour thats 240 quid.
Friday. All three were tasked with delivering 15, yes FIFTEEN ITEMS, each, in their respective 4 hour span. 14 were brought back to the office unscanned. Again, 240 quid. So 31 items delivered for at a rate of £7.75 per item.
Monday, only two turned up. I'm not sure why. Again 4 hours. 15 items between them and 1 bulk firm. So £160 for 16 drops @ £10 per delivery.
If this is indicative of what is happening in every office, then it will be a bloodbath.

Thank God for GLS paying for these agency workers.

The worst thing is that this IA, because of the pay rise (or lack of it) is only scratching the surface.
If these "new hours" are forced in through IA, total decimation.

I'm glad i'm not a shareholder.

I was making DerekR aware of the differences between now and then regarding getting out on delivery
FYI when i started i was doing a 43 hour week, 6 days a week. I'm now doing 37 hours a week, 5 days a week.
So, i'm actually working less.
Talk about stupid.

When you had to deliver the first letter by 7am, you were responsible for your own delivery. Not two like it is now.
The sorting was flooded with staff. Not now.
You had dedicated night staff who would do the bulk of the manual sorting. Not now.
You didn't have part time staff whose duties have to be prepped. You do now.
Staff used to go in early to finish early. Not many now because they can't finish early
And while the letters have dropped off and a high percentage is sequenced. the amount of staff to manually sort these items, you can count on one hand.
Then factor in the unknown. Sickness for example.
I think the delivery director assumed we went in prepped a bit, and we're out of the door.
I'm still waiting to hear if he has responded.

I'm not a lover of an RNS for the sake of it.
But would you agree that now would be a good time for a " we know no reason" RNS?
However strongly any investor believes in the company, this current decimation of the share price isn't good.
What if ACP had to raise via dilution?
12 months on from what most here would believe to be a game changing RNS, the mining license, and the best we have is a mining expert is being paid for.
At least an RNS could tell us what he is doing. What is actually happening on the ground. The last i heard is some holes were being drilled.
Surely some progress has been made in the past 12 months?
At this rate the next wave of warrants will expire, no funds coming into the company, and dilution will eventually take place to pay salaries.

I'm not active on workplace, but this reaches me:

A poster on workplace has suggested that with a 9am start, deliveries would not be leaving the office until 11-11.30am.

Francis Williams, delivery director, and one of the people who champion later start times asked this question, in response:

I nearly wet myself.
These are the people running this company, FFS.
If he doesn't actually know what happens in delivery, how can this person make a call on our start and finish times?
Another one, who's noose is tightening.

Apparently, he's also on the negotiating board for RMG. You know. The ones that do not negotiate and force things through by EA. Despite the pathway to change agreement.

Interesting info there. I wonder if this will filter through to all amazon staff?
Now any items that need to be delivered and cannot be fulfilled by amazon, generally end up in the RMG network. Crimbo, for example.
Maybe Evri can pick up the slack?

What do you think happens to the undeliverable items? Are red cards left?
Will they go back to the CSP? Or will they just miraculously turn up in the parcels for delivery the following day?
"IF" the courier is bound by our rules there will be thousands of items undelivered. And they will "NOT" have our red cards to leave. So do the undelivered items stay with this courier until delivery is completed?
More questions than answers.
But IMO, GLS will be paying over the top for the other courier to handle these items.

Forgive me for the vagueness. There are many here who appear to know everything about how RMG work in these scenarios. And my post could have been worded much better.
For clarity:
Agency staff start at 1pm. 4 hours per day. Finish at 5pm. They are given 60 parcels to deliver but cannot do them in their allotted time. They say to management, do you want us to attempt all parcels? Management says yes, but we will pay according to your last scan. Agency staff last scan is 7pm. So they are paid 6 hours. 2 hours of excess (or pressure) overtime.

RMG staff who have 100 parcels plus 600 delivery points to deliver to, sort and prep all mail and parcels, say that they cannot complete their duty in their time. Management say, leave what you cannot deliver we can't pay you excess (or pressure) overtime.

Times and figures are fictional of course.

We're not on strike. Unless you know something that i don't. GLS are paying the other courier to deliver now!
A very strange thing to do, as notice has to be given for strike action. And it hasn't!
As i said, eating into their profits.

We were meant to have 5 yesterday. None turned up. I'm not sure why.
3 turned up today, between 40 minutes and 1 hour late.

The odd thing is that if they need to "go over" that time, RMG will pay them excess. Yet they won't pay their own staff.
I'd love to know who makes these decisions.

Rumour has it that Evri is the courier that GLS is off-loading the parcels to.
Regardless of the courier, I wonder what will happen to any undelivered items? Will they just end up back in the RMG/PFW network?
Or are you now going to have items simply doorstepped or left at the bottom of blocks of flats?
I'd also like to know how much GLS are paying these other couriers. Eating into those profits already. It doesn't make sense to me.

In fact, that applies to everyone here.
And i'm not sure if you're aware, but i'm still doing the same job as i was before you were invested here.
My terms of employment haven't changed.

So, as a big fan of money making GLS (does that suit), do you think that they should be offloading parcels to another courier?
To the total detriment of the company that you have invested in. Yes or no would suffice.

Do you think that the un-named courier could be RMG?
So, another underhand and sneaky play on words?
A bit like the £1M loss per day.

I wonder how long this has been going on, and how much of hit RMG/GLS are taking.

Surely, they will be losing money, hand over fist if this goes on?
