I get what you say about the people costs. But i'm assuming that the figure would be based on pay, not after deductions. I may be wrong.
I would also assume that this would include agency staff. As i have mentioned before, we have 2 agency staff now employed by Royal Mail, and they were on £17.55 an hour with their agency. Add on agency costs to that. So, the average wage disparity between Royal Mail and GLS would probably be wider. Again, i don't know how many, if any, agency staff are used by GLS.

I'm not disputing the actual figure of £219m, more the comparison between the initial £92m and the new £219m, and how they stack up against each other. Like i posted earlier, that figure is nearer £150m, without IA. Regardless of Saturday's or Sundays the figures stand, as reported.

I've just looked at the RNS (i was being lazy) and it was 3 days @ £70m.
So, without IA, a loss of £150m. £820,000 per day
That's quite a noticeable reduction from Q1, considering we are in the quietest period of the year.

Royal Mail said that IA would cost £25m per day. I was merely trying to ascertain what the H1 figures would have been without IA.
Q1 - £92m = £1m per day
H1 - £94m (without 5 days of IA) = £513,000 per day.
Or was the £219m figure not inclusive of the losses to IA? So, in fact £334m losses.

This is quite interesting.
Royal Mail people costs: £5,600,000,000 / 140,000 employees = £40,000 on average per employee
GLS people costs: £900,000,000 / 19,000 employees = £47,000 on average per employee

Does this £219m include the 5 days of IA? Without 5 days of IA, this figure would reduce by £125m, to £94m.

Royal Mail must pay me very well if i can sustain all these losses. I can detail all my losses if you want. In your extensive research, have i actually made any money in my investments? How about AEA? How much did that investment cost me?
How much have i made or lost in Royal Mail? Not including the freebies.

A plan is in place to save a quarter of a billion pounds a year on wages alone. That's not good news.
And that's what i mean about being disappointed about the share price.

That might apply to some companies, but it thought this was common news. Factored in to the price. Of course Royal Mail will make a loss. The strikes. The downturn in traffic. The ridiculous people costs. I could go on and on. These are your words and the words of your fellow investors. I would've thought that the decimation of outdoor/indoor staff would have been taken favourably.

If i was a holder, and i'm not, i would be a tad disappointed in the closing price today.
Thompson (The Terrible) has just announced a massive cost saving exercise, so i thought the price would've finished in the green.
Surely the forward thinking here has to be "we are getting rid of 10,000 lazy militant posties, employing more managers to manage less staff, and restructuring "my" business the way i want it."
The market doesn't agree though. How odd!

What i find interesting is that there have been a few buyers on here today, but we never get given an actual quantity. One renowned poster thinks it "may" revisit the all-time lows, which was 119p for a moment. But then buys in today. How odd. I would wait.
