While i quite agree with the sentiment of this, it clearly isn't right.
For example: If my office pays out 100 hours of overtime to the regulars every day, and they continue to do so every day, post IA, how is that undermining anything?

Is your office in a complete mess, prior to IA?
If it was, there will be no redundancies. If it wasn't, then some will be relocated, so that you fail deliveries, or parts of. Your office will then fall into line with the majority of the country. Parcels take priority, and duties will be collapsed to save on head count. In my opinion, only.

I've been changing with Royal Mail for over 30 years. Some good, some bad.
This is the first time that it will impact my life outside of Royal Mail. But if you take the time to read to the end, my sentiments are clear.

We have had 3 new starters in the past 6 weeks or so.
I speak to them, to see how they feel about the actual job. Of course, they are oblivious to anything prior to them joining. So, while it's taxing, it's what they see. And of course, what they become used to.
One of them has already been told his times will change over the Xmas period. I assume that's in his contract. I also assume the other two will be the same.
Would i join now? No.
I like the early starts and finish. Despite giving back nearly two hours from when i started.
Job and finish? Been there, done it. Rush around like a lunatic to finish early. A more productive way of working, IMO.
Ghosting hours, the same.
The big thing for me, is finishing times. If my times are pushed back, i doubt very much i'll be there.

If there is a GE and Labour win, i don't think the renationalization of IDS will be the first thing they do.
However, if they do take it back, why would they sell off GLS?
It's a cash cow apparently. They could use it to fund my exorbitant annual pay increases. And anything not covered by GLS, will be funded by the taxpayer.
Why else did RMG buy GLS?
And the shareholders? You'll all get a token payment for your shares.

Letter to DW from ST.

The relevant part says:
" To be clear we need an urgent agreement to bring this damaging dispute to an end. As you are aware, we have now announce a 10,000 FTE rightsizing programme, that we estimate will result in 5-6,000 people leaving Royal Mail due to redundancy.
If more strike action goes ahead, we will lose more parcel volume, become an even smaller business and that will mean more substantial rightsizing will be required."

So, in my book he's thrown his hat into the ring and cannot backtrack.
Unlike he did with the very recent manager redundancies, and subsequent recruitment programme.

I think it was Anger that posted recently about customer dissatisfaction. Mentioning hospital appointments, medication etc, not received. The word "parcels" says it all. While us posties are extremely concerned about all things, Thompson clearly isn't.

I also understand that there will be no Xmas bonus. No uplifting of staff from P/T to F/T. No pressure overtime. And i'm not sure, but no early sorting overtime during Xmas pressure. If we continue to strike.

Our Si, has acknowledged the letter from the CWU and has said his "team" are ready for talks facilitated by ACAS from tomorrow.
His " negotiating team" is headed up by Ricky McCaulay alongside his functional experts.
I hope this doesn't include that twit that thought it took 30 minutes to get out of the door, after your start time.

The thing about this is that "rightsizing" which is the new in word has to go ahead. So, despite anything that may happen or be agreed tomorrow, or going forward, 10,000 jobs have to go.

I totally agree.
This is in my office. If you have 40 staff on strike out of 43, that equates to about 300 hours. One day.
If you have 20 people working their days off, to recoup that money, out of the normal o/t staff, that's 140 hours.
Fictional figures, but you can see where i'm going.
Plus, we have 6 agency staff, at a guess.
I'm not sure how your office is doing, but mine is a mess. And many in my local area too.
I have seen one manager in tears. I had to console him. It's not nice. And i've heard of other managers who feel this bad.
Thompson doesn't get to see all of this.
Us posties can come in, work our time in a relaxed manner and go home. It's not nice seeing the mess, but it's been created by Si.
