Go to OFCOMs recent statement about the USO.
The overview simply states that "This document sets out OFCOMS decisions on the regulation of postal services from 2022 to 2027.
Please note "OFCOMS decisions".
I would assume that if OFCOM had decided that the USO needed changing, then they would have to approach the government.

If you've only worked for RM for 17 years you will not remember the golden years. JOB AND FINISH!
This was taken away, in agreement with the CWU in about 2004. I cannot quite recall the year. We went from 2 deliveries and ASAP to single daily deliveries.
This was when management were meant to be making staff work to their time. Fully supported by the CWU.
So, please don't blame the CWU for management incompetence.
If management actually managed, maybe the company would not be in the position it apparently is today.

It's an example. I know of 6 units being under one roof. Some of the travelling to and from can be double that. RM would sooner have good will regarding VR, thus providing opportunity for wholesale culling. You better tell your postie friends that their petrol bill may be going up!

Another elephant in the room regarding Monday - Friday. I have no doubt whatsoever that if this was put to the members to vote on, it would be accepted. Obviously, with start and finish times factored in.
The levels of vacancies in my area that i know of, are horrendous. RM have laid out their cards on this and won't be employing.
And oddly enough, i agree with the 7-day parcel service. Volunteer only though.
The CWU membership wouldn't actually take much of a hit. There are 10% vacancies in most of the offices i know about.
Some problems here though.
1 - Start and finish times
2 - Overtime payments
3 - Larger deliveries - more failures
4 - Bias - If OA's are to be used for discipliary reasons
5 - Bias - If SISO is used for start and finish times

When you have actual figures about compulsory redundancies, then tell me i'm wrong. Stop quoting Simon. He probably won't have a job by the end of next week.
I asked what the actual VR package is, that you mentioned? Enlighten me, please.
And of course, you realise that VR can be sought nationally. And that RM can re-locate staff.
To make this easy for you. If 25 posties accepted VR in an office 6 miles away from you, they could re-locate your posties to this office, to make up the numbers.
If you think there will be a major shortfall in taking up VR, i think you'll be wrong. Just my opinion.

Fact finding, i think it's called.
Everything that you posted @ 19.55 is old news. Apart from the soon to be enforced revisions.
I'm not sure if the majority here realise that.
If you can tell me, as a COM, whether or not these revisions will work in your unit, i'll tell you that your duties are short.
Interestingly, the P40 checks should make up a large chunk of the indoor hours that you are meant to save. What happens when your staff don't make the generous standards agreed by RM and the CWU?

One thing regarding outdoor visuals. A few years back a serial moaner was found asleep in his van. It never happened again, and his work rate went up too. I agree with your thought process regarding the idle, but you get them in all businesses. It's the managers that have to deal with them. And if they don't? Should they be sacked?

I think these are called P40 checks, and a workplace coach should be doing these on a regular basis. These have been in place for all the time i've been employed. Old news again.

And the £750M is group profit. Surely the group profit will be impacted by the losses incurred by RM. So, group profit will be down. But last year's profit was still used to pay dividends and share buyback, despite the knowledge of the covid kit contract loss.

I think today it was released that RM will look for volunteers for VR. Not in line with the MTSF agreement. The CWU are opposed to this, but i think that management will try to get leavers "on the cheap". After this it will be natural wastage, sickness, ill health retirement.
So, in essence, none. IMO.

They have already moved on their Sunday working stance. Volunteers or if not recruitment, but on lesser terms.
Start and finish times are massive here. It wasn't so long ago that RM were peddling the stay-at-home Mums and Dads.
Regarding pay: It wouldn't have been too much of an issue in my office, but executive action is. Factor in the dividends paid for by last year's group profits, and the knowledge that the lucrative covid kits contract was coming to an end, and it seems slightly foolish to give that money away.
And let's not forget the managers pay rises. While their current agreement is much the same as the posties, i did post that line manager salaries would increase from 38K in April 2022 to 49K in April 2024. In line with their apparent elevated status to COM. This does not include annual pay rises.
Let's not forget the bonuses for full work attendance up to 31st October. This was paid but the managers without full attendance will get this bonus at the end of November. They are now calling it a performance bonus. Getting paid in advance for targets that will never be met.

You suggest that the CWU should just roll over and accept anything that "Simon Says." Maybe if he had started with the white-collar workers and worked his way down, his pay rise may have been accepted. So that would leave t's and c's.
