If a company with a 95% gross profit margin can't give some money away, there's something wrong.

Ever since I read Yvon Chouinard's 'Let My People Go Surfing: The Education of a Reluctant Businessman' a few years ago, our business has made charitable donations of 1% of turnover each year.

IMO, more businesses should do it. Just treat it like another overhead. Once the habit is formed, you feel guilty for not doing committing it sooner.

The 'details' were released by Boris's office and, as we know, they are capable of getting their numbers a bit muddled.

For now, I continue to buy because the general direction of the company appears positive. One way or another, the company's revenue is increasing. I appreciate that revenue from currently held contracts will eventually dry up and that they will need new bigger contracts to replace them to maintain momentum but they do seem to have a chance of doing that.

As far as the UK-India Trade Deal is concerned, I don't know how the £18M/30 UK jobs is worked out but I do like the fact that Cyan is one of the twenty companies in the whole of the UK to get a mention in the PM's announcement.

The company seems to be employing new staff in India and the UK, which strongly suggests that's there more work to be done.

I feel that something substantial will be announced that changes the way that Cyan is perceived by the market and I want to be around when it does. It might be quite a ride.

I don't buy shares in individual companies too often - Cyan is a throwback to a time when I did.

For now, I'm liking my VCTs - the 30% safety net and enforced discipline (i.e. putting your money down and forgetting about the investment for 5 years).

I initially bought into Cyan quite a few years ago, thinking that it would be a good takeover bet. That's why I've pretty much given up stockpicking. I still think that's where we'll end up but I've given up guessing when.

It's funny how Cyan never gets covered in any of these mags, as far as I know.

Cash finally cleared, so able to add a few more earlier. Will continue to buy at this price, as spare spondoolies materialise.

I see that there's 1/30th of the newly created jobs (Senior Systems Engineer) advertised on Cyan's website.

If Hardman & Co's get their 38p, Cyan's SP will be back to where it was 4 years ago.

Hardman & Co also say:

"It is important to note that the company will need to keep delivering contract wins to maintain momentum, especially if a significant proportion of the c.514,000 modules yet to be shipped from existing contracts is delivered in calendar 1H’21.

It was this bit that sounded encouraging to me but obviously needs to come to fruition sooner rather than later:-

"However, for reasons already discussed, management confidence on this front is high, reflecting continued strong progress in India more generally and the growing strength of the relationship between CyanConnode and EESL."

I'm optimistic too, that's why I keep investing .

However, at some point the picture of where new significant business is coming from will need to become clearer. Until then, the SP will yo-yo (IMO), regardless of what is written about Cyan.

At some point, you would expect a normal business to be in a position to announce orders on a regular basis i.e. they are not negotiating one potential order at a time.

IMO, if there are going to be huge gaps between successful orders, the orders will need to be huge too.

Time will tell but I'm not sure that the scattergun approach (working with multiple bidders) is working/has worked yet. Hoping to be proved wrong with the mother of all orders at some point.

I've had a look at a few of the other companies on Boris's list and I can't find one that confirms the claims in the government's statement re new orders/jobs. Happy to be proved wrong.

I do think that news re order(s) will be come eventually.
