First green day in a while..

The care home issue has happened in lots of places..including UK and lots of European countries. I don't think it's fully the governments fault, though clearly they should have learnt the lesson by now about sending people back to care homes, however it's ultimately the likelihood is that carers who are asymptomatic were also bringing it into care homes and as the average age of death of covid is somewhere in the low 80s (it's around the same as life expectancy itself) it obviously means that places full of old people are going to suffer the hardest. You'd have to test all care workers prob once or twice every day to stop this happening. Maybe that might start to happen.

I know, check the forum from a month ago, everyone was optimisitc when it was in the 90s and the target for reopening was 150. Now it's cheap and everyone afraid. That's the stock market for you

It's increased a number of times from these lows before...and at those times there were people saying it would drop a lot further from what turned out to be the bottom for that period. Not saying your wrong but ultimately it's pretty much a guess.

We can never know the bottom...as a long-term buy and hold investor I'm happy to have got in now at 57.8p with 4k. My average still isn't amazing after some smaller buys at £1 and 90p, maybe I'm too optimistic...

I sold some from a fund today before it's 10am valuation point, it's now at *submitted for dealing*. Anyone know how long it would normally take for the cash to appear in the fund and share account? Cheers

Sorry investroid but it's a very manipulative to say "more deaths than any other country" without pointing out the population of the USA. This also fails to point out that the median new age of cases in Florida is 35. I honestly don't think investors are that worried by covid...but are worried that other investors are worried.

Surely if it's 50 percent down then it makes sense to ramp because it's cheap? If you only invest when it all looks good then it won't be cheap (unless you have insider knowledge).

I'm torn as to what I want it to do...I'm in with about 9k from different price points from £1 down to 64p however I'm getting 4-5k this Fri so part of me would like it stay low until then.

The median age of new cases in Florida is 35, so I wouldn't bet on the death rates rising much...also I think deaths as a result of the new cases is priced in, if deaths don't materalize this mostly wouldn't be priced in.

The cases have been rising for 12/13 so deaths would have to rise soon for the pessmistic view to be true however if Jayquethedogs stat is correct only 1 percent of the new cases are at serious or critical state.

The places all previously complimented for lower cases/deaths - germany/china/south korea/Califorina now all facing outbreaks. The countries previously attacked for major hits UK/France/Spain/New York all maintaining low deaths/cases.

US deaths are still falling despite the fact that cases started rising around the 15/16th June. Unless deaths pick up soon I think the dow will surge because people will lose all fear and see through the headlines.
This is what happened in Sweden recently, cases started picking up again at the beginning of June till the 24th June. Deaths remained flat however. Cases have now had a steep fall there the last few days.

It's a great gain but ultimately it's not that hard to make a 50 percent gain however you had 121k to play with. How did you get that much to start with? (genuinely curious)

To be fair to investroid - with covid happening it may have been hard to maintain access to his bipolar medication.

Most places in the world are easing restrictions despite increased cases - this isn't just a US phenomonen. This is down to both better treatment for the most sick, and I believe also a lot of countries are actually now going for herd immunity with local targetting to stop hospital overwhelm, but aren't going to admit this officially.

But when those 3 points have happened or people sense they are about to happen the price will have gone up? Unless your actually a day trader seems ideal to buy in right now, it's crazily cheap. Aslong as you can hold it for 3-6 months you will make a gain on whatever you put in but if you delay you could miss out and the rises happen very fast. People may reassess over the weekend and get less fearful as they can look at West Europe and Eastern US and see that that will be them shortly and will want to get back in before others do. The fact that death rates are falling will also eventually dampen the fear more and more.

Doesn't sound like Mike Pence is envisaging or encouraging any further lockdowns...and again they are noting how many of the new cases are younger people getting tested more. Even Neil Ferguson the "500,000 will die without lockdown" guy now says there won't need to be another lockdown just targetted local lockdows.
