I think they will kev. Been a long time coming but with what seems to be recent changes in the governments sentiment ( possibly Ukraine/Russia and middle east issues affecting) I think they will want to strike it as fast as they can. With the new refinery coming online 2026 I suspect the government will want as many wells as possible online in the next 12-18 month.

I thought it a bit odd why they went for another wildcat though, when they could have just drilled another heron.

if you have two wells 800m apart which are tapped into the same system, surely all you need to do is fill the gap between them with as many wells as possible in a straight line

I know the drills are quite cheap kev. If they only wish to drill 2 or 3 in the next year then yes they could easily self fund it. But I was suggesting they would wanna drill 10+, so funding may be required. Though if the production is proven, they may easily achieve it via loans against the asset rather than further dilution.

It depends on how fast they wish to move. If they take their time, in theory it will be self sufficient. However I suspect they will want to go all guns blazing and get as many wells online asap so they may raise for that.

Or maybe the government decides to invest / loan, they do seem to have suddenly sped up and removed all obstacles recently . They will be wanting oil flowing for their own refinery they are building, which is expected to be completed in 2026
