RE: Tm14 Feb 2023 20:12
the 1st year I did a lot of shorter term trades and did well. In naivety I did not use an ISA frankly was not expecting to need to pay tax. Then found that rule of if you do over 40k worth of trading ( which is easy to do over a year ) even if you make zero profit you should do a tax return.
2nd year I opened ISA with my bank which I intend to use just for long term dividend payers. Found myself getting drawn into more and more long term trades in my trading account - and without realising at the time - too many USA tech companies.
3rd year set up my trading ISA but screwed it trying to stuff things in, no spare funds - and the US tech side crashed so really poor year. With hindsight I should have done this ISA year two.
Been reassessing things and trying to reduce my long termers and do a lot more short term trades - I did really with that previously. Things have only really started going my way last couple of month thank to BOIL, PREM, KOD, TESLA and this week COPL, which I have managed to time nicely
