I'm feeling a big contract of defense, they do make engine for warships. I was wondering why the price hadn't gone up with everyone spending a fortune on defense, which RR will play a big part in.

Would they actually let Elon Musk buy RR? I'm not against it, because SP will go crazy, just wondering if he's trusted enough by the UK government.

I agree with snake, problem is at the moment, with inflation looming, and people squeezed big time with high gas prices etc, they will assume, rightly or wrongly, that people won't be flying. Once restrictions are filly lifted, people will be desperate to get away, and those that can afford to, will.
I am planning on going away next winter for sure, even if it costs more than usual.

I'd argue that there was definitely a high risk, as for the the title of punt, it's all a case of personal opinion, rather than being a punt, or not a punt, it's more like a scale from boring, fear fuel "guaranteed returns" from government bonds etc, and full on, white knuckle staring into the abyss investing. I'd put evraz, and poly towards the white knuckle end, but if they survive, returns are almost guaranteed.

Agreed deepdive, we need good reasoned debate, the whole point isn't to be the winner of the argument, and certainly not to make personal remarks. The goal should be to consider all things, and come to a conclusion, as it stands with these shares evraz and poly, I have decided that the upside is worth it IMO. If I lose the money, then I'll just have to save up again, but if they recover, I will be in a very good position financially.

People can do what they want, but as others have said, an echo chamber is not only unhelpful, but can be detrimental to your portfolio. I'm still learning, and I do not want to fall into the trap of the hype train. I've seen it on one of the Facebook groups I am in. Some guy says, "this stock is the one, it's gonna fly", I asked what his reasoning was, yet he had absolutely no reasoning, no answer at all. This is why I prefer to stick to stocks that at least have current profits, then you've at least got a PE to go on. I want to hear all views, especially constructive negative information. Not just, "this stock id going down", but ones where they point out fundamental flaws.

Lodan, I did laugh at that, but I am concerned that I am doing exactly that, just lurking on these threads looking for something to keep me going. Hope this share turns around.

When they say "links to RA", what do they mean exactly? Is it now illegal to have friends, that are sanctioned?

Come on everyone, let's be nice. Though I'd chime in, with this from "what I learned fe loosing million Dollars", are you looking to make a profit, or be a prophet. As the only gambling phrase goes, never a mistake to make a profit. doesn't matter when you got in, as long as you made a gain. Always good to remember why you're doing this, doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

The thing that bothers me, isn't so much that they are against RA, and his so called status of "oligarch", what bothers me, is that the government, and the west have been basically rolling out the red carpet for them up until now.
It has nothing to do with corruption or anything else. They just want the corruption into be "the good kind of corruption", that benefits the west.
I think penguin has hit nail on the head, they want VP to be unpopular with some of the most powerful people in Russia. I'd imagine if VP can't be convinced through talk, they'll find another method. If you know what I mean.

I find it very frustrating, how hard it seems to find the truth in the world. I just hope that one day the world will know peace, but I fear that fay will never come.

I'll be intending to hold all my shares for the long run, since I still have plenty of time till retirement.

I think one of the good thing to remember, is that the value of this company is in physical assets, and not like many other tech companies, where they need a good share price, in order to get financing. Evraz can get finance purely based off their assets, and cash flow.
I am glad I read this, because I am starting to feel a bit better about these shares. If I can get the dividend, even if I have to transfer it out if my ISA, and pay tax, I'll still be a happy bunny.

Thanks rocket and Loco, I was considering subscribing to the FT, I actually quite like their political analysis too. Will definitely have to read those books you recommend loco. Contrarian is the way I am going, just because I see it as a main way to profit, because IMO, even if a share is great, if everyone thinks that, then the price won't be great.
