Whilst I'm not willing to take either side, because I don't think we can get reliable information. I would argue that the whole argument about crimea and donbas being part if Ukraine, or not, is to some degree not totally a correct angle to go on. Northern Ireland some would say us part of Ireland, but the United Kingdom, and the citizens of northern Ireland, decided they wanted it to be part of the United Kingdom. I think this should be the case with the donbas, and Crimea. The people of those areas should get a good friday style agreement, whereby the people of those areas decide, and both Ukraine, and Russia respect the vote.

Probably just trying to sell you something, like their managed fund or something.

In regards to bitcoin, they've hit a problem, that I have always foreseen. They meen miners to verify transactions, mining uses electricity. If electricity is too expensive compared to the price of a coin, they stop mining, if they stop mining, no one can sell their coins. Then it collapses. This might be the end of bitcoin. (Don't quote me on that, because it has been around for some time.).

I'm not sure, but I see it as a positive, they're still trying to comply with the UK government. Hopefully get cleared of sanctions at a later date.

Lodan, I agree so much, I think that kind of attitude has no place in the stock market. Ultimately, we're all just playing a guessing game. I wish that everyone could make good money on all their investments, and if I am bearish on something, and I turn out to be right, I am not gonna stand there and do the "I told you so" thing, because I take no joy in seeing people lose money. I've been heavily critical of cryptocurrency, but I do so from a position of concern, for people putting vast quantities of their earned money, in what I see as a scam. I may be proved wrong, and I really hope I am proved wrong, because TBH, there's nothing that hurts me more, than seeing people get scammed of their hard earned money.

my comments in regards to ideology, and saving face was not intended to judge, just saying that people won't back down. I agree with you though, I hate bullies too, just the other day I had a stand off between me, and another work colleague. They threatened to "knock me out", but I stood firm, I had no idea whatsoever if I could win, but I would stand regardless. Putin needs to step down, but he won't, his ego is too big.

I agree, basically both sides are at an ideological stalemate. Each side will lose face if they back down. All we can do is wait. I would say Putin popping his clogs might change things, but from what I hear, the alternative political scene in Russia is also very keen on war. So it really would be (excuse the pun), like playing russian roulette. VP death could go either way. If the rest of the world were to get on board it might change things, but I doubt they will side with the west, who they also view as a potential threat.

Cheers Marko, it does look quite nice when I've drove through, just not lived there. There are some nice spots for countryside around there. I'm only going by what I've heard, and that can often be based on many misconceptions. Cost of living would definitely be good there, and I think getting work wouldn't be too hard, especially with Leeds nearby.

100% agree with that Jotom, I wouldn't say that the town I lived in was that bad really, in fact, people go there on holiday,so it can't be that bad. It's all about perspective. Like a Jamaican guy once said to me, when I asked about Jamaica, and if it was a nice place etc. He replied, "my Jamaica, is not your Jamaica, go for yourself, and you'll find your Jamaica. You might see something in the place, that I didn't. Same is true for my home town, it's not that it's a bad place, but I just associate it with having no money, and being surrounded by wealthy people, being considered irrelevant, by the local MP, because the town is mostly populated by wealthy individuals, that do not concern themselves with the problems of the poor. The social deprivation, not having enough money to partake in social activities. If you had the money yo live there, and you could afford to live in the nice part, it would be a great place to live. For me however, I will never forget how that place made me feel, and therefore, it will never be my home again. I quite like where I am now, near the peak District, within a few hours of almost all major airports. If I were to move again, it would probably be abroad.

I haven't got homesick, though I lived in the south east, and it's not as nice as Cornwall IMO. I wouldn't recommend Bradford, admittedly I've not lived there myself, but I don't hear much good about the place. Got to be a bit wary with areas etc, especially in the big cities. Trouble with Cornwall is it's high cost, and low wages. South east has the potential for the London mega money, not that I saw any of it mind. I was just so determined, and fed up, with life in general, that I didn't even care if it was aweful, I'd have lived anywhere. Though TBH, looking back, I actually lived in a diabolically aweful place before. I went back, and the area I lived in was terrible, scagg heads everywhere. I must have just been used to it.

Good luck whatever you do, as I always say, life is a marathon, not a sprint, and just like with boxing, you've got to keep moving forward.

I recommend moving if you can, I moved from south coast, which was exactly as you describe, and moved to the Midlands. Best thing I ever did, went from living in a bedsit, bought a 2 bed terrace house. rented spare room to mate. Then managed to get lorry license. Just recently moved into a new build 3 bed detached with drive and garage in a somewhat posh area, with other half. This all happened within the space of 5 years. I have about 12K from a share scheme at work for the initial deposit. Honestly, the south is overrated, move somewhere cheap, get set up.

9P! There was me feeling bad about my 4.5p purchase. Oh well, hold for the long run, hopefully will be worth a lor more than 9p in 10 years time.

I personally don't try to guess shares price's. there are many successful people, that do just that, but I prefer a Warren Buffet style approach, maybe with a touch more risk for added spice. WB says don't try to predict short term price movements, just basically ask 2 questions, is it a good business? Is it a good price? Of course you've got other stuff to consider like political, trends, etc. Though a good business should theoretically be able to overcome these obstacles, as we are seeing these businesses navigate sanctions etc.
I normally like to have a look at the finances, revenue, profit etc, with growing revenues/profit. During the lockdown, ai was having a look at various shares. One was Intu, that run various shopping centers etc. I decided not to buy based on, declining revenues, and declining values of retail properties. Glad I did that leg work, because shortly after they went bust!

The war will end next couple if months I think (don't quote me). It's costing Russia too much, Sure they could theoretically send more troops, and weapons, but that would mean weakening their military in other areas. They/he didn't think Ukraine would out up such a big fight. They thought they could just take out zelensky, and install some corrupt official in his place. That hasn't happened, and now they're having to fight a real war, that they cannot fight.

I am still struggling to work out exactly what is going on in the world. What concerns me, isn't that I am not sure, but how many people seem to be 100% sure, and it just so happens that by chance, their countries story is the only legitimate one. I've become more interested in history as I've got older. I love nothing more than to wonder around Various places, taking in all the history. One thing that I always think about if I go to a city, on the "free walking tour", is the amount of work that has gone into the world. These historic buildings that took hours, upon hours of hard graft to build. Sometimes for free! There is a church in Barcelona (not the segrada familia), part way through, the merchant's ran out of money, but the workers kept building it for free, because they believed that they would be spared from the plague if they finished it. It's amazing the things people can achieve, when they believe.

Don't mention Rolls Royce! I'm holding them too!!.. Though it's also owned by the government, so it will be the classic case of do as I say, not as I do.

Not only that, but the LSE might be deemed in breach of the law by facilitating the sale of shares. This makes total sense. RA sanctioned, suspended trading, so that no one is in breach of rules.

I'd be happy for them to use dividend cash for legal council, as long as this company survives this crisis, I'll be quids in.

Hang on, I just remembered, I read about the sanctions, and they can still pay debt and staff I believe.
