Ralph, I admit I am not 100% on sanctions rules etc, but I'd imagine they can pay off all their debt with the western banks etc, and the russian debt can be paid in ruble's from the russian mines. Maybe they have debt on the russian mines, with western banks, and will struggle to pay them with sanctions, so this will solve that problem.

Don't ever wish for this. No one comes out well in tis scenario.

If they can pay off all their debt, it will be good, then they can just do "sanctioned and chill", wait it out.

Confirmed om there, that the only benefit to paper shares is you can theoretically sell them. Though I'd imagine any sale would be at a massive discount. I also says you will have the same rights as any other shareholder. Happy ti keep them in my ISA, not selling at a discount, would happily hold them forever if I got the dividend.

No, because they will pay your broker, who will then in turn, pay you.

It does seem to be all doom and gloom, but I still think there is a lot of incentive to end the war. The longer this goes on, the more likely the world will be dragged into WW3. Nobody wants that to happen. Like with any negotiation, you don't just give up at the first hurdle, you have to drive a hard bargain. You never accept the first offer, because they will think they could have got a better deal. Both sides will look to wrestle as much as possible, to create a sense that they came off well, both sides are looking to claim a victory. Only time will tell, but I sense a deal will be on the table eventually, they just need to make it feel like a victory.

Habe to be honest, this sale of the north American assets does make me a little uneasy. Like they're trying to get rid of it, and then poof, disappear to russia. Though it might be a case of its the only thing worth selling. The russian assets will go cheap, whereas the NA assets can be sold for a decent price. Then potentially pay their debts with the proceeds, and the company can still survive, till when/if the sanctions are removed.

This is why I'm not going paper, I don't really understand the implications of the sanctions, so I don't want to get in a situation where the government are accusing me 9f breaking the sanction rules. I'll leave it in ISA, and then I can still pull the "stupid retail investor" card, rather than going paper, trying to sell my shares to SexyVlad153 on the dark web, and get busted by MI6.

If they don't trade on that exchange, they'll have to sort it via another company. Might cost you a bit in charges, but it can be sorted. Only benefit I see is if you're not a UK citizen, in which case you might be able to move the shares somewhere else. Otherwise you'll still be subject to UK law, and in which case, may as well keep them with a UK broker.

in regards to your brexit comments, I don't think you were alone there. I was fed up of hearing about it, dragged on for years. I think if it weren't for brexit, BOJO wouldn't have one. He was just the only person mad enough to force it through, and the public wanted it over with, one way, or another.

Thing is the while dividend tax dodge thing is somewhat misleading. yes you pay less tax on the dividend, but the company pays corporation tax, once you add the corp tax, and the divi tax, it's not much of a tax dodge.

I don't see why they wouldn't grant the license, it's a legitimate payment to a lender.

From what I understand, there's not much difference. If you have paper, you will fill in forms and apply, if with broker, they might take it out of your ISA, but otherwise they should be able to work something out. might cost you a bit in charges, but they must be abel to do it.

They didn't mention dividends, but as they are nominee, they will receive the dividend, and should disperse as usual. Main issue here is the sale and transfer of title, which can be done now very quickly, but in the future, will take longer, and may incur stamp duty. There is also a new corporate action on my account, you may have it too.

I hope so, starting to lose the faith, POG gone, Evraz sanctioned, and no longer has a broker to maintain the registry, begging government for permission to pay it's bills . seriously considering bolting on this one, but I'm gonna stick it out, I just hope I am right to do so.
