https://www.msn.com/en-gb/money/other/shares-in-russia-s-alrosa-drop-as-u-s-expands-sanctions-on-company/ar-AAVZngp?ocid=m Good luck to all GEMD holders maybe our day in the sun is finally coming, after all these years!
Mr Bond I think you are correct https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/biden-to-ban-us-imports-of-russian-vodka-diamonds-and-seafood/ar-AAUWpTu?ocid=ux .Good luck to all us LTH we certainly deserve it.
At last us long suffering LTH's may have a chance to at least get our money back! Diamonds are back in favour , we have the best mine in the world, and no debt!https://republicofmining.com/2021/02/09/diamond-prices-regain-their-sparkle-by-will-horner-wall-street-journal Surely this time we can reach a decent share price and even get a dividend. GLA
Let's hope the optimism for the diamond market combined with good results tomorrow will finally start pushing this share up where it should be. I like many LTH in here have been underwater for years, despite much averaging down. As many have said what we need is some mention of dividends and not profits that seem to somehow vanish! GLA
I agree, we will get over this eventually, and if we are lucky maybe sooner than some might think. I don't think the world will look like some post apocalypse setting after all this, it will look exactly the same including Card Factory shops!
I was in my local Card Factory today and is was quite busy with people buying Mothers Day cards etc. Unless there is a complete lockdown I think they would still tick over at a lower level. They could also benefit from all the Government help packages to keep businesses going. GLA. Stay well!
I disagree this is finished, obviously in these current times all High St stores/shares are taking a kicking but this seems very undervalued now. If they can get through this with some restructuring etc. this could really go up.GLA
After all the hype we are nearly back to where we started with the SP. Unfortunately us LTH have seen it all before year after year.It needs real substantial news to have any lasting increase. But given what is going on in the world/market we are lucky to be at even this level in my opinion. I want this to shoot up as much, or more than anyone[massive losses at this price] but just being realistic. Sorry guys, get back to ramping! GLA
Given the circumstances I would say that was quite a positive update.[Proves you can still sell diamonds even in these dire times albeit at a discount] If they can just sell enough to cover running costs and stockpile for better times this could really fly once all this crisis eases. Getting seriously cheap now when you think of the quality of the asset. Stay well all .Good luck
Givingthelowdown I admire your optimism but I think the way the market is now any number of great finds will not have any impact. [current sp 31p and falling!!] However I refuse to sell at this price/massive loss. The company is in a lot better shape than many to ride out the storm, and those big diamonds are worth a lot even at depressed prices. I suspect they will just sell enough to tick over while stockpiling for better times. These are crazy times, this price like for most shares now does not reflect the true value of the company. I for one will hold and pray!! GLA
I agree there always seems little left given the large revenues they generate. But I suppose costs are high as they have to process many tonnes to find just a few diamonds and they have to pay the Lesotho Government quite a lot to enable them to operate there. Where this company went really wrong was when they bought the Ghaghoo mine in Botswana and wasted hundreds of millions developing it only to end up closing it and selling it for peanuts! Although they are still financially strong compared to others like PDL they would have been in a far better position if not for that. At the last AGM there was quite a large vote against many of the proposals with them only just passing. So the Board should be more wary that the shareholders are not happy with the lack of dividends etc. so any so called 'milking' would be scrutinised. Lets hope we can get back to where this should be over £1. GLA
Hi pickedpeck, I suspect the update will be ok but nothing special.Although the diamond market is still quite poor I think it is more our lack of big diamonds compared to last year which was a record. Also lack of dividend. As you say PDL SP has been decimated but I believe is down to the large debt held not just the diamond market.GEMD has little/no debt so should not fall as bad as that. This is reaching all time lows now so could jump up on any good news/improvement. I might average down some more. GLA
This article shows Rio still think diamonds are worth being in. As Argyle nears closure who knows they may start looking at other potential buys! https://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/rio-tinto-sees-rosy-future-162028603.html . Surely we should at least get back to £1 at some point. Mind you look how low PDL has become [ but largely due to debt] I will still hang on here for now as not ready to take the losses on this just yet. Been in for years!! GLA
Indeed.Just another attempt at pump and dump. However, if these Jokers ever actually achieved something we could have been sitting on a nice bit of money.https://www.indmin.com/Article/3874605/Fluorspar/Chinese-offers-for-metspar-reported-above-acid-grade-price.html GLA
Hi Lytton,I like you am a long suffering holder of this share. My quite substanial investment is now worth a 'paper hat' with averaging down just making it worse. It is very hard to still have any faith in this company when they have acheived very little over such a long time.I kick myself for not selling out when this briefly went over 2p when the MOU was announced.[even though it would still have been a massive loss] We should have known that would amount to nothing like usual.I like you will continue to hold in the hope of some miracle.as what I would get now is hardly worth it! GLA
I agree glasgowpunter, the lack of dividend is certainly not helping the share price. As you say it was not very clear where all the money went. You can only assume their expenses are still very/too high despite the so called cost saving exercise. As I have said before our best hope of a dividend is if they eventually sell the Ghaghoo mine.On that subject this article [although old] shows that may not be so easy/or at such a great price. It would seem this was not a good investment but a very expensive one.I assume this also is holding back the share price.https://www.miningmx.com/news/diamonds/31209-desperately-seeking-suitor-gems-ghaghoo-diamond-mine/ GLA
This article implies the outlook for diamond miners is fairly rosey.I wish our SP would start to reflect that.Surely we should at least be over £1....http://www.mining.com/web/investor-sentiment-diamond-mining-stocks-makes-contrarian-play/ GLA
I agree,it was very disapointing. It seems despite their cost cutting exercise the the costs are still very high.It seems the Lesotho Government are doing quite well out of GEMD but certainly not us shareholders. Our best hope is still the sale of Ghagoo.Although they did not say the sale had fallen through, given the lack of detail it makes you wonder if there is a problem/the price is not good etc.I have held these for many years too, at a much higher average [despite averaging down] It still feels there must be potential here, but it always seems to disapoint.I think i will hold a bit longer to see if the sale goes through at least.GLA
Mr Bond I agree it seems very strange why the cash position is not better.Given this has been a record year for large diamonds it does not bode well for a poor year.Maybe the full year results will set out more clearly what exactly was earned/spent.Presume then is when they would mention any dividend, but unless the other mine is sold I cannot see them having the cash for a dividend. As you say a disapointment, which seems to have been reflected in the SP.Surely one day this will come good! They are still earning millions and have no debt unlike many companies, but they need to get their costs down a lot more.Anyone else got any ideas/observations. GLA
We know the update should be good but the share price never seems to reflect/react to it.As you say a good dividend is the only thing that might help it .IF they have finally sold the other mine and were going to pay at least some of it back to shareholders via a special dividend then we could get somewhere.I suppose any dividend may not be mentioned until the full year results though.Let's hope for something special tomorrow!
