It's more about the users and adoption. If people can't connect some wont come back. I'm a huge Melody fan but the demand for this should haven been well sorted. You know the demand you're going to get when you're on one of the largest shows in America. A really sad day for the Melody server team. This should have been stress tested!
hmmmm what an amazing missed opportunity! Even the recorded playback is currently giving issues. Perhaps far too many countries onboard to cope with their current server infrastructure. It's still currently down!! I think the share price could possibly have hit 10 today if it had been successful. Still bag loads of potential if they manage to sort it out. This wasn't the day I had in my mind. They need to make a statement instead of hiding. We can only hope things went well in the USA!
You're right, I'm seeing the same from the initial feed! They are playing the recorded content.
The jump spots also seem to be working seamless. Really looking forward to the main event in around 10 mins!
Pretty good, presenter talking direct to you. I like it :-)
Straight back into the feed without any issues! The concert still hasn't started yet.
Maybe not, it all depends on which locations are effected. The USA could still be running seamless.
After messing around with the quest and the Wireless recordings it's very apparent to me that Melody VR will end up being more of a Live VR production company. With all the camera angles they can switch and have a full live production which would look mega. The highlights you can buy of the Wireless festival look great and is so much better than the standard jump spots.
Theres a screen up now saying the concert will commence @ 2.15pm. Must have though it was getting DDOS'd :-)
Well.... here we have it! D-Day is almost finally upon us. It will be very interesting what the weekend brings. This is pretty much make or break in my eyes! Yes, lots of fundamental things wrong especially with the deployment and promotional timing of the festival which will probably lead to fairly weak viewers as their twitter account still has a very low following. With all the production staff it will be interesting to see if it's just the live acts with jump spots or if they will go at from a production angle with interviews with the artists almost like the BBC Glastonbury coverage. It will be interesting to see how the streams cope. If it's anything like the Liam Payne production we are in for a real treat! Why why still no Oculus Quest support is beyond me! You would have thought they would have been wanting to showcase their platform on the best VR device to date. Still lots of things wrong but also lots of things right. What's everyone thinking about for the weekend?
Hi Cunir, the display is certainly better quality, still a good few years away from where it needs to be. I was watching some VR music streams (non Melody) and there was a good improvement. Certainly puts Melody on a slightly better stage. As an immersive gaming machine this is the dogs bollocks. Fingers crossed this is the main focus launch device. I simply can't see Facebook/Oculus releasing another VR device outwith their yearly cycle (seems to be). I would say by going after the gaming community they will be hoping for big numbers (and everyone loves music). I was having a right good go at it last night and it's certainly got the same feeling as when the Nintendo Wii same out because games suddenly became more interactive. I'm not sure a company like Melody would last another year of not making much money, I think they could possibly be forced to use the Quest as the platform of choice. Now I've got the Quest the Go won't be picked up again...
I would have thought they would be live streaming from Ibiza Rocks this year. I’m chocking to see the difference in quality and any changes in the app to see if they can do some sort of parallax scroll with the 6dof. It’s a must you can attend events / concerts with remote friends and a subscription service for continued revenue. They must be holding onto content for specific reasons as we all know they have a big catalogue. To be fair, they quest really is a sexy device. If there ever going to be a VR device that has the possibility of hitting main stream this is it. The display could still be better but all in all an incredible experience and take ‘immersive’ to a whole new level from the Go.
It’s nowhere! Not on device or App Store. A bit surprised but not a huge issue as long as it’s coming soon as the hope it’s they will take the limelight with a launch (hopefully). It’s all a bit weird the radio silence.
Got the Oculus Quest delivered today guys and so far no MelodyVR on it. We can only hope there's a big launch in the pipeline! The Quest is a real game changer right enough...
Am I the only one finding the Oculus Quest news as completely underwhelming for MelodyVR? I completely understand it's a step forward in terms of games and VR experiences with a more immersed feeling with the 6DoF. I'm really struggling to see how the new Quest will progress the MelodyVR experience apart from device adoption. The main problem is the current resolution in the MelodyVR App. It's mainly the resolution that will put people off from using the App and coming back. The Quest seemingly has the same resolution as the Go. To me this is bad news for MelodyVR. Is anyone else thinking the same?
Hi thechancers, yes, I’ve got the larger memory one. You don’t need a PC because it’s a self contained unit. You can download VR games direct into the headset. To be perfectly honest I love it. My wife isn’t currently to keen on it because when I’m using it there’s currently no way for her to be included in games. Unless she has her own headset and playing an online multiplayer. I show her stuff from time to time and she is impressed but keeps going on about it being blurry, she just can’t see past the resolution. I believe there was talk about having a screen share of what’s on your screen to an external device. This will certainly help especially when watching a MelodyVR concert. It would be good for us to have a drink and sort of be social when watching a concert. Big things to come in the future. Everything is possible.
This company is certainly going to be a winner. It’s evolution... we need the live events, 4K screens, longer batteries, some slightly better camera angles and..We jammin', I hope you like jammin' too?
Few, I was starting to sweat a little... :-) the long term goal hasn't changed, but it's been hard to turn a blind eye with the recent swings. Lets hope it's onwards and upwards... Live concerts should hopefully see a good spike depending on device & app adoption. Roll on better immersive VR headsets!
The iPhone App currently just seems to show you a brief clip saying to download MelodyVR for your virtual reality headset.
I think this is the main interesting part.
"Over the coming months, MelodyVR will also live stream real-time concerts via VR and offer virtual tickets to sold-out shows with the biggest artists."
Admitting that the live events are coming and it will be with the biggest artist.
