Is this on phone Nb140? Seems OK for me...
Thats great news about now being number 19 in the IOS downloads A1EX... Fingers crossed things go crazy this week (including the share price). I know from last years gig that MelodyVR will impress the world with their production / interviewing etc.. the host last year were very energetic and things worked amazing! :-) This is our time to shine....
I'm certainly no expert in the genre Alex as I only follow a few artists. Some of them only came on my radar from last years Wireless gig that Melody covered. That's great IP if your telling us this is huge. Do you think it's possible they've still to release some headline acts IP? As it's strange for the main people they were mentioning (most I follow) to be missing from the list?
Hi Alex, Good find... yeah I see that... Very strange... either that or their waiting to blow the bloody doors off.... or the possibility of some paid for content along side the festival??
hmmm somethings not right here... Either that or they are saving some big names for a surprise before the big day... No Machine Gun Kelly who we know was / is in the studio, Cardi B, A$AP Rocky, Travis Scott etc..
Hopefully this gig will show the gulf between MelodyVR and what the alternative is...
Did anyone see what’s happening next week??

Surely this can’t be good timing. I get the fact it’s different music but never the less an incredible line up.
TBH decommissioning the GO is a good move. The leap from the GO to the QUEST truly is mind blowing. We all know that it will be the game and porn industry that will make VR go mainstream but things need to be at least 6dof to have the wow factor (which currently adds nothing to the Melody experience). If your first VR experience is on the GO then I fear for some it would be their last. The MelodyVR viewer will give you a better experience than the GO and the same for any cheap £20 VR Viewer headset you can get off eBay. The Quest 2 or Quest S will come out (possibly by the end of the year but Covid might have put this back) but I would expect the Quest to drop price before Xmas. As said the glasses on the near horizon will add nothing to Melody as we need 360 full view which can't be achieved using AR, AR will just be overlays. We need higher resolution for the experience to be better. The sound is currently spot on just the picture is sub standard on current VR devices. What concerns me is Melodys total lack of taking advantage of everything their doing. They've had some pretty big names but are having no-where near the penetration they should be achieving. I know people stick up for the marketing department but trust me on this, someone / some people in there haven't got a clue. I see continued SIMPLE errors, lackadaisical marketing with next to no engagement. Someone needs to stand up and be counted. This seems to be just the same mistakes over and over continually. I'm actually starting to lose patients with their marketing attempts. I keep expecting something to kick in... but it never does! It's almost as if they keep banging the same blunt nail into a post... yes, it will eventually go in.. but one good hit with the right hammer and it's in. They are struggling big time to pick up traction when they should be picking users up in bucket loads. It's beyond me... I'm going to put my neck out there and say someone needs to take the bullet. Users could be at least 100x what they are currently achieving.
Wow.. that was some chair that! As someone said it would have been nice to have a bit of branding in the background (simple stuff). Really looking forward to the event though. The Ally Pally looks amazing and there will certainly be lots of live stuff going on. The hosts last year were really good and everything was spot on so a year down the line and this will be nailed. This will be the showcase for any future festivals all over the globe. I would expect the PR to kick in this weekend / next week. Or perhaps it's already started with the Wireless email list. Is anyone on it that could confirm?? I just don't get why this event isn't plastered all over the Wireless Festival website (crazy) if you ask me. You go to the website and nowt hits you at all?? I might miss some of it due to the Lost Horizon VR Event that the Shangri la Glastonbury team are putting on the same weekend. Completely different genres but a superb line up!... Better mark myself as AWOL that weekend...
I've seen it all now Deadcross. Labelled a troll and filtered in your first post. Someone got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning...
I keep reading people talking about the 'glasses' type devices that are coming out. Lets be completely clear on this point. This will add nothing to the current MelodyVR application. VR requires a huge amount of power (battery life) and processing power. You just simply can't put on a pair of AR specs and watch in VR. The mixed reality sets that will come later can certainly help but for the foreseeable future these will all be 'headsets' rather than 'glasses'. What we need to see is advancements in the resolution of VR headsets, advancements in battery size/life, the size and comfort of a VR device. As always I'm sure Oculus will be the forefront leader in technology over the next few years and it will be interesting to see what happens as the space grows.
Katelyn Tarver was FREE to watch on the platform but they have now monetised it at £4.99 for the set :-) Where the heck is John Legend still, why produce the show then having it nowhere? You would also have thought that if you went to the MelodyVR website that the word FREE would be somewhere near Wafia & Alexanders promotional pages and on their images, its nowhere. The small SIMPLE things really annoy me as we could be picking up more users!!!!
Hi Mel, Zedd's been on the App for a good while. They only gave it another dink via their social media. Why would John Legend not be available FREE to watch if this was part of the FREE EVENTS. Still no sign of it and others have appeared that were after him. Do you think it's coming on monetised? Should be there still attracting the crowds...
Can’t argue with most of that COdey, here’s a thought. Do you think MelodyVR are possibly creating the content in stereoscopic? Some of their engineers do have previous experience. Fit me this content would be far better in 180 stereoscopic and hooked in with Oculus Venues this would enhance the true experience of the onstage staging and props. The Broadway one that was mentioned in an earlier post. I think this non VR.
I believe she’s still in LA so would be the LA Melody studio if anything. I don’t think anyone would be travelling from the frying pan into the fire. I read she was spotted again a couple of days ago at the gym. She’s been working on a new album for sure especially now she’s single again and on the open market. There was rumours a few years ago that she was heavily invested in MelodyVR so would be the perfect fit for an album debut...
And you get signed stuff and merchandise. Don’t know if I’d still pay that for a virtual experience lol
WTF surely these prices have to be a joke??
I think the next step for MelodyVR is turning their performances into true 3D rather than being a flat 2D 360 experience but completely understand streaming technology would need to catch up for this to happen. Hence the reason most VR 3D is filmed in 180. Completely understand about the John Legend, for me you still need the visuals even if they are simple. AR will bring a whole new dimensions to live gigs as the artists will have the freedom to explore the possibilities of back staging and props. Mixed reality will be from a whole new dimension. I for one will be first in the queue for the Apple Glasses, it will be well cool to get stats on footballers etc, my brain has a hard enough job switching off with all the connected tech! Soon we will be cyborgs controller by Elon Musk lol! It’s going to be really interesting to see the possibilities and as per usual Apple will be high end with their offering.
I think the thing with concerts / artists it’s the staging that really helps to make the performance as well as the artist. When you take that away you lose the magic. Lighting, digital backdrops and effects, smoke etc... Some acts I’ve seen are more floor shows these days. When you extract the artist from this it just wouldn’t do it for me. AR will be massive. Especially in education and sales. Not 100% where it fits into music. I remember watching the EE performance of Bastille with AR stuff but it was in addition to the live acts. I think the AR glasses will be more seeing additional things. AR enhances the user’s experience in the real world rather than replacing it.
Hi Rondar, you’re talking a lots of specifics which needs more time for production and has to be in special studios with the correct hardware and things like green screens etc it would be good but not as immersive as full 360 VR..I would imagine if anyone would do that it would be Apple themselves after recently purchasing NextVR but I don’t think this is something MelodyVR would consider as all they’re eggs are in the VR basket. Possibly things could change in the future but we’re a good few years before this tech would get adopted. Now is the time for VR main stream adoption... it’s been holding us back but they’ve hopefully found a work around with mobile / mobile with the melody VR viewer...
