Hi WhatShares, I hear what you're saying about 'free indirect marketing', I really do hope we gain from it. For me this is really bad timing on MelodyVRs part. It defies the whole point about trying to tap into Wiz Khalifa's social followings. He will be massively pushing his own live event on all his channels especially as he will be releasing 'new music' and this will completely dwarf the MelodyVR free screening. Even having it before or after would have made more sense.
I'm sure it will be good as Supersphere are a VR production company.
Hi Alex, I see this as s 100% fatal mistake of someone not doing their homework.... someone needs to get punted for that one or they need to change the time of the Roundhouse gig. It could be deliberated... but I doubt it...
I could be missing something here but I think you're a bit off the mark and adding 2 + 2 & getting the wrong answer plus the Oculus Venues one is live in LA and ours is a pre-recorded event in the Roundhouse. As far as I know MelodyVR events this week wont appear in Oculus Venues. If this its really bad timing on MelodyVRs part as most people will watch the true live gig and not prerecorded. Someone please correct me if you're seeing different. I hope I am....
Hi 50rrell. I don't see anything on FB & Melody in Venues. The only thing I can see in venues is Whiz Khalifa's gig that partnering with Facebook. I think MelodyVR are just paying for adverts. Can you tell me where you saw this please? Thanks
Hi Guys,
Feel very up and down this morning with todays RNS. Like many other have said this could have been arranged weeks ago but perhaps they were waiting on Frank Carter to try get different generes in there for picking up more users. It's just a PR / user pickup exercise to increase the app signups for advertising.
Like MelodyVR typical style... we're doing this and we're doing this tomorrow? No build up, no time for heavy teasers on social media, no time for good organic reach.... I know we are currently in lockdown but even people have appointments during lockdown such as people working from homes, family quizzes, booked phone calls with family, certain jobs to do... why not give it at least 4 days notice with an artist push 4 days before and on the day before or day of the event... crazy and infuriates me... it's like Wireless all over again. Perhaps they're using their analytics matrix and realise they only get one hit wonder from a tweet / post from the artist then gets buried afer a day because the artists don't currently pin this. I can only hope there's a logical explanation for the time period.
That being said... it will do it's job and pickup users. Crazy to think with this technology they cant have UK/Europe screening times for all gigs and the same for the USA. While there will be people in Europe that would want to see the gig putting them on at 2am in the morning might limit the amount of European downloads.. but get there needs to be an overall balance so they can just push 1 post / tweet for more reach. There's only one gig I've not got and I dont think I'll be staying up to 2am to watch. That been said I'm currently not the target market as they try to gather more users. It's all about the users. I know people in the past have mentioned about O2 and texting their userbase and other partners they have. By law in most circumstances this can't be done because of GDPR issues. You simply just can't push another company on your users. There would be colosal fines for this behaviour. However if the company had a monthly / weekly newsletter email that a user receives it could possibly be part of this depending on the T&C's users have signed up to. It's simple.... after this WE NEED A LIVE GIG with a BIG NAME in our own location with us controlling the factors. To me its starting to sound more like MelodyVR could become more like concert event organisers for these smaller gigs. I know we have access to the artists but just like anything else we will probably have to pay for exclusive perfomances that we have much more control over.
Hi guys... just as someone pointed out recently it’s more users I want... we get people coming to me all the time in digital marketing that have previously bought Facebook likes (you’d be surprised at the size of some of the companies). This seems more of an organic pattern. Also if you look at most of there ads they start with - follow us (Clear call to action) - ‘Follow us to watch all your favorite country music superstars in stunning VR and 360° video. Kelly Clarkson, Luke Combs, The Head and The Heart, Thomas Rhett’
The only concern with me is... is that factually correct. You don’t get VR videos by following their FB page.
WOW... progression... I actually got a response from MelodyVR about carrying across purchases from your accounts to different devices! This is a first... I've contacted them several times about other issues and this is the first time they have got back and in a timely manner. Good to see them finally responding from a DM on their social channel about a legitimate query. :-) Happy Dayz.... We just need AM to finally following up on his RNS to make it a good weekend...
Yeah, the Oculus Quest has been sold out for months... even before the pandemic struck China. I'm sure it will have a direct effect on VR take-up..... if you can't buy what some perceive as the VR machine that has the best chance of going mainstream. Personally I love mine and everyone that has a shot is completely blown away.
Directors cut... this ones for the users... is it just me that gets hacked off when there's no directors cut? This is just complete laziness by the team. Why spend all that time and energy producing the concert and not making it into a refined production of the best parts? The directors cuts are the ones that would sell it for most people and would have much more wow factor than the individual jump spots. I just don't understand this at all...
A1EX they must be waiting on America wakening up before plugging it. Good to finally see someone that knows what they're doing...
Nice one A1EX. Yeah, I see them on the website.... :-)
They've been missing a good bit of Indie! While Steve is not a massive name, it's great to see new acts being added to the library from different genres. This could be a wee Friday night treat...
Hi kingsofkeighley... theres 2 figures. 1 is people that like this and the other are followers.. The 2 of them are fairly close. Would this maybe be the difference?

Hi Optmist59...
You could be right... they were planning on filming in 12k but not sure if it has been put into production or not. Here's the article on the current 8K
https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/article/melody-vr-music-interview
but they have also said they plan to film in 12k but I can't see anything officially announced to that effect.

I would imagine that it would be very easy to change the resolution on any concert as you can easily downscale, although it would take a bit of time on a 360 stitch HD video format. 8k is more than enough, although 12k is huge.
The new Facebook updates are more aimed at domestic / small businesses or groups of 50 and under. At present there’s no way that MelodyVR could use their new updated platform to do this. They need very heavy enterprise cloud servers around the world, hence the tie up with a cloud company. Good on Facebook though for reacting quickly to the new norm of social distances and keeping groups and communities together.
My Guess is their currently advertising to all the country western music fans and in areas of America that are big on country western. It would explain why so many recent ones and their coverage CMAs.
Hi Robidicus, they must be having a push on their social platforms in America. We won’t see anything here as they will be using location targeting. I would also hope that this will be with the help of the analytics company thats jumped onboard.
Sorry meant 16th April for both...
Hi Orlm, maybe you were running an older version of the app or something? Theres only been 2 updates this month which was Frank Carter and the Rattle Snakes & Michael Ray which were released on the 16th April & March. Before this it was Carly Pearce on the 26th of March... Someone please pipe in if I've missed one?
There hasn't been any new content added. It does say the last android update was 27 April 2020. Those artists were added a while ago. The Apple update has just been released but don't see anything glaringly obviously that stands out (apart from changing shows around to go after USA. They always said they wanted to conquer USA. It still get to me that I cant get any shows I purchased via my Quest on the Apple phone. They really need to sort this out.
