Hi Guys,
Feel very up and down this morning with todays RNS. Like many other have said this could have been arranged weeks ago but perhaps they were waiting on Frank Carter to try get different generes in there for picking up more users. It's just a PR / user pickup exercise to increase the app signups for advertising.
Like MelodyVR typical style... we're doing this and we're doing this tomorrow? No build up, no time for heavy teasers on social media, no time for good organic reach.... I know we are currently in lockdown but even people have appointments during lockdown such as people working from homes, family quizzes, booked phone calls with family, certain jobs to do... why not give it at least 4 days notice with an artist push 4 days before and on the day before or day of the event... crazy and infuriates me... it's like Wireless all over again. Perhaps they're using their analytics matrix and realise they only get one hit wonder from a tweet / post from the artist then gets buried afer a day because the artists don't currently pin this. I can only hope there's a logical explanation for the time period.
That being said... it will do it's job and pickup users. Crazy to think with this technology they cant have UK/Europe screening times for all gigs and the same for the USA. While there will be people in Europe that would want to see the gig putting them on at 2am in the morning might limit the amount of European downloads.. but get there needs to be an overall balance so they can just push 1 post / tweet for more reach. There's only one gig I've not got and I dont think I'll be staying up to 2am to watch. That been said I'm currently not the target market as they try to gather more users. It's all about the users. I know people in the past have mentioned about O2 and texting their userbase and other partners they have. By law in most circumstances this can't be done because of GDPR issues. You simply just can't push another company on your users. There would be colosal fines for this behaviour. However if the company had a monthly / weekly newsletter email that a user receives it could possibly be part of this depending on the T&C's users have signed up to. It's simple.... after this WE NEED A LIVE GIG with a BIG NAME in our own location with us controlling the factors. To me its starting to sound more like MelodyVR could become more like concert event organisers for these smaller gigs. I know we have access to the artists but just like anything else we will probably have to pay for exclusive perfomances that we have much more control over.
