So on the basis of your argument for defending the Government fining Lloyds 90 million, are the Government themselves not going to be guilty of what they have fined Lloyds for when they renege on their "triple lock" promise for increases to State Pension? So what will the fine be for them when they do this?

OK, so according to the FCA Lloyds was fined for breech's of PRIN 3 and PRIN 7, which are as follows:
PRIN 3 Management and control
A firm must take reasonable care to organise and control its affairs responsibly and effectively, with adequate risk management systems.
PRIN 7 Communications with clients
A firm must pay due regard to the information needs of its clients, and communicate information to them in a way which is clear, fair and not misleading.

So my understanding is that Lloyds wrote to customers with renewal quotes stating that the quotes were competitive with industry premiums. Every Insurance Company does this when time for renewals come around. They send a renewal quote 1 month before the expiry date of the policy and they always state that the quote provided is competitive. For want of better word, only the gullible customers fall for this and renew their quote. The ones who are streetwise will know this is utter tosh and go to one of the insurance comparison websites to get a quote, and 99% of the time get a quote far cheaper. The law is now changing and insurance companies are now obliged to give renewal quotes no costing no more than that what would be quoted to a new customer. But anyway, why are all the insurance company's not being fined by the FCA for sending misleading letters at Policy Renewal times?

Surely the onus is fully on each individual to establish where they would get the best price by shopping around themselves? There are plenty of internet based comparison websites for getting insurance quotes? And Lloyds has already said it had realised they had acted inappropriately and paid compensation to customers affected. So as this 90 million fine goes straight to the FCA, it smacks to me of the Government seeing how much cash piles the banks are now sitting on ready to distribute back to share holders now doing a "smash and grab" to shore up the Treasuries coffers!

But nether the less, pensioners considered this a reliable source of income to supplement their State Pension, never thinking that they would be suspended by the Government. They are distrustful of holding shares in banks now with the threat that the government can at will suspend them with no notice, with many considering selling when they break even and investing in other dividend paying companies that cannot be bullied by the government into suspending dividends.

So what about pensioners who supplement their pension with dividends from shares as their only other source of income. So any pensioner who had shares in any of the banks to supplement their pension income lost that when PRA stopped the banks paying dividends, and now looks like going to be shafted twice by the government!

Looks like pensioners will not be honoured with guaranteed triple lock rise in pensions this year.

The person who posted this has clearly "cherry picked" the quote to suit his agenda. The part that has conveniently been omitted is "in the event of a no deal Brexit"!

I would say not. There are 2 pieces of the jigsaw missing, clarity from the PRA regarding confirmation of removal of restrictions, and then confirmation from banks of how the excess cash piles will be returned to share holders. Only when both of these pieces of the jigsaw are finally in place will we see the Bank SP's react positively. IMO
