On Grid and Off Grid mean nothing here, all the EV Charger needs is a power connection capable of providing at least the nameplate capacity of the EV Charger, it makes no difference whatsoever if that power comes from a power station or an AFC Fuel Cell. Integration is not a requirement, just as the ROLEC and ENEL X EV Chargers were not integrated.

Yes, I know very well that ABB are integrating the AFC FC system with one of their rapid EV Chargers, but that does not stop ABB selling any of it's EV Chargers along with a separate AFC FC system. Another example would be for a fleet at a remote site, where they want 30 x 22kW EV Chargers, there is no way that the FC system would be integrated.

I think some here are missing the point.

1) The charger is being announced as 'The World's Fastest EV Charger'
2) Any EV Charger would as a first option be connected to the Grid
3) If the local Grid connection is not powerful enough then the connection has to be upgraded, potentially at a cost of millions for a new Substation and new costly 3-Phase cabling, and a wait of 9 months or more for the work to be completed
4) The OPTION on ANY high power EV charger where the Grid needs upgrading is to put in an AFC Fuel Cell system instead
5) This highest ever power charger is more likely to need a Grid upgrade than the lower power chargers, for obvious reasons. So there is an increased chance of AFC Fuel Cells being chosen to go with it.

You need to DYOR on EV's boy, a lot of DYOR. I've already done mine over the past 20 years since buying my first EV, a Peugeot Scoot'Elec in the year 2000, that constant research has been used to lobby government persistently to put in more EV charging points, so I do know precisely how clean EV's are. I suggest you look up the German well to wheel study that shows that even if an EV was using the dirtiest coal power, it would still produce far less emissions over it's life than a combustion car, this was confirmed by another independent study completed last year.

You also need to watch this fact based video, not the garbage produced by those paid by oil barons to hold up the EV transition.

And I stand by what I said about those that can afford to change to an EV but don't, which is a significant percentage of people.

If that includes you, then clearly your ride is far more important to you than the condition of the planet, and more importantly the state you leave the planet in for all of the next generations, including generations of your family, your friends families, etc.

When you drive down the road chucking out CO2, NOx and Particulates, you don't even think about the next generations getting respiratory illness from the NOx, or mental issues from the Particulates, or them living in worsening weather conditions caused by the CO2, or all the other creatures that you are making extinct with your pollution, you don't give a toss so long as you can drive what you want to drive instead of what you should be driving.

All I hear is BS excuses from most people as to why they have not changed to an EV. And even bigger BS from those that say they will only buy an EV when they have no other choice, and will run their polluting combustion s h I t e until it runs into the ground, by which time the pollution rate will be many multiples of what it produced when new.

If you fit the above then you deserve every bit of pollution related illness you get in later life, because you are one of those producing that pollution that everyone else has to breathe in and risk getting those illnesses caused by you. What goes around comes around.

Not a lot shown regarding the car details, but BIG words from RR about the move to EV's. And I note especially that even though they have big heavy cars, they are not going for Hydrogen Fuel Cell cars.

I give them huge credit for announcing they will have their first EV on commercial sale in 2023, after several of them have done testing that will rack up 2,500,000km, equivalent to 400 years driving!

Many of you will have read the news items showing the surge in UK EV buying since issues with fuel supply hit. I am always tracking EV numbers on Autotrader, usually I look once a week, just out of interest to see if availability is increasing. I looked last Wednesday and there were 7,124 for sale which is not much of a change over the past 3 months (new vehicles going on sale has been quite balanced with the number of cars sold each week). Due to the fuel shortage I decided to check every day since then and I can sure see a surge in buying, with the tally today at 6,100, so 1,024 drop in a week (on top of the normal balance of new listings and those sold). EV dealers are saying they've had the busiest week ever. The fuel supply issue has tipped many that were on the fence, over to the EV buyer side. I guess some that really really need to get places have bought an EV rather than look despairingly for fuel. And the rich that can afford any EV would probably just go out an buy one, rather than sit in a 2 hour queue for fuel.

Industry experts are saying that this fuel issue will now be on everyone's minds, even with a short term fix such as the Army driving fuel trucks, so the EV uptake will likely maintain a higher level of sales than before the issue arose.

Fleets (AFC's target market) have no doubt suffered big issues with achieving service levels with such a widespread lack of fuel. AFC are surely in discussions with many fleet owners, and this fuel supply issue could push them over the line they need to sign on.
