RE: Autopilot Was On Before Fatal Model31 Mar 2018 12:56
That's an interesting complete 180 from Tesla's initial position on this incident, where they announced that the car did not even have Autopilot. I've noticed that with Tesla's response to accidents. They have good brand awareness, but poor compassion. Also, they are really keen to get in first with s response rather than wait for data in order to provide an accurate response. OK then, sounds like (contrary to what I said after their first response), there actually are some implications for SEE following this accident. I'm surprised that Tesla is sticking so doggedly to their premise that measuring pressure on the steering wheel (whether it be from hands gripping it, water bottles hanging from it or an orange wedged between the centre spoke and the steering wheel rim) is sufficient to assess whether the driver is paying attention.
