Sorry Wilson, but I don’t understand the reference. ?????
So just to clarify. I am not at all negative on SEE (although I do think their execution sometimes leaves a bit to be desired). I bought in at around 4.69 and still hold all my shares (although I did have to sell them and buy them back again in order to move them into our ISAs when we moved back to the UK). I think that getting into 23 models of one of the biggest car manufacturers (even as an option) is a massive win. The fact that there are more models we will not be in simply gives us further room for growth. It also allows our partner to ramp up production, as it would be a big ask to suddenly start producing that number of Fovio chips from a cold start. I don’t think the fact that it’s an optional extra is bad news. Luxury items always start out as options, or come as standard only on the top end models (such as the LTZ in GM’s Chevrolet range). But they always filter down over time. I’m very impressed with this announcement and the only point I was making was to correct an error where someone said it would be standard across all GM’s cars by 2023. That doesn’t make it bad news.
Funny, if he’d said it was going to be in one model only, and I’d made the same correction, everyone would have seen it as positivity!
Lordy. I feel very embarrassed now!
Oops. Sorry Redindi. Feeling sheepish. I thought your “factually” post was aimed at me and got miffed. Deeply apologise!
WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR POINT?? I HAVE NOT DENIED ANY OF WHAT YOU SAY. ALL I DID WAS STATE A SIMPLE FACT THAT GM HAS MORE THAN 23 CARS IN ITS RANGE (AFTER SOMEONE SAID THAT WAS THE ENTIRE RANGE) AND THAT SC IS BEING OFFERED AS AN OPTION (AFTER THE SAME POSTER SAID IT WOULD BE STANDARD). THOSE ARE FACTS. I DID NOT SAY ANYTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT THE ANNOUNCEMENT. IN FACT I SAID THAT 23 WAS GOOD NUMBER OF MODELS TO START WITH AND THAT THE TECHNOLOGY WILL BECOME UBIQUITOUS. GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR BACKSIDE AND STOP MAKING UP THINGS THAT I NEVER SAID.
Redindi,
No. But when somebody says GM has stated they are rolling it out across all their cars as standard when neither is true, then I feel it is important to correct that on a board that exists to share information. I did NOT say I “expect” GM to do anything. All I said was what they HAVE said. Honesty is not negativity. I also said that the technology will become ubiquitous in time. How the **** is that negativity??? What in my post said that I wanted a 5 year prediction. Do not tell lies and put words into my mouth. Thank you.
I wasn’t being negative. I was just stating some facts. I’m long and a huge believer in this company and its technology. But facts are facts. Ultimately I’m sure it will end up in pretty much all their cars but that’s not what “23 models” represents. 23 is still impressive anyway from one contract at this early stage. Just clarifying some questions that had been raised. I’m sorry if that is taken as negativity.
GM has a lot more than 22 vehicles in its range. It’s a good number of models though for sure. However, he did say it would be an option, not standard on those models. Still, like all these things, it will become ubiquitous in time. I remember when electric windows and a/c were considered a luxury option on cars!
Is anyone else thinking that the electric Hummer being launched on 20/5 is likely to contain our tech? The car is obviously going to be expensive and pitched at the top end of the market. Seems a perfect fit for Supercruise to me. In fact, I’d be pretty surprised if it isn’t fitted as standard or available as an option on such a high tech, high end GM vehicle.
Yes I found that bit interesting too Robbiefalcon.
Interesting article. Doesn’t mention SEE but good news for investors I’d think. Nothing we didn’t already know I believe, but good to see it getting coverage.

Thanks Terry. Wasn’t sure about Bosch just because the graphics were different to anything I’ve seen from SEE. Byton was much more “familiar”. At least the Byton one seemed to be sticking to our core purpose and looked likely to materialise when the car is released. Not sure that seeing more concepts like transparent sun visors is likely to help get us into cars.
Lot of eye tracking on show. Not sure the Bosch one is us, but the Byton one at 5:55 looked familiar.

I probably missed it as I’m sure the eagle eyed regulars will already have spotted this, but I didn’t see it mentioned (been quite busy lately mind you). Looks like SEE are in the new Ford Mustang Mach E. not sure if it will be all models or an optional extra on the lower ones. I’d guess optional on lower spec cars but standard on the high end ones and First Edition models.
Funny enough, I said this was coming about a year ago (based on some inside knowledge) and got leapt upon by certain vocal board members who obviously knew so much more than me. Stopped me contributing but this is my “told you so” moment so I’m taking it!!
Interesting article: http://www.electronicdesign.com/automotive/cadillac-s-semi-autonomous-super-cruise-shines-troubled-times "Presenting the other side, General Motors Cadillac is in the process of establishing an impressive track record with the deployment of Super Cruise in its 2018 model year Cadillac. With shipments starting roughly a year ago, the semi-autonomous car has performed for months in the hands of customers without a failure. This success has been achieved through a combination of transforming the OnStar connectivity platform, a robust sensor solution, and advanced mapping capabilities." That was the most interesting paragraph. Whilst there are obviously WAY more Teslas with Autopilot on the road, the fact that Supercruise so far has not had a single failure is pretty impressive. We need more on the road to see if it as good as this statistic would suggest.
I'm pretty sure this just relates to forward looking cameras for things like pedestrian detection and collision avoidance, so unlikely to involve SEE. There's a chance it could involve some sort DSM system, but it isn't mentioned in the press release.
Alex8, that’s exactly the point I was trying to make yesterday. This is undoubtedly big news for SEE, but it really doesn’t mean we will be in every car by 2021. I do however believe it means we will be in most (or at least many) high end vehicles, as they will want to stand out from the Toyota Yarises (Yari?) of the world with better technology.
Well, what a day! Been a while since one of my shares had a day like that. Not as good as the day Ballard signed a deal with VW, but hopefully this one will hang on to its gains better! I actually think tomorrow will bring another big move in the SP, as the news will not have spread yet. I see tomorrow bringing us comfortably into double figures. Can it hold there? The (quite literal) million dollar question!
This has to be good news for SEE, but before we get too carried away let's remember that Jaguar cars now claim to have "drowsiness detection". All it does is monitor your driving style for wandering about in your lane. But it uses it as a flag for possible drowsiness/distraction. So that could be all that's required. However, I definitely think that because all new cars must have it, a system like that will become the base system. At the moment, it's still considered pretty "high end". But I think that we will see the new Skodas and Polos released in a few years with this kind of system. That will pretty much force the Audis, BMWs, Infinitis etc of the world to install something which makes them stand out. Step up "real" driver monitoring. So it will be fabulous news for us (I believe), but I don't for one second believe that mandatory drowsiness monitoring necessarily means something as sophisticated as SEE in every vehicle. But massive growth for us regardless, and then longer term, it will surely filter down into lower end models, as always happens with tech.
