Good news RNS: price goes down
No news: price skyrockets
I mean I’m happy, but.... ???
Like someone else pointed out (sorry I can’t recall who it was) I found that Audi steering wheel very intriguing. I find it hard to believe that was put in there by mistake.
I think by now most of us have a similar open price. SP has been static for so long. My buy in price was 4.1p average. I suspect most will be similar.
Regardless of how the Tesla cult feels, the simple fact is that SuperCruise has never had a single accident attributed to it. Same cannot be said for Autopilot. I wonder why. They make a lot of noise about how unimportant DMS is compared to the hat it can do and where it can do it. But the simple fact is that one of the most difficult parts of semi-autonomous driving is the machine to human handover and maintaining human engagement. The accident numbers say it all.
Thanks glandore. I completely misunderstood the range! Not the easiest naming convention! I thought the 2.0 was the one with DMS all along. Sorry for any confusion!
Glandore: if you check the online configurator for the MY21 F150 you can see that Copilot 360 v2.0 comes as standard on the $35,000 XLT model. It is also available as a $2,600 option on the base XL model. That’s $615 for the Copilot 360 2.0 and the rest comes from having to add the powered folding mirrors (for the cameras). So it seems to be available right across the range.
PM44: aviation pricing is eye watering so I could fully believe those numbers. FAA certification (as well as for the other authorities around the world) is lengthy and expensive and a huge barrier to entry for competitors. To give it some reference, a basic economy class chair for an aircraft costs $3,000, and even more for the ones with added functionality (chargers etc). A business class chair costs around $60,000. So something high tech like SEE with complex software and algorithms could easily cost the sort of numbers being quoted.
Shallwe: found it. It’s at 26:30 in this video:-
https://youtu.be/zgbde-SgWGM
Shallwe: this article describes it as “cutting edge DMS” so although it doesn’t specifically say it, it has to be camera based. I also watched the launch event and I can’t remember what, but something in that video made me think it was a camera system.

My mother’s favourite was “an empty barrel makes the most noise”. Still works.
Weird that he went on for two paragraphs about how amazing SuperCruise is! That’s one of the worst written articles I’ve seen in a while. Full of wild speculation and massive assumptions with zero evidence given. I mean his reason for assuming they’ve won VW seems to be that SEE haven’t gone on about it. It’s a very strange article. Also, his financial guesswork only talks about EBITDA and EBIT. GAAP profits/earnings never even discussed which seems like a bizarre omission also.
shallwe: My wife’s sister video called her from the car in Canada once. I was horrified.
Terrym: Jag have already upgraded the I-Pace with the new Pivi Pro infotainment system from this month and on the I-Pace it’s still the old coffee cup system. No camera based DMS, so I wouldn’t hold your breath on that one.
Phew! Thanks Jimbo. I couldn’t make out what that blue blob was. I thought it must be the SEE logo. Big relief. Thanks!
The problem is that Musk will spin it as an innovative groundbreaking software technology and the cult will eat it up.
I notice they’re claiming GM and it was missing from the customers slide on PM’s recent presentation. Is this something I’ve missed?
I’d love a tv which can detect when I’m asleep and pause Netflix! Come on SEE. Make it happen.
TLS: All makes sense. Fingers crossed. It all feels very upbeat of late (hence my increased position). Just been a weird few years. Would be weird to need to raise cash with the influx of money coming our way over the next year. But you just never know. I try to view everything with a healthy dose of scepticism! Like I say, it just seemed an odd choice of platform, but your reasoning makes sense. Fingers crossed! GLA
TLS: I sincerely hope you’re right. I just felt a bit edgy when I saw the organisation behind the video presenting on. They seem to be all about connecting companies with new investors. Just a slightly unnerving feeling and based on nothing more than that. I hope you’re right.
