I have not been watching Woody closely but know he has had a few stinkers. Still for him it doesn't matter cos people keep giving him their money to invest so he can keep adding more cheaper, with bigger yields and then time will take care of its self. I run something similar but with more limited funding. I'll be happy to but shares for you all if you want to send me some dosh and i'll only charge half Woody's fee! I think he waives it on a loss anyway

Yes I like the Toy Story films, I'm still a kid at heart. I know D27 from other shares and its a free bb and anyone can add their tuppence worth. Its then up to you how you take any comments. I wouldn't be advising you to put 100% into one share but I dont know your circumstances and hopefully you do and as long as you are comfortable with the risks (and reward) ok. Its still a no no for me. Voda and the markets easing this morning

There was a few hundred quid admin fee which Mrs G questioned. It appeared that this was to ring the fitter and tell him what date and time to turn up! Underlay also started costing as much as the ****et. When we cancelled the order prices were soon adjusted downward and I found another supplier who they ended up matching. I wanted Mrs G to use the latter in protest. Dont recall Debs charging me more when I buy a dress but then Mrs G adds shoes handbags etc. You win some you lose some!

I doubt I would be steaming in if things were that bad at Voda. Imagine an India episode hitting all its other divisions at the same time. 10 percent max for me cos I'm a scaredy cat and black swans are quite common.

derekvarley, NG. forced you to sell some of your shares at 1012.5p and now they are 973. One could argue they have done you a favor! The SP rose over 9% from the announcement. Was that because people were buying in to get the special divi? before falling back. Remember markets were hitting all time highs but they too have also fallen back to date although only rose less then 6%. but fell back less than Ng. So we have lost 39.5p and gained 29.1p in divi post consolidation. You still have the cash from the 1012.5p sale to add more when you like (currently cheaper) The return was £4Bn not £1Bn. and 1200 shares @1012.5p would have been worth £12150 What would you have prefered them to do with the proceeds?

TryThinking, they are not my facts but Debs own. Debt had been coming down, and was £217m (-£7m) but they are now guiding £260m and that is with inline trading. Is that a weak or a strong balance sheet could be open to some interpretation but its the first in my book. Nowt to do with seasonality but part of the new plan. Of course they have concerns over volatility so could end up off track and are already guiding to be at the bottom end of the range at best. With costs rising and hedging for FX rates ending next year things could be quite sticky. There is little room to get out of loss making stores as they have long leases unless they can do an Ireland. "or it could easily be got rid of with a 40% rights issue or not paying dividends, cutting back on investment for just a couple of years." The plan is to increase investment and I cant see a rights issue working unless there will be profit after paying the debt off. It might just end up going on leases for loss making stores! The divi is Debs second priority but the banks might trump that if push comes to shove. Do all PI's have cash for an RI and will it even be offered to them? Still there is Magic Mike out there doing something and Debs is beating the FTSE today.

By the tone of your comment it shows you are aware of the risks but it would scare me holding just one share. You never know when you will get a BP moment! Enjoyed the film but I dont want them to do a telecom version. "The broadband, shes going to blow!" doesn't have the same ring.

Zoom, its because its massive and no one holds a controlling stake. D27, I normally keep it between 5 and 10% and suspect its around the middle now. I suppose that as I add to others, it give me more headroom here

I like the presentations, give you chance to read the body language and I learn from the questions the others ask. Sometimes pick up on something I have overlooked. I think its more about time than timing and maybe buying on dips looks like good timing rather than is good timing. I wouldn't say my timing here has been that great. I thought RR had been harsh on itself and was only commenting on actual events and poor outcomes. Still its looking better going forward if one has the time, just a pity about the divi yield or I might buy even more. I liked Woody until he moved and might let him have some of my funds back one day. You could just buy his top ten yourself and save the fees. Try T, Profits are falling, debt is high and rising. As for the divi, its great as long as they can keep it and at this price factors in a cut in half anyway. Still the mighty Tesco cropped its divi so its all about ongoing operations and if the strategy will work. Queeny, Rag n Bone man getting more plays than Ed Sheeran on my playlists atm. " is being economical with the truth" Midway, a few have been caught cooking the books on benefits whilst not disclosing full details. Many seem to get away with a bit of a fiddle though, falsely claim, spend it on a nice jolly and then they are too poor to pay it back. You cant lose really and prison would feed them too. I'm not saying it fair but some seem to be able to game the system and genuine claimants seem to lose out.

Queeny, I wouldn't worry about a couple of percent, the divi will get that back if you hold on. I missed bits on the update as the call kept dropping but seemed to be going as I expected. They warned that things will be at the lower end of expectations with a caveat that things dont get much worse. I suspect that goes for most companies though. Having missed out yesterday (the phone maybe) I got one offer of a negotiated trade but ended up putting a limit order in that expires today just in case it blipped the wrong way. I suspect it might not activate though. I also tried the Tesco update but again the call dropped after 5 mins and then again after 37min. I couldn't be bothered to try again. Tesco improving as expected but I'm not rushed into buying there just yet. Debs seemed to be sitting on a wall of 44p yesterday and 43p today thought my luck was in at half nine when it dipped by maybe I was being too greedy

Mulder, I am expecting the E to reduce slightly as belts are tightened generally and costs rise over time. I'm not sure how much difference the new stores will make as I suspect it will be offset against the even poorer performance of the worse stores. Online was the bright point and rechecking the figures the extra £20m capex might not all go onto debt or am I reading that wrong. So profit will be down debt up. Even so that bit should be factored into the SP and it does look like the additional shorts, which I wasn't keeping an eye on, have doubled. That being the case the metrics do look ok and going forward it is going to be a case of which lasts longest, additional shorting or the "plan." Whilst the plan being on track is maintained you will get a handsome yield paid but could just as likely suffer lower SP's as more shorts get added pushing the snowball down the hill. How far down I suppose is the question. With the new government the consumer might have a tad more than was expected even if UK PLC will be worse off in the longer term. Still tomorrows problem might be somebody else's when you want to deal today. So a cheeky limit order maybe to see if the market drops it a tad more? I might have a closer look later
