Just looking in here as sometimes BBs can be useful in getting a bit of background from LT posters.

However the first posts i see are from one who later laments that "JOG seems to attract more than its fair share of (how shall I put it) "clueless and disingenuous t.wats".

Let's hear it for self awareness, folks.

It's seldom to make no mention of NET profits in a statement, too. If there's one thing you know for sure at EOY, it's your cash position.

look, all I'm banging on about is that this co NEVEr mentions cash bar in its statutory accounts. So we NEVER know rnuff to say when it will make cash BE, 'cos those figs are c. 18 monnths old when published.

yes, a lot of small cos are cagey about cash, usually for the v good reason they don't want speculation about the need for a raise to drive a self defeating SP downward spiral. And this co is even more cagey than most, hence my caution.

And i will remain cautious until i can see the cash position (probably in a placing RNS!) after which the co becomes, imho, investable again.

Perhaps I'm wrong. Dyor, and all that, it's your money, yur call.

Yes, that's fine...so why dont they say so? It's all assume, assume, assume. I've learnt the hard way that assuming too much is the way to lose cash. When the co states clearly it has enuff cash to a stated b/even date, that's the time to check its assertions and assumptions.

When it makes a secret of its cash position, trumpets production, market share, market background, .......well, go figure.

If all these assumptions are so, why isn't the co saying so in the RNS? ALWAYS, they keep quiet on cash, and on first cash+ve trading.

Carefully not shown. Gross profit tells us little.

Every time, TGR trumpets production, progress, gross profits. carefully makes no mention of YE cash, net loss for year, date for NET cash b/even and profits.

Untill it does, sensible investors will assume more cash will be needed before long.

Remember, Turnover is Vanity, Profit is Sanity, Cash is Reality.

i have mixed feelings about this. It could be an indication that a more aggressive growth strategy necessitates a fundraise, and in truth, nothing is non dilutive ; even debt has an impact.

otoh, if the opportunity is that attractive, and all options are being explored, it could catalyse a TO. After all, that was always the likely endgame.

After initial disappointment at this, i have decided to hold. Fingers xd.

everyone going round in circles here. i have no doubt that DFS, ML will go smoothly, tho less sure they will on their own do more than modestly and temporarily boost te SP.

What we need - what the current market really demands of all non producing miners - is cl;arity over funding. Assuming that comes from MIIF, on what terms? At what SP? And will govt impose any addnl leverage as part of that? Until that#s known, market will be wary imho.

OTOH, Neil is VERY positive, and directors have made some prety significant buys recently, so they are certainly very confident. As ever, we will have to wait and see.

i wouldn't ever put too much faith in statements like that. They are neither legally binding nor linguistically categorical, and I've seen too many placings in other companies soon after statements like it.

Not saying that's the case here, just that that's a pretty standard statement and excuses/good reasons can be found to override it if the Bod deems it expedient.

the exploration has panned out fine so far, and there seems no reason why that won't continue. this is a growing co with multiple expansion prospects at Segilola, and future development in Senegal. These will be best funded art least in large part, by cashflow. It would make no sense to buy back sgares now only to raise/borrow later.

v pleased with mgt here, Segun seems to have a plan and is sticking to it. If SP stays this low too long at current gold prices, someone will surely come sniffing.

I don't for a moment think mgt needed incentivising, nor was that the main point of the issue. Imv the messae for investors is Bod can see v +ve future and want their noses in the trough, as would we all.
The fact they are happy with a strike price double today's is very +ve.

Can you clarify if your figs take account of Piedmont 's 50% earn in to the project (not the offtake).?

LL, yes I largely agree. Any sov state holds a lot of cards and that's true here ; tho they will be keen to progress the development they will want their slice of upfront cake, as well as the ongoing employment/taxation and spin off benefits of the project once up and running.

And ALL needs a bit more cash too, so this imv is the obstacle to a much higher valuation. I suspect all these issues will resolve at one fell swoop, the unknown is how far existing holdrs might be diluted, which is giving many pause, including me.

As ever, we shall have to wait and see.

This is an impressive level of director buying.

I am sitting on the sidelines for now awaiting the Ghana SWF buy inand confirmation of the final piece of the funding jigsaw.

But..../ this level of director confidence is tempting me to dip my toe in early.

As someone points out on another thread, this is a sound divi payer which should not just return a steady divi, but as and when rates trend lower should appreciate, too.

It is not one of those get rich quick scheme where the BB is infested with talk of ramping and deramping, and I suggest anyone here talking of such is best ignored. As are obscure Latin quotations, which tell us nothing about the company but, quite intentionally, everything about the ego of the poster.

Maestro, u seem to be missing Oak's point. Which is that regardles of today's known facts, Orca could come back with more damaging allegations now they have prey in their sights, indeed their strategy could almost compel it.

Probably. But having shafted holders once, do you imagine they'll not get shafted again?

If you pull a stunt like this once, you've got an endgame in mind, and I'll wager the Bod and large holders will grab any gains. There are ways, and they're easier in a less liquid market. Having delisted once, what will stop them delisting on ASX and going private?

Happemed at JKX once they saw the money, tho at least they got screwed over themselves by VVP in the end.

TT, I tend to agree. Anyone trading this share now better know what they are doing.
