Agree with your sentiments Smick. There is an age old adage “ negativity breeds negativity” which I think is forgotten by those posting “just to get it off their chests” As a holder of Solg stock with a significant investment and no intention of selling my holding the last thing I would think to do would be constantly posting on here how bad things are and how tee’d off I am! It’s almost like a self fulfilling prophecy in that the more negative the posts become the more negative the sentiment towards Solg which ultimately translates into a PI loss of confidence and surprise surprise there is a sell off and the SP drifts downwards. This of course is great for traders and those of a more unscrupulous nature who would like to squeeze the share price lower so they can pick up a bargain! But if you are an investor in Solg with no intention of selling your holding then this negativity is harming you and your pocket! So my advice is simple. Keep your frustrations close to your chest and remember that “ positivity breeds positivity” so use this as your mantra instead.

For me this hits the nail squarely on the head! Nick wanted to acquire CGP and with it 100% ownership of ENSA but perhaps understanderbly he wanted to do that with as minimum dilution of Solg as possible so IMO he mothballed further exploration of the tenaments in Cascabel until he could finally acquire CGP which would then have allowed him to take the brakes off proving up some of the other exciting targets within the boundaries of ENSA. (Eg:- Blanca, Tandy, Moran & Aqua) Unfortunately he never managed to acquire CGP so these targets were left unexplored until the recent events following the AGM plus the sterilisation drilling of Alpala have finally triggered the starting gun on drilling which should have happened more than 18 months ago but for the reasons highlighted above! It was Nicks cunning plan which unfortunately didn’t come off and now we are doing what we could and should have done probably 2 years ago! Disappointing- Yes - but I firmly believe we will unearth more treasures within Cascabel which will significantly add to the value already found at Alpala

Bloomberg) -- Two exit polls in Ecuador’s presidential election found that the country is heading to a second-round, with socialist economist Andres Arauz in the lead over Guillermo Lasso, a career banker.
The pair will face each other in the April 11 runoff after none of the 16 candidates for president got enough votes to secure a first-round win on Sunday, according to exit polls by Cedatos and Clima Social published by local TV station Gama.
Cedatos found 34.9% for Arauz versus 21% for Lasso, while Clima Social found 36.2% support for Arauz and 21.7% for Lasso.
The National Electoral Council is expected to publish the result of a quick count close to 8pm local time.

Smickster - Totally agree. And let's not forget that most of the stuff they have found at Pov is FROM SURFACE! In fact some of the assays showed good grades starting from zero meters and a lot had decent stuff from 10 meters!

wildly speculative based on pure conjecture as is most of the stuff we all debate about on this board! Personally I think some posters are over thinking this and talk of cover ups is just plain paranoia! A more simple and straightforward explanation could be that in the process of drilling Alpala in preparation for where the decline was going to be situated they found compelling evidence in the cores suggesting that Tandy - which was an original target but had never been drilled - contained ore grades which could be economically mined and caused them to have a serious rethink about the mine design and whether or not Tandy could ( after further exploration drilling) be included as part of a mine re-design. IMO this is the most logical and sensible course of action preventing errors which could prove very costly to rectify further down the line and may in fact end up adding more value to the eventual Feasibility Study? Now clearly this is all conjecture on my part but I feel it makes more sense than blind conspiracy theories about cover ups! Unfortunately for good or bad reasons we are where we are and no amount of trawling over old coals is going to change that so IMO we need to draw a line in the sand and move forward.

My bet is on us revisiting the part of Blanca which sits within 5km of Alpala and which showed lots of promise as being a near surface gold mine which would help boot strap the construction of Alpala. Until that is CGP claimed correctly that as it was located within 5km and it was deemed to be part of ENSA so CGP had a 15% share. No Surprise then when all the promising drilling was suddenly stopped and the Blanca concession divided into 2 parts. Therefore woukdnt be surprised if we start drilling this again as I strongly suspect this was the area Warren Irwin was reffering to when he said Solg were withholding results ( or words to that effect)

Also remember that what we have discovered at Alpala hasn’t changed and if anything once the PFS is finally published towards the end of this year will actually have probably grown both in value terms and most likely the cost of development / extraction.

But judging by the buys vs sells this morning there appears to be a few more impatient investors than patient ones and the greedy ones loading up with buckets are currently outnumbered by the fearful ones who appear to have a hole in their thimbles.

Personally I haven’t changed my opinion on the significant value of Solg’s resources which in time will deliver real wealth to its patient investors so nothing has really changed apart from the PFS timescales which have only moved back by about 9 months and may in the long run actually help to accelerate the path to production through a more thorough and detailed PFS.

My advice FWIW is to stay strong and be patient Solgers and don’t be tempted to sell those golden tickets which at some point in the future could be really life changing! GLA

You can bet on one thing , Nick with 90m personal Solg shares plus maybe another 200m controlled by his companies will NOT want Solg to be sold on the cheap and maybe now more than ever he has a vested personal interest in ensuring the share price is much higher than it is currently IMHO.

Simple addition of BHP/ NCM holdings together = around 27% so if the Chinese really wanted to take control of Solg they could make a “ too good to refuse” offer to shareholders and under such circumstances I could envisage everyone bar BHP & NCM accepting which would leave them with about 73% of the shares issued allowing them to effectively take control of the business even though they don’t have 100% of the share register. Just my opinion and would depend a lot on how Nick viewed such an offer but if rich enough it would allow him to exit with a very very healthy bank balance with a final two digit salute to the majors who stabbed him in the back. Think it’s Called Karma :)

RK I totally agree with your sentiments about the timing which is far from ideal as we can’t get any value from Rio until we start the drills and by that time it could be too late! Unfortunately Rio has been beset by delays and I think the big elephant in the room has been permitting and more specifically obtaining the water permit which seems to have dragged on and on and despite JW’s claimed “work around” it has been the biggest obstacle to getting Rio started IMO. So very regrettably we are where we are and if there are no bids before Q2 we may yet realise some value from Rio

is frustrating but I think the explanation they have given is credible and understandable in the current climate:-
“Commencement of drilling originally planned for November 2020 was delayed due to permitting and COVID-19 related delays resulting in further expansion of camp facilities to accommodate for isolation requirements now in place. Completion of drilling platforms and core processing facilities in conjunction with expansion of camp, office and fuel storage facilities are underway in readiness for drilling.”
The two key points here are delays in permitting and Covid with the need to build isolation facilities. Taking the permitting issue I do remember Jason Ward commenting on the delays at Rio due to obtaining the necessary water permits and he said “ we think we have found a work around” which at the time I thought sounded not quite officially rubber stamped and clearly this has turned out to be the case hence I’m guessing the quoted delays in permitting? So whilst like the rest of you I find this frustrating as the saying goes “ it is what it is” and doesn’t change the fact that Rio is still viewed as “ the sleeping giant” it just means it’s not waking up as quickly as expected but I remain confident that Rio will deliver once the drills start turning and an up-weighted drill programme of 12,000m is surely testament to their confidence in this respect IMO

Looking at Fig 3 in the RNS holes 1,2 & 3 all go across the projected path of the core but none of them actually drill down it and even holes 4 to 8 all seem to be targeted at defining the outline of the ore body but not the actual core. I think that once they have defined the total area of the ore they will then target the core which based on the diagram in Fig 3 could and should hopefully give us those grades with long sections above 1%. For me personally it is reassuring that they don’t see the need to simply stick a drill straight down the core but are more intent on delineating the boundary of the ore body which says they are confident in what they have found IMHO

looking very positive to me as they are certainly in the same ballpark as Alpala but the real game changer is they are all pretty much FROM SURFACE so there is a very real possibility that we could have another Tier 1 find which we can mine as OPEN PIT! For me this is the real gem in this RNS and when the market wakes up to this fact ( probably when we get assays from holes 5 to 8) we might finally get some value recognised in the SP and MCap IMO

Quite misleading as the CEO until 31st March remains Nick Mather and I can assure you he certainly does give a damn! Thereafter another board member will take the reigns (Kevin ) until such time as they make a permanent appointment. So we remain in good hands and who knows by the end of March we may very well have an agreement of a JV or takeover so all still to play for :)

is very puzzling given we have about 12 rigs drilling and the initial indications on both Pov & Tandy were very positive plus we must surely have sunk some holes into Rio by now which was seen almost as the sleeping giant amongst the prospective targets! So with assay results literally stacking up plus I’m sure some exciting drill cores possibly from Rio it does not make any sense whatsoever that Nick (who is still CEO until 31st March) and the rest of the board would hold back news when the share price over the past week or so has been in a tailspin? It really is counterintuitive that we would not release news to help bolster the SP especially at a time of such speculation around possible jv’s or even a possible takeover? Now is definitely not the time to let the SP slide unyet here we are back in the high 20’s! So against this background you have to ask yourself why? For me the only logical explanation is there must be something major being discussed between our BOD and an unknown party which is subject to a confidentiality agreement and would explain why we have this news blackout. Pure speculation on my part but IMHO it’s the only logical explanation for why Solg have almost put a moritoriam on releasing any news!

Guys - I know exactly what you mean and totally agree! I retired early just before my 56th Birthday with a nice final salary & corporate pension, with a pay off enhanced by a healthy AVC pot which I had built up over 10 years. So day to day money isn’t thankfully something I have to worry about plus I’m also fortunate to have a decent income from a property I rent out. Don’t get me wrong I’m nowhere in the same league as Quady or some of the other posters in here but I’m comfortable. However as you rightly point out WW life can be very boring sat on your veranda so shortly after retirement I decided to get out from under my wife’s feet ( much to her relief) and started working as a part time taxi driver not for the money but purely to give me a purpose in life! So 5 years on I’m still enjoying the variety in my day which really does help me get up in the morning although due to Covid the taxi business is on its knees ( feel for you Lostagain but hopefully you got out as planned and you’ve now got your feet up!) so presently I find myself sat at home far too much and must confess to feeling a tad bored so thank goodness for this board which in a weird kind of way gives me something to engage with and focus on along with my other equity investments. For me personally Solg isn’t about making my life better (which it would undoubtedly do if we get fair value for what’s in the ground!) it’s about leaving a legacy for my kids and grandkids ( when I finally get some!) so they don’t have to worry about paying the mortgage if they should ever lose their jobs! Wishing everyone good luck with their investments and let’s hope 2021 is truely memorable for us all :)

Know what you mean about villa prices especially in Barbados where we have had a time share for the past 12 years where the dream would be to buy a property but all the ones I like are way way out of our price bracket! Really pleased you are re-building your holding in Solg as we need pi’s with deep pockets to stir this beast into life lol ;)

Understand what your saying DBW but taking Jerry as an example he had around 33m shares in GGP at one point ( think he said he had reduced it to 30m and that was some time ago) but taking that as an exam9le the Jerry would have had over a £10m holding in GGP when the SP was North of 30p and he still posted on the GGP board as well as on here. Personally if I had that kind of wealth I would have sold the lot and be sat on my own house veranda in the Caribbean lol :)
