Almost 14 days after the general elections in Ecuador, the Plenary of the National Electoral Council (CNE) proclaimed the official results for the dignities of president and vice president of the Republic. He did it after 02:30 on this Sunday, February 21, 2021. The secretary of the CNE, Santiago Vallejo, read the national results. The presidential candidate of Correísmo that participates in the Union for Hope (Unes) alliance, Andrés Arauz , obtained 3,033,753 votes (32.72%), followed by the candidate of the Creo-Social Christian Party (PSC) alliance, Guillermo Lasso , with 1,830,045 votes (19.74%), said the official. The CNE stated that Arauz and Lasso "go to the second round of elections on April 11 in accordance with the provisions of Article 89 of the Code of Democracy ." The announcement of the results was approved with four votes in favor of the directors Diana Atamaint ,Enrique Pita , José Cabrera and Luis Verdesoto , present at the National Public Hearing of Scrutinies , which was reinstated at 23:00 on Saturday the 20th. Counselor Esthela Acero was absent.

Clearly Perez will cry foul and continue to demand recounts but Lasso and one of the other candidates also wanted recounts which haven’t been granted so it’s looking increasingly like a final vote on April 11th between Arauz & Lasso which is very good either way for mining in Ecuador and Solgold IMHO

Rich - Save yourself a load of angst and just filter him! Came to the conclusion some time ago that Q would happily have an argument with his own shadow so pointless arguing with him as you might as well argue that black is really white. Time for you to reduce your blood pressure and put him on filter so you can enjoy the board banter without constantly having to argue with him!

Keith or Kevin both seem to have some of the right credentials to be the new CEO and personally I think it might be better sticking with an internal candidate as if we recruit externally it will take a new person at least a couple of months to get up to speed before providing a new road map which wouldn’t be a factor if we made an internal appointment which would also provide some much needed stability/ continuity at a critical point for Solgold IMHO

This referendum was in relation to areas in SOUTHERN ECUADOR and only in relation to any new applications to mine and doesn’t affect concessions already granted. So no impact on Cascabel as it is located in northern Ecuador and also won’t affect the likes of Pov and our other targets in southern Ecuador as these concessions have already been granted! So relax RSR as the referendum only affects future applications for mining consessions and in that respect could actually help Solg as we have first mover advantage in Ecuador and have many many more granted concessions than any other mining company

Has been extended by mutual agreement by 4 months ( from 11th Jan to 11th May) So we still have the option to take up this offer until 11th May. As stated in the report Solg are open to all forms of financing ( not just more equity offerings) and IMO the fact they have extended the time they have to accept a further $50m loan demonstrates this and hopefully gives BHP & NCM food for thought if they are trying to get a cheap placing!

DBW - Lasso or Arauz both are pro maximising the country’s natural resources so either would be perfectly ok for Solg IMO

Left wing candidate Arauz has about 32% of the vote but Xavier Hervas ( Also left wing candidate) has about 16% of votes which was regarded as a big surprise and he could be “ King Maker” in the 2nd round if he sides with Arauz as their combined percent of the vote in round 1 = 48%! Just a thought as the 2nd place run off may prove irrelevant! Arauz was and still is the favourite and with support from the left with Hervas this could be the dream winning ticket?

Woody, clearly you don’t recall about a year ago when CD was invested and very positive on Solg then he suddenly went very negative in his posting but surprise surprise a couple of months later he was very very bullish again! It’s funny as the SP had dropped and clearly he had sold out and bought back in. It’s now dejavu and he’s up to his old tricks again. He’s clearly sold down his holding (but unlike Ice & Phats he hasn’t got the decency to be open and honest about this!) and now all his posts are very negative - wonder why? Bet you when the dust settles and he’s bought in he’ll be back here all positive again! Don’t get me wrong CD was one of my favourite posters and I too enjoyed his posts BUT he now has a personal agenda which IMO is detrimental to well being of the other folk invested in Solg so his views are now tainted and cannot be trusted!

Here is a link to an Ecuadorean Newspaper which gives a pretty good summation of where things stand. Basically you have around 1.4 million votes which are being scrutinised and recounted and the gap between Perez & Lasso currently stands at around 24,000 votes. So probably lots of twists and turns yet with even talk of a total recount!

The candidate of the Pachakutik indigenous movement, Yaku Pérez , remains tied with the candidate for CREO, Guillermo Lasso , when 97.9% of the votes have been counted. Pérez (19.87% of the votes) has an advantage of 27 hundredths over Lasso (19.6%): around 17,000 votes, according to figures from the National Electoral Council .

2.21% of the votes have yet to be processed. While another 13.95% of the votes (around one million votes) have been computed as "new votes", so they should be reviewed

I noted in another publication that 13.95% (approx 1 million votes) have been deemed to require further scrutiny hence the review which will involve recounting so still some work to do before we get the result! Let’s hope it’s Lasso which would set up a two horses race with Arauz both of whom are pro mining

Steady on old buddy with posts like your last one, oh and the one before that and just remembered the one previous to that oh and then there was also another one prior to that one, anyone would think you were trying to deramp Solg? I mean perish the thought obviously! It’s just that you said you had been looking in on this board for 4 years and then suddenly out the blue you have chosen this particular moment to start posting? Just find it strange with all of the major milestones over the past 4 years ( positive and negative) you choose now to start sharing your wisdom with the rest of us? Of course I could be completely wrong but your story just doesn’t stack up for me! Be interested to know if you hold any shares in Solg? If you do my question again would be why have you waited 4 years to post? And if you don’t then why are you posting on this board?

Addicknt - I’m not saying that we should heap praise on the previous board ( who clearly don’t deserve such praise) or that one shouldn’t hold them to account. My point is we are where we are, many have posted their thoughts on this particularly on Friday and in my view there is little to be gained and a lot to be lost by constantly regurgitating the criticisms and as you rightly state we now have a board who have recognised some of these errors and who one hopes will work towards delivering shareholder value for all. That being said it is therefore time to move on and draw a line in the sand unless of course you just want to keep moaning about things which have happened and you can’t change but it just makes you feel better to say it? Sorry that may sound trite but we either move on and get behind the board and new CEO ( when he arrives) or we remain rooted in the past railing about things we can’t change which can only help perpetuate an atmosphere of negativity around Solg and most certainly won’t help you or others recover some of your hard earned cash
