the UltraFan 30 will be scaled down to roughly 90 inches, fitting perfectly within the 30,000–40,000 lbf thrust class Boeing needs for a 170-to-240-seat “conventional shaped passenger aircraft.” My understanding is Boeing will now make the decision on the new narrow body engine supplier in Q1 2027. The Boeing boss was at RR in Derby in December last year having already been in Derby earlier in 2025.
The Rise UDF design won’t fit a “conventional shaped passenger plane.”
