RE: Monday, Monday, so good to me22 Oct 2022 05:23
Thanks milanda, from a fairly recent map of O&G pipelines to the UK, was aware there was a 16” feeder pipe from the retired Beatrice field to the north of Dunrobin. Wasn’t sure if was still being retained. Good to know that the Nigg depot & its oil tanks are still being looked after.
Heavy 16” piping would hopefully still be functional & was good for shifting up to 100,000 bopd. Its thought that Dunrobin may be on a par with the Beatrice which then generated c.55,000 bopd. If pipe still good would alleviate any problems with crossing the inner moray firth (Lossie to Helmsdale line, so lies to the west of us) and its conservation area. Would then be quickest option tying in a short distance of 10” pipe, good for c.50,000bopd.
In winter it’s usually a 50% success rate on getting to the top of the wee mountain Ben Wyvis (overlooking Nigg) as when the cornices build up on both sides of the approach ridge there is then only a few metres width of ridge to traverse & so can’t be done solo when there is complete whiteout. Once thru the cornice was enough (thankfully roped up). Can though occasionally rise above the cloud line & it then looks like the north sea has risen all the way to the summits; a sea of thick dense clouds down below. Can then be weeks of temperature inversions & where down below all the solar panels & windmills are completely choked off.
