RE: Start of another Week31 Jan 2022 10:05
Agreed Sleepy, a good debate over the weekend.
My view is that the Avacta BOD are actively window dressing the company for a sale/merger.
Think about it from Dr Smiths perspective, he has spent the last 15 years working to prove a concept, confirmation of which we believe is imminent.
He knows that Avct do not have the resources (nor likely the will after their recent experiences with DHSC, PD et al) to develop and commercialise the extensive pipeline they possess. Proof of concept with detailed PK data will be a key inflection point.
The appointment of a broker coupled with the roadshows all points to a desire to strengthen the shareholder roster and subsequently strengthen any negotiation position with potential suitors.
If you were the CEO of Abbot/Thermo Fisher/Roche etc you wouldn’t need an over-excited Paul Hill to point out the addressable market once concept is proven.
Dr Smith and the BOD of Avct have done the science, it makes sense to me that the time is fast approaching for them to step aside and let a major fully commercialise the numerous opportunities, something the AVCT BOD must realise will take them years and several rounds of fundraising to achieve.
I firmly believe that Dr Smith has a holistic approach and would want to see his work helping cancer sufferers sooner rather than later.
For what it’s worth, I also think that this is why the LFT has been pulled. Any short term covid revenues have been sacrificed in return for having a fully developed and proven diagnostics platform that can be sold with therapeutics as whole or a hived off as a separate division.
Dr Smith must be well into his 50’s, he could be very close to achieving his life’s work, a sale to a major would provide him and his family with life changing wealth. Why wouldn’t he want to sell?
Strap in folks, I suspect things are about to get very interesting.
