It is very difficult to imagine that Bluewater’s engineers did not consider the possibility that modification might be required to the winch capacity resulting from the larger buoy and increased operating depth. If they did not crass stupidity.

I have a feeling they would like to get hooked up before 21st February.

The conditions today have not been ideal. Wave height about 2m at best but the wind was around 20 k or more so marginal. I’m not surprised they are returning to Cromarty.

If there were technical issues then expect an RNS. Hopefully there will be no RNS which can only mean the weather/sea conditions were not satisfactory. Nevertheless we could get an ‘MGW RNS’.

Quite correct.

I am not reading too much from the status report. As soon as the lifting cable is attached to the buoy her manoeuvrability will be restricted but does not mean the buoy has actually been pulled in. If she reports moored that would be a reasonable confirmation of hook up.

There is another possible indicator that I am still waiting for.

I am keeping an open mind. Today seemed marginal and I postulated that the early arrival was to take advantage of any unexpected improvement of the forecast conditions. Sunday still looks the best day with forecast waves under 2 m, but if you’re right there will be an RNS tomorrow.

There has been a lot posted today for no good reason and it would be good if those new to the board heeded your advice.

However no one owns the board and if there were no new investors, and thus new contributors to the board there would be nothing to drive the share price up.

I am of the view that the recent influx of new contributors is a positive sign and if that means a bit of dross well just be grateful and put up with it.

Olympic Zeus is now showing as available so appears to be finished with HUR.

So what was her task?

The RNS said ‘the rope snagged’. So what did it snag on? A poster on advfn suggested it had jumped a pulley. I’m not agreeing that this is what happened but the RNS was suitably vague. The RNS also said “The rope has now been freed and the buoy returned to its starting position.” which implies that the buoy had been raised from its start position. So when the rope snagged with the buoy partially lifted how did they release the buoy? Was the rope somehow unsnagged or did they have to cut it?

The rope could only snag either within the confines of the turret or on the buoy itself. My initial thoughts were that the rope had caught on one of the appendages to the buoy but this would mean that continued lifting of the buoy would cause it to tilt but on reflection this seems unlikely.

If the buoy had been partially raised the rope would be under considerable tension so how were they able to free it. The fact that they sent the Olympic Zeus out to the buoy suggests they either wanted to check for any possible damage to the buoy or retrieve a severed cable left attached to it.

So a special dividend of 24p for sale of Lancaster is what you are suggesting. How do the convertibles feature in this? I ask because we have not been informed of any increase in the share issue (other than for the incentive scheme) which suggests that no conversions have taken place. If a bid for Lancaster was received how the convertible holders would react?

It will not be private investors that need persuading. Institutions are the main holders and I suspect that Boudicca were appointed to do the persuading should it come to that.

I do wish I had recorded that answer verbatim; I know it took me by surprise but I don’t think there was an outright lie. More like being economical with the truth. It does still rankle because if the boat had been on Lancaster in September we would be producing now. And there’s the six weeks Dubai to Lancaster which turned out to be nearly twice that.

Responders will say we are still on schedule as per guidance. The problem is that RT does not stick to the script.

If the Windy.co. forecast for Monday holds the afternoon into evening period is indicating sub 2m total sea state and very light winds. I know it’s a relatively short window and the following week, 3rd and 4th February is longer with possibly better conditions but that is far ahead and could easily change.
I’m thinking that Monday could be an opportunity that should not be missed. We should know by Sunday mid day
